Kanye used to be a relatively unknown producer making beats for Jay-z, Camron, and other artists under Jay-z's label, at a time when JZ was building solidly upon his initial success in the music industry. I don't think it is wild to suggest he(Kanye) might have been envious of the rappers he was working for, particularly JZ.

He has always been in Jay-Z's shadow, and this clearly bothers his ego. JZ has nothing to prove musically or in terms of success. Kanye is constantly trying to prove his worth in very brash, immature ways. JZ married Beyonce, so Kanye had to wife up an 'apex female'.

I don't hate him, or begrudge him his success and fame, but as a person he comes across as a dick who would probably be OK if he wasn't so egotistic.

Listen to Big Brother by Kanye West he says all this himself [Image: laugh4.gif] Regardless I still like him because all this attention is intentional. This is just another act to stay relevant. There is no ohher reason he would be so hypocritical towards his own words though I could be wrong just look at Busta Rhymes regardless of how much I like Busta and he's in my top 10 greatest.

Have you listened to Dark Fantasy or Yeezus? Those two are easily his best albums, and some of the best albums to have come out in the last 5 years period, Kanye isn't the greatest rapper in the world but he is one of the best producers for sure.

Dark Fantasy had a bunch of dope tracks, understandable for people that loved that style.

However, Yeezus in his top 2?

I'm sure the vast majority of heads would recommend you re-listen to this, or other albums:

And Yeezus as one of the best albums in the last 5 years? It won't even hold up in hip hop, let alone when you take into account other genres.

This is what timeless flow sounds like:

Hip-hop heads don't like Yeezus that much and I can understand why, but outside of them calling Yeezus one of the best albums of the past 5 years is hardly a controversial statement. Yeezus's strength is it's sound, and it is perfect lifting music. In terms of his rapping though it's not as good as his earlier albums, and I can understand why some people can't get down with that experimental industrial production.

I loved Kanye's first couple of albums. He really changed the hip hop game in the mid-late 00's. Without him, there would be no Drakes, Wiz Khalifas, Kid Cudi's, Big Sean's etc. He paved the way from the "Gangsta" image that was dominate rap back in the early 00's.

Nowadays he's the biggest attention whore in music. But you can't knock this man's musical talent and influence.

Late Registration was my favorite album. So much fire tracks.

All the people up in a fuss over this are acting like the Grammys aren't a complete joke.

This is the same award show in which GKMC lost to fucking Macklemore.

You've got to wonder how any sane group of people could come to that decision. They either had to have been paid off, or let Macklemore win because he's white and has more pop appeal.

I'd put it in the top 20. It's usually placed in the top 10, with Dark Fantasy at number 1. To be fair, credit for the aggressive industrial hip-hop sound Yeezus was called "groundbreaking" for really lies with Death Grips. The Money Store is another classic record of the 2010's.

Different tastes. I can't stand Death Grips seems more like heavy metal than rap, same with Yeezus, it grates on my ears.

Quincy Jones: Kanye West is 'just a rapper'

Quote:Quote:

Quincy Jones won't be sending Kanye West a Christmas card. One of the hottest producers of the 20th century has spoken out against the hottest producer of, er, late 2010, dismissing West as "just a rapper". "We come from two different sides of the planet," Jones said. "There's no comparison."

Jones has arranged, written for and produced artists including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Donna Summer and Sarah Vaughan. He has won 27 Grammy awards. Oh yes, and he produced a little album called Thriller. As for Kanye West? His Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the highest-rated album of the year so far. But when Us magazine mentioned to Jones that people were comparing him to West, the 77-year-old launched into a furious rant.

"How, man?" he said. "No way. Did [Kanye] write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man ... I'm not putting him down or making a judgment or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don't rap. It's not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It's a whole different mindset. No comparison. None."

West is no arranger but Jones's criticism does seems a little naive. Kanye has always been a producer first and a rapper second – the sounds he created on Jesus Walks, Gold Digger and Jay-Z's Takeover are some of the best beats of the decade. He has also produced tracks for Ludacris, a rapper Jones described as one of his "favourites".

But Jones is the first to admit he doesn't "think about [Kanye] much". Instead he has been reflecting on the legacy of Michael Jackson, with whom he worked several times. It's "sad", Jones said, that the Jackson estate has decided to release the singer's unfinished material. "It's all to make money," he complained. "[Michael] wouldn't have wanted it to come out this way ... It should have all stayed in the vault." Look on the bright side, Quincy: at least Kanye West didn't do a remix.

The only person I would say that could come close to Quincy Jones producing in the rap scene is Dr. Dre. He has a point. Kanye is not on his level let's be real. If you said Dre that's one thing but not Kanye.

The reason Kanye gets pissed is he takes the Grammys seriously. Same grammys that didn't give it to the beetles that one year.

He truly believes what he's saying though. Look around YouTube and you'll see a year where he gets an award and gives it to Wayne because he believes he had the best album of the year.

To the person who said he's jealous of jz he made a track about him called brother.

Hahaha!!!!!...As a jazz fan who's read several biographies on Quincy Jones, I'm glad he spoke his mind on Kanye. Not that I have anything against rap (I listen to it), but to put Kanye West on the same level as Jones, who studied at some of the most prestigious conservatories and had the famous classical pianist Nadia Boulanger as an instructor, is ludicrous. Even more ludicrous are any comparisons between rap music producers and various classical composers (I recently read some article comparing Kanye to Mozart).

As far the Grammy's, in a just world someone would have knocked Kanye out. But since no did, his ego will continue to grow more out of control....

They are the same people who can't imagine any great movies that were made before they were born or can't include Oscar Robertson in the 50 greatest NBA players of all time because they never saw him play or never heard of him. It is just the hype machine that has gone on over drive thanks to social media.

No rap producer including Dre is on Quincy Jones' level.

Kanye gets a pass on this behavior because he's African American.

Yeah, a lot of people ride Dre, but let's keep it 100: A lot of those classic Death Row beats were produced by other motherfuckers. Dre's name just went on them.

Even now, his studio sessions are him on a MPC while other session players create the actual music.

The same can be said for Kanye. That doesn't change the fact that they are dope producers, but putting them in a category with a man like Quincy Jones is a joke, neither of them could get into Berklee.

Now this dude is hearing voices:

Quote:Quote:

"You know, I felt like just the whole Grammys, right when that happened, everybody was looking at me, and then people started screaming, 'Kanye! Kanye! Go do it!' Okay, that didn't really happen, these were voices in my head. So the voices in my head told me to go up, and then I just walked up, like, halfway up the stage. ... You know, what I really wanted to do is just joke around with what had happened before [with Taylor Swift] but I just really didn't want to take away from Beck's moment or the time he's having to talk, because, you know, the Grammys, they play music really quick no matter who you are and everything. So I didn't want anything to take away from his screen time. So I just walked back down because, you know, it was kind of a joke, like the Grammys themselves."

^^ Asshole says he didn't want to take away Beck's time, but he did. He made it all about him, yet he tries to spin it like he was being thoughtful by not completing the joke. But he already fucked up the moment. Sounds like a girl rationalizing it so that he doesn't look bad. Notice how he tries to say the Grammy's are a joke, but he cared so much that Beyonce deserved a joke of an award according to him (because the Grammy's are a joke), so he basically made a fool of himself over a joke. Over nothing according to his words.

So why does he do it then? Because everything we do has some emotional payoff, there has to be or you don't do it. His payoff? Attention.

What a girl. I know he isn't single, well with fat ass you sort of are single since it is all about her. But this is my Beyonce/Kanye mash up meme. Enjoy. Such a girl.
