I bet Beck is so happy about this. You know his sales and overall brand awareness have skyrocketed thanks to Kanye.

I had forgotten Beck existed.

Maybe Kanye West is secretly using his powers of causing a ruckus to help resurrect the careers of musicians nobody has cared about since the turn of the last century.

Next up is Moby.

Quincy Jones is right. Dudes who make beats have known this. Kanye reached his creative ceiling a long time ago. He hasn't "made a beat" in years, he literally can't make the beats of the style of music he wants to male these days.

Yezus was him left to his own creative outputs and it was a mess. Kanye has been helped the last few years by heavy weight hip hop composer/arranges and I call them that because they are above a dude who just make beats. Dudes like DJ Toomp, RZA, NO ID, and 88 Keys, can craft whole albums from start to finish, a rare skill these days.

But in Kanye's defence I will go at Quincey Jones in that that dude hasn't dealt with rap. Somebody like Rick Rubin can do all the stuff Quicey can do but can Stoll produce rock and hip-hop, way more diversity of styles in Rubin's skill sets.

Kanye used to be a relatively unknown producer making beats for Jay-z, Camron, and other artists under Jay-z's label, at a time when JZ was building solidly upon his initial success in the music industry. I don't think it is wild to suggest he(Kanye) might have been envious of the rappers he was working for, particularly JZ.

He has always been in Jay-Z's shadow, and this clearly bothers his ego. JZ has nothing to prove musically or in terms of success. Kanye is constantly trying to prove his worth in very brash, immature ways. JZ married Beyonce, so Kanye had to wife up an 'apex female'.

I don't hate him, or begrudge him his success and fame, but as a person he comes across as a dick who would probably be OK if he wasn't so egotistic.

I think early on in Kanye's career people's doubt of his ability to be an artist in his own right instead of just a behind the scenes producer was enough to motivate him but as he attained success and people started to acknowledge his skills for what they were it created less resistance which ironically left him feeling less satisfied.

Ye strikes me as a an egocentric overly ambitious workaholic who needs the constant criticism to stay properly motivated hence all the theatrics. He thrives on all the negative attention and "proving the haters wrong".

Robert Green talks about this in the 33 strategies of war:
Quote:Quote:

Make it "you against the world." Compared to sports like football, baseball is slow and has few outlets for aggression. This was a problem for the hitter Ted Williams, who played best when he was angry--when he felt that it was him against the world. Creating this mood on the field was difficult for Williams, but early on, he discovered a secret weapon: the press. He got into the habit of insulting sportswriters, whether just by refusing to cooperate with them or by verbally abusing them. The reporters returned the favor, writing scathing articles on his character, questioning his talent, trumpeting the slightest drop in his batting average. It was when Williams was hammered by the press, though, that he played best. He would go on a hitting tear, as if to prove them wrong. In 1957, when he carried on a yearlong feud with the papers, he played perhaps his greatest season and won the batting title at what for a baseball player is the advanced age of forty. As one journalist wrote, "Hate seems to activate his reflexes like adrenaline stimulates the heart. Animosity is his fuel!"

For Williams the animosity of the press and, with the press, of the public, was a kind of constant pressure that he could read, hear, and feel. They hated him, they doubted him, they wanted to see him fail; he would show them. And he did. A fighting spirit needs a little edge, some anger and hatred to fuel it. So do not sit back and wait for people to get aggressive; irritate and infuriate them deliberately. Feeling cornered by a multitude of people who dislike you, you will fight like hell. Hatred is a powerful emotion. Remember: in any battle you are putting your name and reputation on the line; your enemies will relish your failure. Use that pressure to make yourself fight harder.

Kanye gets a pass on this behavior because he's African American.

What would have happened if a white man had interrupted an acceptance speech by Rihanna?

If it was Eminem, probably nothing.

I'm a believer in turning the tables on people.

What would have been better would be if Beck tackled him and then put him in a headlock for few seconds.

Bet that would have shocked his little celebrity ass...

Two simple questions when you get sucked into the hype of guys like this:

Does Kanye cut you a check every month?

Does Kim Kardashian stick her ass out there for you to fuck every month?

If it's no to both those questions, why do you give a fuck?

What a strange video, can you imagine how much ass kissing he receives. Hes like a little baby or spoiled white girl who does not know how to react to someone with an opposing view or who says no. His mouth looks like he stuffed dip packets all along the bottom

If you're to ask anyone outside hollywood to name a black artist who churns out good music, Kanye would not be at the forefront of their minds.

He is a true example of needing to do ever-more outrageous stunts to keep up with his wife and make sure he doesn't end up on the scrapheap.
It appears that you don't know much on this subject.
Everyone in the industry give's Kanye high marks as an artist..Its harder to find an artist that is against Kanye...especially black artist.
Considering he has sampled, been influenced and influenced music for the last ten plus years.

Hell..He even has work with annd or acknowledges well known artist outside of hiphop
Bob Dilon, Adele,Sergio Pizzorno,Led Zepplin and even recently Paul McCartney

The dude's a total fucking chode. Take away his music and what do you end up with? Not much worth mentioning.

Take away HIS music..
He still is a renowned producer, organizer
Owns a food LLC along with restaurant chain right.
Has designed shoes with Louis Vuitton, Nike,Adidas and multiple other companies.
Also part of multiple high fashion lines

Has participated multiple fundraisers from hurricane Katrina to helping veterans with PTSD

Again..I'm not even a big fan of his.. but in comparison, what is everyone else doing?

I understand the situation perfectly.

Kanye has a brand I won't deny that. He is rich because of it and works hard but outside of the states his wife is better known and Kanye is THAT guy who is famous as well but he doesn't get the red carpet like she does.

I just don't see the hysteria about him outside of Hollywood. His wife plonked her ass on magazine covers and newspapers and he merely got mentions.

When it comes to KW, there's 2 kinds of people: People who don't listen to his music and call him a douche/asshole and then there's those who listen to his music (not just singles) and know that he really is a genius who changed hip hop music.

Interesting, him smiling I guess messes with his "image".

Kanye West was having a really good time at Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday, but heaven forbid anyone else know that.

The rapper, who previously explained that "not smiling makes [him] smile," was caught breaking character with a big old grin, before quickly realizing he had been found and a sad scowl returned to his face. The whole thing is hilarious:

^ Are we really going to turn a 2 second clip of his facial expression with no context into a news story? Come on, fellas. I understand that some people don't like the guy, but the pettiness is not something I would expect from this corner of the web.
