It can be dicey business, if you have spiritual beliefs, coming to conclusions too quickly about other believers.
It may be true this is pure virtue signaling, if doing this was their own idea.
The lady though, says otherwise:
Quote:Quote:
But God was telling us both separately to keep going for more and more - it was just brought up that there was a sibling group of six and eight.
'They were just names on a piece of paper and we didn't know anything about them.
'It's like I got hit in the head with a hammer, I didn't know anything about them but I knew we were meant to adopt them.
'We had no idea if there were physical, or any types of disabilities or anything at all, we had no idea.
She could be lying, but it is better not to bet against this sort of thing, as Gamaliel once said:
Acts 5:39:
Quote:Quote:
So in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone. Let them go! For if their purpose or endeavor is of human origin, it will fail.
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”
In the scripture Samseau quoted, Jesus was warning believers against imitating the hypocritical leaders who were guilty only of vain displays, taking it easy themselves, and heaping burdens on the little people.
As Jesus says about the religious leaders in Matthew 23:4:
Quote:Quote:
They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them
This lady isn't doing that, she is taking on a ton of work.
Quote:Quote:
Mrs Jones, 31, says that her life has now changed dramatically but that she wouldn't change it for the world.
She said: 'Not a second goes by when I don't need to be cleaning, cooking, teaching, washing or just listening. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
So at least they are walking the walk.
I wouldn't bet that they haven't read the scriptures quoted by Samseau.
Anyway, one the paradoxes about the NT is that dueling scriptures is almost always possible.
For every verse you can quote, there is an equally compelling opposite one.
Quote:Quote:
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Matthew 5:15:
Quote:Quote:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Anyway, I think it would be pretty hard to adopt that many kids at once and keep it a secret, and I don't begrudge them the paltry attention they will get from their book in comparison to the amount of work raising a sudden family will be.
A lot of this comes down to prayer life in the end. If it came from the big G it will work out.
Another scripture they are successfully fulfilling is Matt: 34-46. I think these two will get the first speech in these verses, not the second:
Quote:Quote:
34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
