I thought she was cute and when they were together it looked liked they genuinely liked each other.
And if what's she's saying about the her refusing to wear a wire is true, that's impressive: she wouldn't rat him out.
It just seems insane to me someone who is essentially a modern emperor ( modern power equivalent) can't have a pleasant harmless dalliance with a young girl without having a shitstorm and probably tens of millions if not hundreds of millions wasted because people can't mind their own business. He wasn't giving her State secrets or anything.
What an asinine and puritanical country.
And it also humiliated the shit out of his wife outing this crap. I know a lot of people don't like Hilary, but why put even people you don't like through that just to spite a president you don't like, or to try to get more power?
I agree with a lot of your points.
She was mainly a pawn, a tool, in the Republicans continual and unrelenting attacks on Clinton. I remember that a majority of Americans didn't give a shit about the scandal, other than wanting to know about the salacious aspects, and one evidence of regular Americans indifference towards the morality of the affair was that he enjoyed sky high ratings during and after the whole Lewinsky debacle. The Republicans and the pundits of the times, including Democrats like Maureen Downd, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, etc, were the ones to continue to fan the flames of the affair, screaming about "morality" and clutching their pearls.
Lewinsky had also the misfortune to have her "crime" exposed in a time with more discretion and decorum. I remember people commenting that no man was gonna marry her due to her infamy. She was shamed, tarred and feathered, for 20 years which is a damn long time to pay for a victimless crime.
If the Lewinsky scandal happened now, she would be lionized, have a book publishing deal and probably have a reality show as well. She would have profited far more greatly.
Twenty two is old enough to know better than to have an affair with a married man, especially a married man who happens to be the President of the United States, but I know there was an a huge agenda driving the revealation of the affair, considering that every US president before Clinton had affairs in office (excluding Carter, Nixon and Regean).
