Why Theatre Majors are the Worst People on Your College Campus

I'm not disagreeing with the OP's points.

However, I will say that a guy should take at least one drama course during his time in college. This is not about meeting girls in class, it's about learning the basics about controlling speech and speaking in a charismatic way. If you've got a shitty voice with the inflection of a goat or worse, a boring monotone, drama class will straighten that right out.

A man's voice is a powerful thing. Drama class (or speech class) forces a young man to develop that voice.

My dad told me that at his college (a top five U.S. university), engineering majors and some of the other majors which tend to produce people who don't have the greatest social skills, were required to take drama and/or public speaking. It sounded like a good idea.

Why Theatre Majors are the Worst People on Your College Campus

Two people I know closely went into acting or were in theater.

1) My female cousin, living in NYC, has done some off broadway shit, commercial work, etc. Her artsy fartsiness and clear SJW beliefs (although not a hardcore activist), is vomit-inducing at times. She also randomly started talking with this high pitched squeaky voice which has not gone back to normal... I was like:"Wtf is this some act or some shit, did you do bongs of helium or is this the 'new' you?" when she came back to Ohio to bury her father. I'll hand it to her though, she had the lips to GFTO of here at 19 and trek to Manhattan. She had some song and dance experience, and some basic theater talent from high school, etc.

2) I moved my buddy Josh out to Hollywood to act (Van Nuys is where his apt. was). I should have "had the talk" with him to tell him that I really didn't think he had the look (kinda goofy looking, but thought he was a stud or some shit), or charisma, or personality to pull it off. But who am I to say? I just felt he probably wasn't developed enough, or ballsy enough, to bring the fire it took to make a career of it, in the city of broken dreams. In other words, delusional. He had some basic acting classes and attended a modeling acting school here locally that's produced a few A/B-list stars.

After a few years of scraping by on extra parts, short speaking roles, he bailed and hit up some ugly older Thai bitch he was seeing before he moved out there, and tried a life with her in Chicago which fell apart. Here's the kicker, now he's a fucking youth minister at a progressive "rock n roll" type McChurch. Man I knew he was cheesy but not so cheesy as to become a walking hypocrisy. As a FB friend, he's always pushing church on everyone, and has thus pushed his old friends away who he has pinned as "lost sinners." Paleeze bro.

All aside, people with REAL talent in the arts, I can relate with pretty well. Even if they don't go "all the way," it takes nuts to pursue and spend your time doing. As a (basically retired drummer), I dropped all cover gigs because I saw how playing covers just sucks the soul out of people and sidetracks any originality in their original music. Brain memory muscle type syndrome. I've made very little original music I'm willing to play for people, for one simple reason.. it's just not badass enough, or polished enough to present. However, the few GEMs I have are usually received and undeniably "decent" at very least, if not on point, and unique.

Where people fail in the arts is they don't eat. sleep, breathe it. And perfect practice is what makes perfect. Not cycling the same shit over n over with no change... which is the loop 90% get stuck in and can't break free from.

For a second, I was thinking that your female cousin might also be my female cousin, because of the Ohio part and the fact that my cousin fits your description to a t, but my cousin's father is still alive, so we're not related.

I have some experience with this scene. About 50% of this also applies to professional musicians.

First, the overabundance of homos and LGBTBBQ in the scene gives them a warped look on social activism and the reality of the world that sexual minorities are just 3-5% of the overall population, not 50%+ as is in their professional and social circle bubbles. This is what makes them froth at the mouth about homosexual rights, consent, and the SJW flavor-of-the-day causes. They're hypersensitive and get offended over nothing.

Strangely enough though, given that they're hired based on their looks, they typically couldn't care less about fat acceptance. [Image: fatter.gif] Similarly, they generally take care of themselves.

The fags (sometimes) respect a masculine man but may also play the mother hen. Either they'll encourage her to follow their cock-gobbling ways, or they'll put up a defense worthy of Omaha Beach. My advice is to be on outwardly good terms with them, even if you privately disapprove of their lifestyle.

Second, a big motivation for girls (and gays) to pursue performing careers is for the attention - and fame, if they're lucky. Nobody joins theatre just to be in the chorus - it's just another form of attention whoring. Take this into account - attention whores gonna attention whore.

They'll keep pursuing attention whether in or out of a relationship - Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, the works. They'll also expect extra attention from you. Keep an eye out for beta orbiters getting too close by promising them everything that you're not, and proactively call her out if one gets too close.

Third, they can be hardcore Type A bitches as it takes a competitive personality to keep doing auditions. They're in constant competition with their frenemies about who got the better leading role, who has a better agent, who has the best professional photos, who's skinnier, etc. etc. In particular, they can't be friends with anyone who looks like them and has their role type. Either maintain your frame and bang her out, or pump and dump.

Fourth (at least in specialized theatre programs), girls tend to be starved for masculine cock - and particularly, relationships ( = attention). You can find them conveniently located on your favorite online dating sites...but they don't always self-identify. Search for school names and keywords such as dance, theatre, voice.

Fifth, most theatre jobs involve tours and shows away from home, new cast members they might never see again, etc. You figure out how they fill the void between their legs.

In short, said homoabundance, cock withdrawal, attention whoring, competitiveness, and travel lead to encouraged promiscuity.

That being said, I prefer dance majors > division 1 athletes [Image: wink.gif] if anything, classical dancers (ballet, ballroom) tend to be more feminine and submissive...just watch for the above warning signs.

The best ways to meet dance and theater types in NYC
-Hit on waitresses [Image: icon_lol.gif] theatre majors will probably get offended if you bring it up, but the waiter stereotype is very true.
-day game in the afternoon is the best way to meet the theatre and dance types outside of social circle. This is when they're likely going to or from auditions.

Keep in mind, if she's going to an audition, she might be rushed; if she didn't do well, she might be moody. That being said, a bad audition isn't as bad as a bad interview - a girl with talent and an agent (see below) can have an audition every day - both for new jobs and to get noticed by directors. I've heard that the casting couch does exist in Hollywood, but I don't know conclusively about Broadway. Given that I'd estimate 90% of Broadway guys to be gay and the other 10% assumed gay until proven otherwise, the casting couches might be for the gays, not the gals [Image: lol.gif] .

Broadway is tough to break into and is worthy of respect. Off-Broadway isn't usually a big deal unless it's near Times Square, not Podunk. Cruise ships are considered even worse, but they pay relatively well - either it's a newbie gig or they need cash. Extra (film) work isn't a big deal unless she has a semi-significant speaking part, but pays fairly well if they can keep getting invited back. Commercials pay extremely well and is comparable to (legit) modeling...but it is as similarly rare as paid modeling roles.

If they can't sing well, they won't make it past a lot of first round auditions. If they can only dance, they'll likely forever be stuck in chorus - if she says she's a better dancer than singer you can comment on it and say she must really like the art as you've heard it's hard to advance...

If doesn't have an agent, she's not a big deal even if she went to school for theatre (either a bad school or she wasn't top 30-50% of her class), so cut her down to size:

You: Oh, you do theatre? That's cool...who's your agent?

A: oh, it's XXX
You: oh, are they a developmental or a boutique?
A: developmental
You: oh, that must be tough, can't they cut you if you're not doing well enough? <don't linger on the topic>
...
B: boutique (generally the better option)
You: oh, how is that? I've heard from friends that boutiques don't have as much access to the best auditions. <cut thread, next conversation topic>
...
C: Well, um...I don't have one. <bullshit excuse for waiting tables>
(Treat her just like an Instagram "model")
You: <disappointed look> oh, that's too bad. My friend signed with a boutique (agent) and she's been getting auditions and callbacks left and right...You must be pretty determined though...blah blah blah...

Ask if she's equity (union, generally not before 25-30) or non equity. If she isn't and has no aspirations, treat her as an Instagram "model."

I once banged somebody who doing pretty badly career wise…she had a degree in music. To make money she taught music part time at a college and played organ at a church (she was an atheist).

She told me she used be in a touring orchestra at college and that often banged each other and occasionally had orgies. She said she had banged most of the men and some of the women in her group and she had a female FB. She was a bit crazy though…her back was covered in tattoos.

Regarding male actors: this is an old RVF post of mine:

I have a distant cousin who tried to get into acting in LA and he gave up trying after 3 years. One time his agent said there’s a gig where he would get paid to go away for a few days to Hawaii, fully paid for and he just hangs out for a few days with an actress. The gig was the Blind Date TV show.

He quit acting because a lot of the photographers and agents kept on asking him to do gay shit. This guy’s totally straight so he said he’d rather give up the entertainment industry than suck somebody’s dick to get ahead in Hollywood.

Sure theater majors are annoying leftards, but you're missing the point.

Theater majors are some of the easiest, sluttiest, and most direct girls on a college campus. They hang out all day with gay dudes who don't want them. When they throw parties, not only do they get crazy you can easily hook up because the ratio of available dudes is super low.

Just ignore the day time politicking. Overall theater majors are some of the hottest sluts on any campus.

Exactly this. I took an acting class at school (easy A). On the other hand, if you look good most people will assume you are gay.

I live in Austin, Texas. I'm older and have taken professional acting classes around town with four different teachers over the years.

At least at UT, it seems that the actor's major is "radio, film, and television." I've known maybe one or two theater majors.

A lot of actors are actually somewhat conservative. While they are totally in favor of free speech and gay rights, they aren't always sympathetic to welfare and other social justice bullshit.

It's also one place where no woman has ever falsely accused me of anything. The women seem to like men. They can take sincere compliments. In fact, one reason I keep sticking around is the quality of the women.

Of course, some of them never went to college. My guess is that this is a somewhat different group from typical theater majors, who are probably just trust-fund babies who don't want to grow up. I know a lot of actors who have had really tough lives (poverty, abuse, etc.).

The one theater major I do know has no quit college to spend more time acting. She had initially went to school for math and had scored an 800 in math on the SAT.

SAGAFTRA is the major Hollywood union, if you are in New York, then ask if they are equity.

Otherwise, sounds about right.

A lot of these college "art, philosophy, etc" majors are just naive, wide eyed hipsters who've been pampered by mommy and daddy since day one, and been brought up in the existentialist "be who you want to be!" mindset that permeates millenials.

Many of them will probably graduate with no real world skills and end up having to work the graveyard shift at Waffle House after the graduate, all the while paying back their student loans as they live with mommy and daddy well into their 30s and beyond.
