Lewinsky: I Was" In Love" With President Clinton

A tearful Monica Lewinsky on Monday recalled her love affair with President Bill Clinton and how an emerging Internet nearly destroyed her life.

“My name is Monica Lewinsky,” the former White House intern told a conference in Philadelphia, her first public speech to a large audience. “Though I have often been advised to change it … I haven’t.”

“I fell in love with my boss in a 22-year-old sort of a way. It happens. But my boss was the President of the United States,” she continued.

“I deeply regret it for many reasons. Not the least of which is that people were hurt,” she continued.

The emotional admissions from Lewinsky, now 41, struck a chord with the audience, gathered for a Forbes’ “30 under 30 Summit.” They gave her a standing ovation.

The point of the talk was how the Internet can shatter people’s reputations.

Sure enough, when the affair with Clinton became public, Lewinsky was forever associated with a certain blue dress.

“Overnight, I went from being a completely private figure to a publicly humiliated one. I was Patient Zero,” Lewinsky said, noting specifically how the publicity from the Drudge Report went worldwide.

“The first person to have their reputation completely destroyed worldwide via the Internet,” was how she described herself.

She became “periodically suicidal,” resorted to peanut M&Ms as her “Xanax” for the day and often thought “I want to die.”

“The New York Post’s Page Six took to calling me the Portly Pepperpot,” Lewinsky recalled of her various nicknames. “I was shattered.”

She became tearful and backed away from the microphone when describing how prosecutors threatened to go after her mother of she didn;t cooperate and wear a wire.

“In case you didn’t know, I did not wear the wire,” she said.

What’s motivating Lewinsky now , she explained, is a campaign against cyber intrusions.

“I’m sure Jennifer Lawrence would agree with that, or any of the 90,000 people whose private Snapchat pictures were released last week” Lewinsky said.

She called herself a survivor and said her speaking out was part of an effort “to give purpose to my past.”

She kicked off her new campaign to preach cultural compassion by launching her own Twitter account.

“#Here we go,” Lewinsky posted Monday morning in her first dive into the social media world.

Not exactly Shakespeare, but it grabbed the attention of the Twitter universe. Within six hours she nabbed more than 25,000 followers.

"I fell in love with my boss in a 22-year-old sort of a way"

What exactly does that mean? Are women still children at 22 and a "22 year old sort of way" is like what we considered our first girl friend at 12?

When I was 22 I had a college degree, started my retirement funding, and started saving for a house.

I have discussed this broad's bullshit at length on this thread.

She got pumped and dumped by a narcissistic alpha male and is still living in the past.

The real question: Does she vote for Hillary in '16? Hmm...

The most famous and clearest example of the "5 minutes of Alpha syndrome": it's been 20 years and she still hasn't moved on. Publicly pining away after her alpha lover to whom no other man could possibly compare brings her more pleasure than settling down with some nice beta man.

It's been just one cock, not more than a few times. And it was still enough to permanently damage her as a potential partner.

This example is why I laugh at drawing a sharp line between women with "low" and "high" partner counts, as if one were inherently better. The partner count provides a useful correlation, but the characteristics of these partners matter far more more, and are decisive in forming a woman's final character towards her future partners.

I don't have any delight at the outing that the puritanical assholes of this country-- who couldn't mind their own fucking business-- "accomplished."

I thought she was cute and when they were together it looked liked they genuinely liked each other.

And if what's she's saying about the her refusing to wear a wire is true, that's impressive: she wouldn't rat him out.

It just seems insane to me someone who is essentially a modern emperor ( modern power equivalent) can't have a pleasant harmless dalliance with a young girl without having a shitstorm and probably tens of millions if not hundreds of millions wasted because people can't mind their own business. He wasn't giving her State secrets or anything.

What an asinine and puritanical country.

And it also humiliated the shit out of his wife outing this crap. I know a lot of people don't like Hilary, but why put even people you don't like through that just to spite a president you don't like, or to try to get more power?

The President of the USA is NOT an emperor or anything close to it. He is just the leader of the executive branch. The last few presidents have already gone way too far in their power. But at the most they are the top of the executive branch and a civil servant.

With that said, with what our govt. has done to us the last 20 years, Bill Clinton having an affair is pretty low on the scale of problems.

The president is hardly alpha. Presidency is not a job for players unless you turn it into dictatorship. Once you get into politics, you are most likely trapped with your wife forever, with the exception of an occasional affair or two which you will have to hide for the rest of your life. As a pussy-oriented man I would very much prefer to be the owner of a popular night-club or a 5-star hotel in a warm climate.

I know some hipsters with that look and I wrote them off as nobodies. I would have done the same to those goons in the 70s too.

Makes you wonder...

Still played the meanest sax I've ever seen, and was the only man to claim to have gotten head in the Oval Office. I say well done Bill Clinton. Even though I dislike the Clintons I love Bill as a person.

I agree with a lot of your points.

She was mainly a pawn, a tool, in the Republicans continual and unrelenting attacks on Clinton. I remember that a majority of Americans didn't give a shit about the scandal, other than wanting to know about the salacious aspects, and one evidence of regular Americans indifference towards the morality of the affair was that he enjoyed sky high ratings during and after the whole Lewinsky debacle. The Republicans and the pundits of the times, including Democrats like Maureen Downd, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, etc, were the ones to continue to fan the flames of the affair, screaming about "morality" and clutching their pearls.

Lewinsky had also the misfortune to have her "crime" exposed in a time with more discretion and decorum. I remember people commenting that no man was gonna marry her due to her infamy. She was shamed, tarred and feathered, for 20 years which is a damn long time to pay for a victimless crime.

If the Lewinsky scandal happened now, she would be lionized, have a book publishing deal and probably have a reality show as well. She would have profited far more greatly.

Twenty two is old enough to know better than to have an affair with a married man, especially a married man who happens to be the President of the United States, but I know there was an a huge agenda driving the revealation of the affair, considering that every US president before Clinton had affairs in office (excluding Carter, Nixon and Regean).

So she goes and sucks off the President and will now have to watch the woman she lost out to become President too.

That's gotta hurt.

I have conflicting feelings when it comes to Lewinsky. She was obviously old enough to know better, and the hamster is running at warp speed with respect to her present comments.
I guess I just feel a sense of pity for her. I'm assuming her life has been sh*t ever since that era. I know she moved to England to get a masters degree (eat, pray, love + more useless education = more common hamster attributes), and then lived in Canada for a time. Everyone else has been able to move on - hell, Ken Starr is president of Baylor. But she'll always be a late-night punchline.

Granted, she's a home-wrecker, not a survivor.
