I too am wondering why caffeine is not metioned here. The top shampoos on Amazon (last time I checked) were purely caffeine-based. I've been using for about a year and hair just stopped disappearing - however i stopped for 2 weeks in February and it all started falling out like crazy again. Definitely legit.

There's no clinical evidence for the effectiveness of lasers.

Not true. Lasers work better for women than men, but they do work.

Here's a link to one study that used the most inferior product out there, the Laser Comb. Majority of participants noticed relevant hair growth and thickness.

Laser Comb Study

I've just purchased a more expensive laser that I'll begin using this week. It takes up to six months for results, so I'll post here with my before-and-after pictures in about six months.

I'm not Cyclone, but I've been using the Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo and Hair Tonic for the better part of the month. My hair loss, while never dramatic, has virtually ceased. The stuff thickens your hair too. The shampoo and tonic cost about 14 euros and last three months.

You can check out the caffeine studies on Alpecin's website, but basically caffeine stimulates the follicle so that it stays in the anagen phase for much longer than placebo. I'll report back in in a few months time, but it appears legit. And the best part is that it has no side effects. It will not make your hair grow back, but it will help hamper hairloss.

I switched up to Alpecin because I had to drop minoxidl. I was developing terrifying heart palpitations from it. Which is a major bummer because my thinning hair on my vertex completely grew back within three months of taking minoxidl daily.

For those who are beginning this quest, Basil's recommendations are the most legit and have the most scientific (and anecdotal) backing. However, if you develop intolerable sides like I did, then you have to start searching for the alternatives. That's why I'm experimenting with LLLT, caffeine shampoos, and will begin using 2% ketoconazole shampoo this week.

I highly suggest a product called Lipogaine. It really works and it helped me stop my hair from falling and even regrowing some of it back.

One bottle is like $25 and it's used with a dropper. Everyday you drip a few drops in all the spots where you're experiencing hair-loss.

I've tried a few products and this is the only one that I actually can say helps.

Btw, this is my first post on here and I wouldn't waste it over some fraud BS

Sorry for the lag, and thank you for the alternative; the top shampoo off of Amazon that I had ordered is this one, as well as its corresponding conditioner: [Image: attachment.jpg25638]

It may look expensive, but at this rate will last me up to a year since use 3x/week. As can see i bought it in Oct and still ~1/3 through.
As for the heart palpitations comments, holy shit. I was using minoxidil a few years ago and also had random panic attacks / anxiety. While i considered minoxidil being the culprit, I would have never thought there'd be scientific basis for it. Do you have any exact linkage?

There's to my knowledge only one study that's been performed regarding Rogaine and its effects on the heart:

Topical minoxidil: cardiac effects in bald man

The author's conclusion was that minoxidil increases heart rate and left ventricular volume, i.e., your heart has to pump harder to move the same amount of blood.

This is just one study and I don't think there's been any follow-ups. The side effect is uncommon, but you can find plenty of horror stories on the WWW.

For me I just noticed one day that I had difficulty walking up stairs or even up a small hill, even though I'm a pretty fit guy. I had to give up lifting weights since I was having trouble breathing. I then began suffering from excruciating panic attacks.

I went to my doctor because obviously something was really wrong. He ran an EKG, took my BP, listened to my heart, but could find nothing. I started researching side effects for anything I was taking, and lo behold, I started coming across Rogaine side effects. I immediately stopped using Rogaine, and my heart palpitations disappeared within a week. The hair that grew back in disappeared three months later [Image: undecided.gif]

I'm think I'm an outlier as I'm really sensitive to certain substances, e.g., caffeine. My fiancé takes Rogaine and has zero sides, and she weighs 50lbs less than me (she takes more now than I did then).

I've noticed I'm receding a little (at 25). I want to keep a good hairline as long as possible

(As a reference, I'll probably have Gareth Bale's hairline when I'm about 28)

would you recommend minoxidil for preserving the front?

I'm shit scared it'll shed and make things far worse than they are now.

Some Finasteride side effects are permanent. Meaning by the time you notice them its too late.

I´m personally experimenting with 5% minoxidil (daily) in combination with Ungurahua and romero oil (known to be beneficial for hair in indigenous tribes), both I use about once or twice a week before going to sleep. I´ll let you guys know how it goes.

Definitly afraid to use finasteride. My libido seems very sensitive, I tried Saw Palmetto once for DHT blocking and it just destroyed my libido almost instantly. I´m afraid to retry it again, the bottle is staying in the closet.

rottenapple,

Thank you so much for posting your comment about Saw Palmetto. I nearly bought some today. I reckon anything which could affect libido is totally not worth taking.

Phoenix, thanks for the link about that stuff. Have read about it before briefly.

Guys, what are your thoughts on Biotin? I took it for a week or two one time and I noticed my new chest hair growing was DOUBLE usual thickness (if not a little thicker!).

Was scared to keep on with it as there are horror stories of shedding happening after a few months. Have also heard it makes hair grow faster but fall out easier. Can anyone add?

Hi All,

Had a FUE hair transplant (2000k follicles) on 03/2016, had some growth, but now it seems it's falling out/shedding, bought and derma roller 0.5 and can't find anywhere online to see if it will help or hinder the growth process.

Help!

Cheers

There is a vitamin E supplement called Toco Sorb. It is made by Jarrow. I started taking it for reasons other than hair loss. About a year in, I noticed my hair was growing faster. The hair I lost didn't come back though, but my remaining hair had noticeably stronger growth. Turns out this is a side effect of the supplement. It takes 12 to 18 months of taking it for the effects to become apparent.

I've taken Alpecin and I have to say over a 12-13 months, the hair has stayed in the same state, not gotten worse, but I don't know if year by year it's hard to tell.

Toco sorb? Maybe I'll try it too. If not too expensive, can't hurt huh?

Did you take 1 pill per day for over a year? What was your basis on measuring the strength of growth? Pictures? Feel?

I started taking it about 3 years ago to improve my cholesterol numbers (I take it with other supplements). I noticed my hair growing a bit thicker and I had to get it cut more often. The woman who cuts my hair noticed it as well. The improvement was noticeable but not dramatic.

Here is a study on the stuff

http://www.michaelmooney.net/StudyTocotr...Growth.pdf

I tried double the dose for a while just to see if I got additional hair growth. There was no change so I went back to 1 pill per day.

I get mine from here:
http://anageninc.com/ru58841-solution-50ml.html
I'll use a derma roller in the morning, apply 1ml of RU58841 then 1ml of lipogaine.
Same in the evening but without the dermaroller. Minoxidil won't do much around your hairline. It's mainly for the crown and vertex.

How To Keep Your Hair On The Cheap: Hair Loss Prevention Data Sheet

Eh, I just get 5mg tablets, split them into quarters and take a quarter (1.25mg) once a week, or once a fortnight. I don't want to be taking finasteride every day and hair loss isn't the biggest of my worries. I think the whole daily thing plus another chemical shampoo is a little bit much but to each his own.

I think it's working so far in slowing down the hair loss, either that or I wasn't going to lose it (yet) anyway.

I haven't experienced any side-effects but I have over the past few years taken a month or two off every year. Usually when travelling because who the hell takes finasteride every day when they're on vacation, especially when trying to tame hot strange.

I think a lot of the stuff GLL promotes are high commission products that preys on the insecurities of men. Baldness and dick size being near the top of the list. Penis enlargement products and unproven hair loss prevention chemicals? Sure, we'd all like to stay young and virile forever and we'd all like to have bigger dicks but unfortunately we're all going to grow old, lose our hair and have at least one girl wish our dick was just slightly bigger and there's nothing we can do about it. I'd rather spend two hours a day learning a new language than fiddling around with a device that mutilates my dick to gain 0.5" or whatever.

First, the does response curve for finasteride is almost flat. That is, a little works about as well as a lot.
Similarly, while the blood half life of finasteride is only a few hours, it forms an almost unbreakable complex with the target enzyme. Thus, restoration of enzymatic activity requires the synthesis of additional type-2 5-AR. This requires three days or so, at least.

I think the hair transplant is much more cost effective though I have yet to do it. I've used all the aforementioned meds and even ketoconazole shampoo. Only the Finasteride worked to prevent further loss but with unbearable side effects and it's not cheap unless you get the 5mg box and cut them into 5 or 6 pieces. The best you can do is stall hair loss, ive heard that a minority of people get regrowth but that never happened to me.

I've done it all except the surgery. From what I have been reading, it can be done for something like 5k usd in Thailand. I don't actually have it bad to an extent anyone would care and I'm much better off tham men in my age group but it's something I need to take care of. My advice is to just let it happen and get the surgery every 3-5 years.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd ask this here. My cousin is in his late 40s and I noticed the other day that he seems to have lost some hair on his legs. He said that it started a few years ago. I wonder how common this is, and more importantly, is there anything that can be done to prevent this? And is there anything that can be done to bring the hair back?
