Alright, fellas. Let's do some playoff predictions. Put your money where your mouth is. I have royally fucked this up in my life, except the years I predicted the Cards & Packers to go the Superbowl. For the Cards, I was just a Kurt Warner homer.
2Wycked predictions:
NFC:
1. Seahawks
2. Panthers
3. Bears
4. Eagles
5. Saints
6. Lions
AFC:
1. Broncos
2. Indianapolis
3. Patriots
4. Bengals
5. Chiefs
6. San Diego
Sure, a small bit of this is trollish -- as I want to spark a discussion -- but I think that all of these teams are good enough to be in the playoffs, yes, even the Chargers.
My stray thoughts thus far in the NFL:
1. Tom Brady doesn't look good without his supporting cast. It is true for any QB, but at his age, I think the supporting cast matters more than when he was younger.
2. Niner's -- outside their defense -- don't look right. I don't see the same smash-mouth running game. Kaep looks held back by limited play calling - they have to open the passing game up and let him make youthful mistakes so he can grow.
3. Lions are riding purely on Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, some pass rush and their version of Drew Bledsoe, otherwise known as Matthew Stafford. Johnson's brilliance is carrying this team.
4. Philip Rivers was supposed to be old news - he looks like a new man.
5. Green Bay is all Aaron Rodgers. He is the best QB in the league, although Tolzien hasn't been terrible at all - I doubt you could do much better off the practice squad.
6. Fuck the Giants.
7. Fuck the Cowboys.
8. Bears have done their utmost this season. Imagine this offense with last season's defense. Many squads see great defenses fade as offenses gain credibility. That is the nature of the game
9. The Chiefs have to be the most overrated team in recent memory. They tore up a weak schedule combined with backup QB's and came out the other end at 9-0. They need to open up the passing game and see what happens otherwise they will be one-and-done in the playoffs.
10. Andrew Luck is the real deal. Still, his team has huge holes and Trent Richardson was NOT worth a 1st rounder.
11. The Texans & Falcons imploded in a way fans won't forget. Despite that, they have too much talent + top picks to not not matter next year.
12. How is Greg Schiano not fired yet?
13. Cam Newton has caught too much flak. He is inconsistent, like Cutler & McNabb, but will win you games. He has a big arm like those guys and is a QB I would love to have as a Bears fan. Panthers can make some playoff noise with him and that fearsome defense.
14. Fuck the Saints. Rob Ryan's defenses
always implode.
15. Vikings need to move AP to the highest bidder. That team needs a QB in the worst way and need improvements in the secondary.
16. The Cards are not surprising, as that defense is strong. They will push for a playoff spot, but will probably not get it. If they do, they deserve it.
17. Seahawks are vulnerable because their offensive line is incredibly weak. A team with a solid pass rush could doom their championship hopes.
18. Bengals have many injuries on defense like the Bears, but unlike the Bears, they don't have the offensive weapons & scheme like the Bears. Pretenders, at this point.
19. Long shot - Jacksonville turns it around with their QB this spring and matters in two years. Why not? I am sure Jacksonville's fan will appreciate the support.
Original prediction: Bears v. Bengals
New prediction: Panthers v. Broncos
