You don't go to Western Union, you go online to their website.

Just a headsup to you all - not judging the op

I would get him to show some Photo ID that matches the name on the Paypal account

There are people who need to "cash out" funds from hijacked Paypal accounts etc

There is also the issue of Paypal reversals, this can even be done with "Gift" payments

Dude, get your Airbnb host to advance you some cash. Or ask people in your building to do so. Offer to pay interest.

Don't anybody send this guy any money.

He sent me a bunch of private messages. If this guy isn't fake, he has the most serious case of dyslexia and autism mixed with low IQ in the history of humankind. He can't figure out western union for the tenth time.

Also there's the bangkok thread, where in his time of crisis he had the wherewithal to post requesting a meetup. It's a sham .

EDIT: I have alerted the proper authorities. Of this forum. My first report!

There must be a Japanese equivalent to Seamless where you can use your card online to order food, ask locals for help regarding the language barrier, Japenese people are very friendly. . For getting rides you can use uber. I've been in your situation before, my wallet was stolen in Medellin, I was without Cash for 10 hours till my parents WU'ed me money.

Heck I'm pretty sure there are places you can order food with Apple Pay. nearly every starbucks location allows you to pay with their app online.

Here's another message. Now something's wrong with his phone.

I'm not gonna do shit for you you joker so leave me alone.

Edit: I misread, that message was from earlier. Doesn't change anything.

Don't give him money.

He might be a low iq individual working at a dead end job, but his story seems pretty accurate to me. He mentioned in this thread that he is an airline employee, he opened a thread 2 months ago which backs up this claim.

Just because he has low IQ wont make him a scammer.

^^ He should call the airline he works for then. But something's wrong with his phone and he can only use PayPal.

When the same thing happened to NASA test pilot, he just called NASA.

I've said my piece. You all have been warned.

My take is that this guy does indeed work for an airline and has access to free tickets, but he is broke. He travelled to one of the most expensive country in the world with insufficient funds and now he's out of money. Made up a BS story so people would loan(give) him money.

Then go to the f*cking embassy and get a repatriation loan.

Maybe if he was robbed, had more posts on this forum, and had met people we'd be more helpful.

But just like yourself, he has nothing. No rep, no rapport, and now he's expecting us to bail him out? He's just an idiot with bad credit who made more dumb decisions.

Why don't you send him money?

Because I'm 99% sure I won't see that money again. Where did you get the idea I was vouching for him? After giving it another thought I think he is a degenerate who is stupid enough to travel to Tokyo while being flat out broke.

I just said the only reason he was able to go to Tokyo while being broke is because he works for an airline.

I agree that the original poster (OP) is a fraud, especially if they are only accepting payment via PayPal -- the OP's account may have been hacked and the hacker is trying to scam us for money.

That said, I had something similar happen to me when I was traveling in my search for pussy; my ATM card was marked as being good for multiple years. Despite this, my bank sent me a new ATM card to my stateside address and expired the old card. When I called them up and explained I was out of the country, they refused to even temporarily reinstate my card. I was in another country, with little cash and no way to get more cash. I ended up getting rescued by a family member who sent me enough money for me to tide me over until I could get back to the states and resolve the matter with my bank.

The bank employee was rude when I explain it was not OK for them to cancel my ATM card like that. I would have cancelled my account with them, except the bank went out of business and was bought out during the mortgage crash.

After that happened, I made sure to have multiple ways to extract money with me abroad, such as both an ATM card and a credit card.

Coming to the forum for this minor problem makes zero sense unless you are completely autistic or lying. A family member or friend can wire you some money in short order, and you can even send to yourself as has been pointed out. Dude has a paid up AirBnb, free air travel, and is leaving on Monday anyway. I vote for making requests of money an immediate ban going forward.

A similar thing happened to me when I went to Chile for work. I arrived at the airport in Santiago and couldn't get any cash from teh ATM. I didn't have any on me, but managed to get some girl to lend me enough money to get to my Airbnb. Turns out that a day prior my bank had canceled my card because I had bought something online and the seller's site got hacked. Fuckers didn't notify me and it took 2 months for the new card to arrive. Needless to say that it sucked ass. I will never travel like this again. Lesson learned the hard way.

I think guys are being a tad hard on OP.

A lot of travel novices don't realize their cards may not work overseas, or get shut off for "suspicious activity". It happened to me a couple times. Customer service can be a bitch to deal with when you're abroad, 18 hours ahead.

As for going to family/friends for money, not everybody has that support network.

Teep, of course these things can sometimes go wrong, but the issue here is that OP seems to either be lying or retarded. He does have money, support network not needed, account not frozen, just physical card not compatible. He was given a way to get cash immediately that is extremely simple if what he said is true, yet can't seem to do this.

cash, extra card, western union, etc... are all a delusion when shit hits the fan and you are on another country. You can lose your bag including your identity, making it impossible to have anything. Remember, there will be always a moment where you have to leave from the hotel or to the hotel where you have all your possible belongings with you.

Here is how I do it: I have a trustworthy, *available* contact that can debug me. They can send me money. Contact my embassy. Book me a ticket. Book me a hotel. They know that I'll pay them back in money and in reputation.

You inform this contact whenever you travel. My contact is my sister and we do the same for each other.

If you lost your phone, having internet access is easy if you try: friendly people with smart phones or tablets. Some business internet computer.

If you read my original post you will see I am not trying to scam anyone into sending me money. At the time I thought a local would see it and it would be a simple exchange. I would provide any ID needed, I transfer $100/10,000 yen or so from my PayPal account to yours via friends and family it seemed simple to me. You think I would sit on a plane for 24 hours to scam somebody for $100.
With the time difference back to the states this also seemed like the easiest and quickest solution.

As for the link provided by Kona you implied that I could send money to myself online. When I looked at your link there was no online application when I asked later you said I have to call the number. When you sent the link all you had to say was “call the number for customer service” instead of saying “you have to do it online”.

As for my phone taking a dump look up IPhone 6S signal problems. Fortunately my place came with a pocket WiFi and my provider allows WiFi voice calling.

Does that mean you've sent the money to yourself via Western Union or Moneygram (over the phone) and are now out of the woods?
I've sent money to myself a few times.

If not, another option is to use a service like WorldRemit. It allows payments directly into bank accounts.
Although you can't send to US bank accounts (if your card is American) or Japanese bank accounts, you can send to bank accounts in many countries.
(see drop-down list on their homepage). Transfers to the bank accounts are instant.

So, if you know anyone willing to receive it, and send it to you via Western Union or Moneygram, that might work.

I’m good, I have Uber and my card still works in swipe mode. Customer service line opens in 14 minutes so I can make the call.

Again I simply wanted to meet in person to get some walking around cash, I am not desperate but some people like to embellish my words and add create unessessary drama.
