I dont really get all the fuss about diamond rings, but I suppose it's the debeers Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend marketing that did it. There are far more attractive coloured gems out there and those make attractive rings when used with Gold (something that holds value quite well). Those diamond rings are worth very little once you pay and leave the store with them. As usual the big companies just cash in on womens stupidity and ease of manipulation, getting the man to cough up the cash no-questions-asked.

Hopefully I will get married in the not-too-distant-future, and when I do, I wont be buying a diamond ring at all.

I had never heard of this show before, so I googled. From wiki:
