Same happened to me, used to drink insane amounts, wake up the following day with nothing more than some dehydration. A drink of water, shower, and a brush of the teeth followed by some food and I was absolutely fine again. Now I can have just a few drinks and wake up feeling like death, crazy headaches, anxiety, sickness and more. It doesn't seem worth it but I don't seem to have any intention to stop. I'm currently in Thailand where alcohol is cheap and I've got little better to do with my nights than go out and socialise, party or go on dates, all usually involve drinking. Drinking far too much, far too often.

^^^ The humid, hot environment adds to the hangover. Drink water throughout the night. I've been all over SE Asia during the hot season. Me and my mates would buy a Bintang and litre of water on the streets of Bali, drinking both. You had to, or start feeling ill from the alcohol.

I come from a long line of drinkers, so I drink a lot. Luckily I hold my alcohol really well...to the detriment of my wallet. That and I occasionally wake up next to a less than amazing looking woman, but I also wake up next to some hot ones so it's a wash lol. I just like to party, it is in my blood.

I used to get absolutely retarded almost every time I went out. The North American drinking culture is messed up, and I jumped into it with both feet.

When I figured out that that was counterproductive, I reacted by experimenting with a month of 100% sobriety.

Now, I think I've found my happy medium. 1-5 drinks most nights that I go out, with maybe one or two nights a week of 10-20 drinks. As a 210lb 1/4 Scot, English, Irish and German, that's enough to get me solidly buzzed, but not quite sloppy.

Yeah I sometimes put ice in my beer out here, just to slow down my consumption and get a load of water in me too. Still have deadly hangovers though.

2 drinks an hour is very reasonable.

I am usually solidly above that, but it is usually front loaded ie the first hour I fire down 4 or 5, then tapers off.

End of the night I may be around 1 cocktail an hour. Maybe two.

I get where I need to be, then it's all about Buzz Maintenance™ and Buzz Optimization™.

True I didn't think about that, its much more drastic when you're in an American (especially DC area) mindset, where you hit the venue at 10-11 and you're out only 3-4 hours.


Im a "Front loader" (lol) as well G. I'll do three drinks in the first hour and then another drink 1-2 hours later to maintain. I've started doing all four immediately since being pulled over, that way I'm much more sober by the end of the night.

Anyone ever throw up a data sheet on drinking vs. not drinking? I myself love drinking but I can see the real advantages of not drinking.

Drinking: More social, no questions, commonality, etc
Sober: Ability to DD (could become annoying, just schedule the route so the drunk cute lizzard is the last stop), cheaper, no hangover the next day, tighter game (again only applies to some, I like to imagine my game is tighter while drinking but that is probably just an illusion)

Good Lord man! The worst hangover I'd ever had came from polishing off a bottle of big bottle of Irish whiskey, I think it was either Feckin or Tullamore Dew. Drank that shit on the rocks till 3 a.m., then went to get munchies at White Castle before collapsing into bed. Had to get up at 5:45 a.m. and be at work by 7 a.m.! God that was miserable.

Really depends on the situation, but I try not to make an ass of myself.

I know they didn't come to have a bro night but came to pick up girls.
I see them doing nothing when they are sober but become more aggressive when they are drunk.
Obviously girls will see through that and it will turn them way off.

how do you handle those friends? I just want to tell them 'if you got confidence issues, work on it, alcohol won't help'

Yeah, I drank a few last night to try and feel better. Man, it made it worse. I had to do the walk of shame this morning to the store to get some mater juice, milk, and water. I'm thinking about taking cold bath to shock my system back to normal. As for drinking? I'm done.

Alcohol WILL help their confidence while they are drunk, it has for centuries. 90% of the girls at the bar are drunk (yes, I made that stat up), so they won't see anything wrong with another drunk guy. If anything, the sober guy probably stands out more being in the minority.

Now, if your friends are sloppy drunk, then yeah, that shit is annoying and will sabotage their game, and possibly yours.

As far as handling people like that, it's tough. If they are the sloppy drunk alcoholic types who can't stop, then there is no easy solution other than not going out with them unless it is just a guys night. You could try video taping them during their sloppiest moments and showing it to them/shaming them.

Personally, I try to use their drunkenness to my advantage. When one of my friends gets super embarrassingly drunk and acting a fool, I will just smile along, have a ridiculous conversation with him if he busts into the group of girls I am talking to, and then ask him to go find someone for me or give him money to buy me a beer. When he leaves you and the girls will have a good laugh and they will see you are a cool guy by being nice and having a good time with your belligerent friend. When he walks away say something funny like "That's my baby!" with a huge grin on your face.

I guess it just comes down to their level of drunkness and how well you can spin it in your favor, because you will never escape drunk people at a bar.

Way to much. When pre drinking with friends we usually don't even measure it, just pour the hard liquor (usually vodka or scotch) into a glass and fill the rest up with mixers. This has gotten me into trouble a few times because it's impossible to keep track of your intake and the alcohol doesn't effect you until 20-30 minutes later. I use to scull wine straight out of a goon sack in my early university days. I also once downed 15 shots of vodka in the space of 10-15 minutes before leaving the apartment for a night out. These days, that barely gets me drunk.

If you're drinking with a girl, i did recently discover a magic method: sparkling red wine. If you can get it, the buzz you (and the girls) get off it makes her instantly horny. it's like champaign, but with the aphrodisiac effects of red wine.

I prefer to go out late and not drink before 11:30pm. It's a big advantage being able to bring your A-game towards the end of the night when the rest of the guys in the place are obnoxious or starting fights.

If I went out after work like a lot of people I know, I definitely can become "that guy" towards close.

It really depends on the venue.

Hitting up a restaurant here in the city, you can have 1.5-2 hours of all you can drink for 10-20$ on top of what food you order.

Last weekend was 5 bottles of Soju with my korean buddy, 2-4 classes of makkoli and several draft beers. Which was after downing probably 5-7 big sized cans of beer/chuhai.

On a more proper night, I can maintain a chill buzz with 1-2 screwdrivers/beers per hour, or a sangria per hour (strongest sangria I've ever had).

Last Weekend I had about 30 drinks over Friday and Saturday night, and only got 3 hours sleep in total. It lead to a three way kiss with two models, a few other drunken kisses, several numbers, and hooking up with an ex. This week I'm sick as hell and haven't left the house in days. Still trying to decide if it was worth it. I will be very surprised if I'm alive by 50 at this rate

Anyone else this crazy (or stupid) and want to make me feel better about it?
