Probably having to do with bank explosion. Btw, where do you think real Diane is, do you think she is dead for a long time?

We don't have to assume, we KNOW that there was real Diana. After all, tulpa in their universe is doppelganger of person that already exists, unlike ours.
Still I wonder how did major Briggs get decapitated and why did they put Ruth's head onto his body and who did that. Mr. C?

My theory on that is that there was some kind of cosmic accident when Dougie was being transferred back to the black lodge and Matthew Lillards character was trying to contact Major Briggs.

I don't remember that woman. What episode was she in? There is something weird with the roadhouse, I agree with you there. They speak about events which are not connected at first glance in any way, but I think there is large synchronicity there which we don't currently see.

I remember it now. Maybe it had to do something with the fact that evil Dale thought Philip Jeffries called him, but he didn't. So what we have here is impersonator who tried to stop evil Dale's advance in some way. Probably it is connected also with coordinates and how they are in fact traps that teleport to Black Lodge.
Its not coincidence that everything in series revolves around electricity. Electricity is connected to paranormal phenomena also in our world, so it makes sense for a Lynch as an knowledgeable occultist to implement that in story.

Great fun, loved all the small references to the odd scenes of the original seasons like Heidi giggling like a maniac in the cafe.
The lingering scenes, awkwardness and overall weirdness is still fully intact which is amazing.
Many of the scenes felt like nightmares, like the ones where actors just stared at each other for a while without saying anything. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that this show dabbles with occult themes given that Lynch is a huge meditation advocate, not to mention the shit he must have seen going on behind the scenes being involved in Hollywood.
Also, what's the deal with Lynch and bums. Mulholland drive alley scene anyone?

About the ending, I think it's the usual Lynch thing about characters changing identities, and in Twin Peak's case, going back and forth in time. Cooper tried to save Laura from her death (by grabbing her after that meeting with James), and he succeeded for a moment (we saw the body wrapped in plastic disappear), but then she was grabbed from him, taken to another reality with a different identity. He followed her there, switching identity to Richard in the process (first scene of first episode).
When he tried to bring her home the house belonged to the Chalfonts, and Tremonds, two known 'black lodge' names. Laura seems to have woken up to something at the very end, not sure how to explain that and there might not be any real explanation.
I'm disappointed that we never got to confront Judy ('mother'), even though we saw she apparently took Laura under her wing in the alternative reality (she was waitressing at Judy's).
Showtime says they'll host another season if Lynch goes for it. Kyle MacLachlan is all for it. It's pretty much up to Lynch, hard to tell.
Overall this season had some great moments, and many poor scenes. In total, I personally enjoyed the ride and hope that there will be another season.

I honestly think much of this season was crap.
It was all about Lynch having some meta-fun at the expense of the audience. All kind of homages which make little sense to anyone but the most cinema savvy. Including the deliberate low tech, ugly special effects and their laughable presentation. Lynch is laughing at how much crap he can get away with.
4/10 - would definitely not watch again.

Didn't think it was possible, but episode 18 was more bizarre and alienating than the original series finale.

I can't say that it wasn't enjoyable or entertaining but, as is the case with everything touched by Lynch's signature brand of occult esotericism, I'm left coming away wondering what the fuck I just watched.

Interestingly, I get everything until episode 18. To me it seems that Cooper is now trapped in present year, but in alternate reality world where Laura didn't die and was called Carrie instead. Seems plausible as black lodge, being an astral realm can give you access to various worlds and timelines.
What I don't get at all how did Cooper and Diane know where to drive (430 miles). Did Jeffries told them? There was so much unanswered questions. Don't care about Roadhouse, but for example, what was really going on with Audrey, or Horne brother?
Possible explanation: everything we saw was actually snipped down version of series and maybe originally it had 20,21,22 or more episodes but Mark Frost and Sabrina Sutherland said to Lynch to cut it down. So it became rushed.

Yeah, in the lead up to Cooper asking that final question, I was just assuming that he and Diane had traveled to the doppleganger dimension and were unaware of exactly how it worked in terms of who's where and why. Now, after that final question, I'm beginning to wonder just how much more of the story was told from a shifted time perspective, and what was future, present, or past.
