It is happening again - Twin Peaks back in 2016

I'm a bit late to the party with this news, but here it is - it is happening again.

"On October 6, 2014, it was announced that a limited series will air on Showtime in early 2016. David Lynch and Mark Frost will write all nine episodes, with Lynch directing. Frost has emphasized that the new episodes will not be a remake or reboot but a continuation of the series. The episodes will be set in the present day, and the passage of 25 years will be an important element in the plot."

"Set in present day Twin Peaks, they’re trying to bring back as much of the original cast as possible with Kyle MacLachlan definitely on board reprising his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper. Composer Angelo Badalamenti and Emmy Award-winning editor Duwayne Dunham will likely be involved as well."

http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/news/new-t...-showtime/

With Lynch/Frost on board, the recipe is there for greatness...again (one can hope).

I'm looking forward to this.
It is a great show. Hopefully they resolve the story entirely.

I've been hearing about this show for years but I hate most TV so never bothered.

I guess If y'all are vouching for it I'll have to jump on the bandwagon.

Was this show actually good? I was a kid when it was first out and now I just think it must've been like silent hill the TV show. The originals are on netflix also

When it first came out there was nothing like it on TV. It was weird, disturbing, darkly funny, and melodramatic. It also had some hot girls in it. I loved it in the 90's.

However, it's now a 25 year old TV show. By today's standards it's slow, campy, and suffers from some wooden acting. We tend to remember the good bits and forget that the show basically disappeared up its own narrative backside after the murder of Laura Palmer was solved. They cancelled it for a reason.

We've been spoiled by stuff like Breaking Bad and The Sopranos in recent years, so the bar for what counts as quality television is set a lot higher than it was in 1990.

So I've got mixed feelings about them making more Twin Peaks. They brought Arrested Development back from the grave, and that was shit. I'm not sure I want to see an 80 year old Agent Cooper talk to his tape recorder, or a wrinkly Sherilyn Fenn sashaying around in her Lane Bryant underwear. But I'll probably watch the first episode out of curiosity.

Yes, some nice bitches when you were 14 years old or so and only had scrambled porn signal. Very suspenseful and atmospheric. Seemed to lose steam past the halfway mark. I think I need to watch it again as an adult this time.

This show was HUGE in Russia when it first came out. I was just a kid but I remember my parents flocking to the TV to watch the latest episode. All I remember is that little dancing dwarf and the theme song.

Thanks for the heads up.

If anyone is ever in doubt that the wall exists, check out the female cast now. I used to have a major thing for Sherilyn Fenn (who didn't?). She didn't so much hit the wall as have it fall on top of her. Madchen Amick looks like a tranny, and for the love of God, do not google Lara Flynn Boyle. Sheryl Lee has fared the best of all of them, which is to say, not that well.

I've been hearing about this show for a long time. I've watched a couple of David Lynch films (Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet) and enjoyed them. Many reviews of Twin Peaks have been mixed though, and I've heard from some that the whole thing is a confusing disappointment. Should I watch this show?

Heather Graham's holding up OK for her age, but looks like she's had tons of work done.

Madchen Amick was quite the little temptress back in the day.

If you liked Lynch's other stuff, give it a chance.

I hated Mulholland Drive by the way. Couldn't figure out what was going on.

I did like The Straight Story and Blue Velvet.

Eraserhead is a film I could never enjoy because it's so ugly, but I admire the creepy, surreal atmosphere Lynch created. Especially the sound. Same goes for The Elephant Man, which was too bloody depressing.

Dune was objectively terrible as a work of entertainment. So many, many monologues. And Sting. But visually an impressive movie.

David Lynch has been quite inactive. I know that Jennifer Lawrence wants to work with Lynch - maybe this provides her with an opportunity to do so!

That movie shaped me who I am. I was maybe eight years old when I first saw it, and I was mesmerized by the visual style of the movie (combined with great music). It made me want to read the book and that book has influenced my thinking so much and hooked me into sci fi and so on.

I keep hearing great things about Frank Herbert's writing, must get around to reading Dune one day.

"Just days after director and Twin Peaks showrunner David Lynch revealed that he would NOT be participating in Showtime's revived Twin Peaks series, the Log Lady and much of the show's original cast has sent out a video rally call: Don't make this series without Lynch.

And the public negotiations between David Lynch and Showtime continue on. Most of the original gang is in this video, including Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), the One-Armed Man, the Log Lady. They all came together to fight to get Lynch back on the Showtime series (or argue publicly for Showtime to meet Lynch's demands).

Showtime has publicly admitted to still wanting to work with Lynch, but apparently there are some things he's not willing to budge on, so the negotiations will play out. And it's all so weird, which is kind of perfect for this series. But also weird."

Considering they're still in negotiations, it's a bit early to say that he won't be involved, but I seriously hope it doesn't end up that way.

It may not even be a monetary issue either, but one of creative control.

^^"like a hole with no donut" lol brilliant.

I wonder if they even got his approval to do it without him? This generation can't stop rehashing shit. It was Doug Stanhope who said something alone the lines of "we're eating our own feces" as a culture. Generation rearview mirror.

I still hold all shows to the bar of Twin Peaks. To each their own I guess, but Lynch's portrayal of Good & Evil was just the way I feel about the subject. Therefore I related more to the show.

Without Lynch there is no point. I thought the original closed out very well anyway, but yeah the fan in me wished for it to continue.

Twin Peaks did kick it up a notch for T.V. and became the benchmark for a long time that wasn't surpassed until well into the 2000's. Six feet Under had a lot of similarities if you think about it.

All of T.V. now is due in part to Lynch's revisualization of what is possible.

Lynch is a great director/producer but still kind of a one trick pony as a creator. We know what to expect with his version of abstraction. He's real limited. If he's slightly out of his element and forced to come up with new ideas outside his comfort zone he falls apart. (Dune) He can only work with established tropes and an atmosphere that he's familiar with.

Peggy Lipton actually looks pretty good. She was born in 1946! A year after then end of WWII! She's tickling 70.

But the other Twin Peak girls, ugh! How sad.

I'm watching the series on Netflix. These girls were born around the same year as me.

This is a great example of not marrying too young. If in 1990 I landed a girl the calibre of Madchen Amick or Sherlyn Fenn, I would have felt like the luckiest guy in the world, and every other guy would be envious of me. They were the creme de la creme. Flash forward to 2015, and they are unfuckable. Audrey Horne is my age but looks like she could be my mother now. I'm smashing way better quality than them in 2015.

Don't marry a girl your own age, because when you get to be my age (and I still feel young and vital and want to smash good quality pussy) you'll have an unfuckable lump in your bed giving you ED.

You need to be about 40 or older when you marry, and marry someone at least 15 years younger so they are still fuckable as you age.

Take care of those titties for me.

This is my favorite scene in the series. But everyone in the comments section in YT gets it wrong. This is not a hilarious scene. It is frustrating, but thats not the point.

The point is how kind Agent Cooper is (is that beta?). What a man! He's alpha, but for opposite attributes than dark triad. Kindness, selflessness, courage, and grace under pressure.

He's dying from being shot in the line of duty [though he survives], and desperately needs help and asked the elderly room service guy for help twice.

He then realizes the elderly gentleman is senile at around the 2 minute mark and won't be able to get him help. So what does he do? He smiles and thanks him for trying. Then in his weakened state, he makes sure the elderly man gets paid including his tip.

For the next agonizing two minutes, he smiles at the old guy and treats him kindly and with super human patience. In his weakened state, he returns the old guys thumbs up (the second time he can only lift a finger).

I don't think there's ever been a more likable character on a television series.

Take care of those titties for me.

I consider myself to be a major Twin Peaks fan. I usually watch the entire series about once ever five years or so. If you do watch it try to find the pilot and then go from there. The DVD set does not include the pilot and I feel it's best to start with it and go from there. They should never have reveled who killed Laura Palmer (she's dead, wrapped in plastic) so after about the middle of season 2 it does go down hill but I still rate it as a 9 but not quite a dime.

I hope these 9 episodes come to fruition but I hope it's with David Lynch behind the wheel.

Cast list for the Twin Peaks revival is out. They've hired 217 actors, on the scale of Game of Thrones, no less.

Looks like they got most of the original cast back, not excepting Laura Palmer's actress, Sheryl Lee ... and the Giant.

Remissas, discite, vivet.
