If you know where to get a sack of weed in America, you can get an illegal gun. Someone will know someone who knows someone.
Dude, this isn't really a good point. Pretty much everyone smokes weed now a days, I'm sure any high school kid in America can buy weed at school. How many gun dealers are slanging AK-47s in the bathroom at lunch time? Sure if someone wants a gun bad enough they will get their hands on one, but it sure as hell ain't as easy as buying a sack of weed.

While I do believe some sort of gun control should be implemented, there are just too many illegal guns floating around in this country. Although the guns in the crime were legal, I don't believe the person who used them was licensed to use them. ( If that is wrong then someone please correct me).
What was the mother doing with all those weapons to begin I think begs another question. I don't believe you need a mini arsenal for home defense.

Dude, Australia has less than 10% of the population of the US. Also if you look at the number of armed robberies and other crimes committed its hard to make the argument that it's even effective as a deterrent. There are laws about guns and schools now and those didn't do anything. The fact is that when someone is determined to cause mayhem, they will. Look at mcveigh as an example. I'm betting the people in tht federal building would have preferred there were guns instead of a homemade bomb. Look at all the biker gangs in oz. England too, a bunch of thugs cruising around doing whatever the fuck they want thumbing their nose at police.

How about some guards posted at schools? Would that save lives? And yes, I'm absolutely serious.

Armed guards at every school, mall, movie theater, etc... in the country?
Are you trolling me?
Easy E, are you not aware that most malls, movie theaters etc do have armed guards or some form of security? Schools however do not. That's why they make easy targets.
And even if that weren't the case I'd prefer that over people like you just deciding to limit freedoms with the flick of their wrist without so much as a second thought.
So answer my question: Would posting guards at schools make them safer?
This isn't outrageous. Some schools have metal detectors, and security walking the halls. Actually, I believe the NYPD has officers that may be assigned to some schools.

The next generation or the generation after it will no longer have massacres due to guns...I wouldn't be surprised if these mass murders are tiny compared to what will happen in each subsequent generation as technology improves. Instead of hearing about 10, 20, 30 people getting killed they will be hearing about thousands.
My friends always joke that if guns were legal in Cuba everyone would be dead. Sadly, it has a hint of truth to it. The amount of violence outside of America is far higher. The problem is in America they kill each other with weapons rather than fight with fists which rarely kills anyone.

You're in the weed capital of the country. The weed game is still an underground, illegal trade across most of the country. I don't know why you think it's not easy to get a throwaway? You don't have to be out in the streets and know all sorts of people. You know what I meant when I compared it to weed. It ain't a mission to get a gun if you want one and have a few hundred.

South America has the most strict gun control laws in the world. How's that working out for them?

...south America is largely populated by non-first world countries. Why don't we compare South America with Africa then...that would be a fairer comparison.
Whereas comparing USA with Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Australia makes a lot more sense.
Have you ever been in a house when its getting robbed...trust me when I say this it happens so fast that I doubt you or anyone on this forum is likely gonna be the big hero grabbing his gun and shooting the shit out of the robbers.
I was a little kid hiding under a kitchen table when a house I was in at the time was being robbed. Trust me when I say this, they took shit and got out of there. They didn't appear armed.
Guns in the house just promotes escalation as break and enters now have to control the victims otherwise they risk getting shot. So it leads to more weapons and worse situations.
The fuck do you need a gun in your car for like many people seem to carry. What are you gonna do when some ass hat who gets road rage comes over and knocks on your window, Put 9 in him with an oozy? No your going to drive away unless your equally moronic.

Fisto, I really don't believe that having armed guards at school would make them that much safer. I feel like that solution is on par with the "ban guns" solution. It might put a dent in the SYMPTOM, but it does nothing to address the PROBLEM.
We have to consider how much of a police state we really want. I would never feel comfortable dropping off my kids at a school where there were armed guards present. That said, I have absolutely no plans of raising children in the U.S.
As per usual, gun ownership discussions tend to get extreme and polarized real quick. This isn't a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. There's a huge grey area, just like all of our civil rights. This isn't "right vs. wrong".
Do I believe in gun control? Fuck yes.
Am I for owning a gun? Fuck yes.
Do I think the U.S. properly implements gun control? Fuck no.
Everyone is hungry for a solution, but the solution to ending these murderous rampages is far more complex than simply addressing gun control. As Scorpion, myself and others have mentioned, we have a serious problem in this society with producing absolute psychopaths. This is not a singular problem; we are in the middle of a perfect storm of many factors that produces extreme violence on a regular basis.
