Taipei, Taiwan

Taiwanese girls seemed hot to me until I went to Tokyo.. specifically Shibuya in Tokyo.. OMG these girls are what every Taiwanese girl tries to look like... except 20 times hotter. I'm serious.

Though i still wanna go.. the few TW women i have met had hot personalities.
.

The whole of Asia is like this. But these are extreme examples anyway, and Taiwanese girls still tend to have the best bodies overall (Girls in Japan and southern China are shorter and flatter)

Personally I think Korean girls are the best looking East Asian females. Every time I've seen an East Asian girl that actually had an ass she's ALWAYS been Korean.

And I agree with the banned poster above partially - the makeup style that a lot of the "hot" Taiwanese girls try to imitate is the Japanese style with the annoying ass circle lens and even larger amounts of mascara and longer fake eye lashes. I would also say there's been more of a Korean influence lately too with how hot Kpop is now. Last time I visited Taiwan my cousin there was talking about how Taiwanese girls were trying to dress up like Korean girls but are totally failing at it since they don't have bodies the Korean girls do.

Man you haven't seen enough japanese girls. If you keep an eye out, some have EPIC asses. I met one japanese girl who had really curved hips and a HUGE ass - seriously bigger than anything I had seen on TV. I wanted to take a photo but the light was too dark. There is a lot more variance in east asia than SE asia.

Caution on Taipei these days.

I was there last week from Thursday through Sunday. All three nights there were massive police raids in every club. Luxy, Myst, Room 18.

I'd pay the $25-30 cover to get in one of these clubs. Ten minutes later, an army of fifty cops with bullet proof vests (in a country with no guns) start yelling and carding everyone. Lights come on, music gets shut off, and this goes on for an hour.

By the time the cops leave it becomes a sausage fest. The few girls remaining were in a total state of shock. I hit up several sets over the weekend with another RVF guy and it felt as though the girls had been electrocuted. These cop raids are the worst buzzkill you can imagine.

It's not like you can just bounce to another club when your club gets raided because these raids occur concurrently at all the Taipei clubs. For some reason they're trying to exterminate the city's nightlife.

The worst part is that Taipei has the hottest looking Asian chicks anywhere. Hang out in the Zhongxiao area between 5-8pm and you'll see plenty of smoking finance chicks in their heels and high skirts walking through. I'm pretty sure they're mostly So Cal transplants as all the ones I hit up spoke perfect English and said they were from some LA/OC area. If you dig the Irvine/Anaheim Asian chicks then Taipei is the perfect spot. But when I asked these girls what clubs they go to, they said they don't hit the clubs because of the raids. They all talked about bars and lounges, but I wasn't there long enough to hit those up.

Several in this thread mentioned Luxy as the place to be, but it seems to have turned into a fag club. Especially frustrating since I dropped $250/nt for a hotel room in the same building as Luxy. This is what I got to see as I got out of the elevator:

That was the line for table service at around 7pm. All the dudes had pastel colored mid-thigh shorts. Notice the banner to the right of the entrance of some gay Taiwanese pop group.

Fellas spare yourself the money and don't go to Luxy. And as long as Taipei has these cockblocking police raids, stay away from the city altogether.

Sorry to be such a downer but I wish someone had alerted me of this before I went so I could've saved $1500.

I never been a fan of Luxy, but not because of the raids. The entrance cover is too pricy, you still have to pay for drinks inside, the music is ridiculously loud and bad.

A better option is going to an open bar cover place.

The raids happen regularly but usually not that often. Someone was killed in front of a club about 2 months ago which may explain the increased frequency and there's probably some drama behind the scenes (the clubs are owned by mafia types). Actually I found the time when the police is checking IDs a great opportunity to open girls because everyone is bored and frustrated and standing around with nothing to do and you have an instant easy opener ("Does this happen often blah blah where are you headed next blah blah")

The weekend is a bad time to go to Luxy though, it's best on Wednesday and pretty shit on other days. Other than that though I'm not sure why you're complaining about the crowd in front of a club at 7 pm (??)

Hmm.. that's a bit disappointing as I am moving to Taiwan next week

Also if there's any RVFers in Taipei shoot me a PM and we can head out once I arrive.

We have a Line group now for RVFers in Taiwan for exchanging info, arranging meet ups and chit chat. Anyone living here, moving here or passing through is welcome to join, just PM me your Line ID. Since with the forum and the transient nature of foreigners in TW it's often not quite clear who's actually here at any given point in time I thought it might be helpful and provides an easy way to get in touch with local RVFers.

What are they raiding for? It is a drugs thing?
Reply

Officially, drugs and underage guests. But some people say the police likes to come more often when they feel that they haven't been paid off enough..the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

I would say that Taipei is definitely an underrated city on RVF:

- Good standard of living and great infrastructure.
- Lots of options in terms of food, entertainment and nightlife.
- English penetration is very high in Taipei (although the level of English is quite low in other cities of Taiwan).
- Loads of hot chicks around (who also dress very well and look after their appearance much better than their counterparts in mainland China and SEA).
- It hasn't been spoilt by hordes of tourists.
- Foreigners (especially Westerners) have a very good reputation there because the vast majority of the Westerners living in Taiwan are either English teachers or businesspeople.

The main downside is that some of the girls, especially the richer/upper class girls, can be pretty snobby.

I would say that this is spot on. I wouldn't worry too much about it, although I've heard that the authorities in Taiwan are much stricter in the way they deal with nightclubs nowadays after the incident where a fire broke out in a nightclub and killed quite a few people.

I kind of have to disagree with this one, regarding the English teachers. English teachers don't really have a very good reputation generally speaking, specially in Taipei. But that is not to say that you can't bang lots of Taiwanese girls if you are an English teacher.

Agreed especially with the recent media shitstorms surrounding foreigners picking up girls in Asia. The relationship with Westerners here is quite ambivalent. Western culture in general is still adored but the Westerners that actually come here are often looked down upon...mostly rightly so. Even in the top clubs you sometimes see unkempt, badly dressed and out of shape white dudes making awkward approaches or looking like clowns.

But as LeightonBlackstock said in his Taiwan thread, that makes it easier to stand apart if you have decent game and dress well.

Some of the guys I knew through my school (and subsequent networks) had absolute horror stories regarding cock-blocking/hostility in Taiwan.

But these guys would roll to the club in cargo shorts/baggy jeans/scruffy t-shirts and would act like they're at a student club in England. The 'foreigner factor' thing is overblown. A guy with a fanny pack, Asda jeans and Gola trainers looks like a loser in any country. Being foreign won't change this.

I really didn't meet any other teacher there I'd have been happy to roll with.

If you want an idea of the average English teacher in Taipei, go to Babe18 on a Thursday and look at the weirdos in the queue.

I think this may be my ultimate pet peeve you know. I'm amazed how few foreigners in Taipei/Bangkok have it together.

No matter how much game you have or how little approach anxiety you've got, the most important thing in an Asian club is to dress well. Look clean. Look cool. Look like you were a catch in England, but now you live in Asia. THEN, do the rest (i.e game/social circle formation/ditching your weird work friends).

They'll get their panties wet for a foreigner if you remind them of an attractive part of Western culture. E.g. Girls like me in Bangkok because I remind them of Harry Potter. Girls like RioNomad because he reminds them of Vin Diesel.

So yeah, in my opinion, a foreigner may be just a wardrobe away from an astronomical change in how he is received in Asia.

Does anyone have any success with online game in Taipei? I've tried Tinder, OKC, Beetalk. I get quite a lot of responses, but it seems they are resistant when I push for a meet. Either shyness or wariness of meeting strangers. All they seem to be interested in endless chat to relieve boredom.

I've had a ton of success in Taipei with Tinder. Just tell them you are tall and not an English teacher and you should be good to go.

How to game them:

1. Be better looking than the rest of the washed-up English teachers or Chinese-language students (aka guys with Asian fetishes who came here to date them).

2. Have a high-paying job with a well-known company.

TW is kind of a joke when it comes to gaming - I've been asked out on the MTR and HSR multiple times and I don't even have blonde hair.

And how did you land such a job?

Out of interest, were you wearing a suit on these trains?

We had a great little impromptu RVF meetup on Sat and had lots of fun. Some of us scored that night as well and it was fantastic meeting everyone, you guys know who you are. But a word of warning RE: the above raid stuff, there was now even a permanent police checkpoint outside ATT4Fun requiring a passport or ARC to get in (no other ID is allowed), with an extremely long queue spanning around the block. On the upside there's still plenty of places to hit that aren't Myst or Spark. Room18, Lava and Babe18 seem not to be affected and the lounge/bar places like Marquee, LMNT and Barcode now seem to be drawing more people.

Still makes one worry about how the situation is going to develop long term.

Is that Room18 in the photo? That's funny to see the raids brought up, I was going to drop my tale of that and then, boom, here it is already.

I was there--Room18--about five years ago and that is exactly what happened. It was probably one of the weirdest club experiences I've ever had. The girls in line behind me all seemed to be ABCs or Ts (American Born Chinese/Taiwanese) as they were speaking perfect American English. We got downstairs into the bar area and then the club. Some girl tried to help me order me a beer, but I brushed her off thinking she was up to something. In the club area they had some rap deejays that had hypemen with them that were dropping English and imitating pop rap stuff pretty well. Here's the thing: absolutely no one could dance. Not many people were drinking, mostly sorry dudes at the bar. Bottle service at the booths (fronting). It was the dorkiest, most awkward club I have ever been in…

Then the police raided it. 10x worse! Lights up, music off, cops everywhere checking ID like it was a college house party getting busted. Everyone stood around in the bright lights looking confused for about an hour while this happened. I talked to this group of guys while this was happening (I don't know who said something first) like "What's going on here?" They were Taiwanese Navy and spoke English like they were ABCs, too. The cops took forever to randomly checked some ID (I'm guessing it was some kind of shakedown tactic; no one came up to me), then left, and it got back to "normal". The two hottest girls who came in after that seemed like prostitutes, and one effeminate looking guy and this old cougar that he was buying cosmos for gnawed at each others faces next to his friends.

I walked past the building that I believe Luxy is in on the way home and there was a late night noodle shop going full force and the young party goers seemed much more comfortable there.

Goodnight, Taipei!

The crackdowwn sounded a little heavy for fake IDs.... A friend there told me the following (hopefully not too much lost in translation):

Apparently a "rich" guy and his girlfriend got into a fight at Spark and the bar asked them to leave. The rich guy is friends w some (aledged) gangsters so he asked them to have a word w the bar folks. The bar has some cop friends so they in turn asked for some assitance. Plainclothes cop showed up and got in a fight w the gangsters (who said afterward they didn't know he was a cop). Someone picked up one of those poles from the rope line and hit the cop, killing him.

Everyone fled and no one saw anything apparently. The mayor or a city official then said cops will check every club every night until someone comes forward or they finds the guys. Apparetly they arrested a few folks and things are calmer now.

They arrested 21 people involved in this and they are saying that they will push for the death penalty for all 21. That's right 21 people. It's unlikely to happen like that but it's pretty crazy they are pushing for it.

It's going to get hot for awhile but things will likely die down if some compromise is reached with the triad(s) who are behind the scenes in some of those clubs.

The police have to show face and everyone knows that.
