The 9/26 Presidential Debate Thread

What a strange path my life has twisted down. In years gone by, I would wait anxiously at the bar to watch a big fight on PPV. Now I'm anxiously waiting to watch a debate between a reality T.V star turn savior of men, and the 5 foot tall hobbit wife of a former president turn sex pest.

Remember that Trump is used to having almost the entire audience AND stages of 3, 5, 9, 15+ competitors ALL gunning for him (as he did with the primary debates). He didn't always flourish, but that was great practice for him. The Democrat debates, from what I hear at least, were like (small) meetings of The Get Along Gang.

Hillary has been coddled and sheltered her whole life. She has no idea what's coming for her. It will be a massacre.

In my honest opinion, this is Trump's only chance of winning. Win over the Catholics, win over the conservative (but legal) latinos, win over the parents worried about the effect of massive poverty/urban youth in their area, but don't want to be labelled a racist.

He does have a good, solid chance of doing very well in this debate. He's a showman, charismatic and is high energy (the exact opposite of Hillary) which appeals to all voters. He just needs to avoid cock-ups such as labelling a whole group of people as something, or making very personal remarks to Hillary. He can't lose his head and say something outrageous, the media will destroy him.

If Hillary drops dead during the debate it will undermine a Trump victory.

If she drops dead while he's being inaugurated, and he delivers the "Your fired!" line to Obama, it'll present a different problem:

Which religion to convert to? Christianity, or the Church of Kek?

Also, dubs and Trump demolishes her in the debates. [Image: banana.gif]

I voted for Hitlery to drop dead at the debate, whatever shit they put her on to stand up won't last 90 minutes. Realistically if she doesn't fall down it'll be a disappointment.

I've seen quite a few debates and the candidates have visible sweat on them. The lights and the moment makes you sweat even more and its a challenge for fit individuals to keep it up. How does a grandma hope to keep stable for 90 minutes with her arch nemesis right next to her and an audience in the millions watching?

How hot are those stage lights at stage level? I've only even been on a stage twice and each time the ambient temperature was higher than normal.

I look forward to watching this with the New York City branch of deplorable shitlords. I don't know how this will go, but here's the things I'm watching for.

Hillary’s plan must be:

1. Throw The Donald off his game and make him look angry, crazy, or uninformed.
2. Fill in the vacuum with something that makes her sound “reasonable.”
3. Hope that the media during the debate isn’t too biased for her, but also focuses enough on Trump’s negatives.

Meanwhile, Trump must:

1. Control the frame. Shift focus to the things he wants to focus on, especially those things that make Hillary Clinton look bad. Try to get her to look unhealthy if possible.
2. Don’t look crazy.
3. Don’t look uninformed. Sound “reasonable” enough.

Trump's advantage is that he's better at frame control and a lot funnier. Hillary needs to bait Trump into looking angry or crazy, and she will be assisted by the media. He probably knows this and won't do this debate the way he did the primary ones.

Trump doesn't need to win this in a smash. He just needs to not lose too badly. Hillary Clinton is the one that needs to win convincingly.

The media will spin it in the same way they spun the first Obuma/Rmoney debate. Hofstra U ain't Colorado, so the "high altitude" excuse is out. But the shills will come up with something to explain her poor performance.

I also expect shades of Uncle Joe and Kid Ryan on 10/4. Kaine will (somehow) get one in on Pence and, regardless of anything else that night, Kaine'll have saved the day for Killary.

I voted mild Trump victory, cause that's how the Clinton News Network will spin it. But in reality I think it'll be a smashing victory, minus any Killary issues.

I don't know how much hotter exactly, but I've been on stage loads of times performing and you can definitely feel the heat coming off the lights the second they turn on. Probably 10 degrees warmer than in the seats at least.

I suppose they could chill the venue to make things easier on Hillary, but that would suck for the audience.

If Hillary starts off with a coughing fit, we could all be dead from alcohol poisoning within the first 5 minutes of the debate.

^ LOL, no.

The unwritten rule of drinking games is that if you finish a drink during an event you don't start the next drink until the next event occurs.

But not all guys follow this, and prefer to get blacked out instead

It depends on the type of light. A tungsten halogen bulb radiates a lot of energy in infrared. Modern LED fixtures radiate mostly visual spectrum so won't heat up a stage as much. The fixtures themselves still get hot, but they are distant from the stage.

I once gave an interview on camera for my school years ago, the had a classroom set as a studio, they had those studio lights, when I sat down in front of them I felt like opening an oven, it was winter still but I was burning.

There is not way Hillary can get out if this debate without cracking.

Right. But I've never been under LED stage lights. Granted I haven't been on stage in a few years, but until recently it was hard to get the right color with LED lights, and lighting and stage production seems like one of those areas where minor technical changes are adopted really, really slowly. I might be wrong though.

LED stage lights do exist, so if they think it's going to be an issue you're probably right that they'll just use LEDs instead. Hopefully it didn't occur to them.

Speaking as a performer I wouldn't want them to change to LEDs for stage lighting generally. I like being under the lights, it's a great "game day" feeling, and doesn't affect my performance negatively at all. Damn few performers in any art are prone to passing out every time the sun comes out from the behind the clouds a la the Hildabeast, after all.
