Christianity did not spread by the sword, at least not until the emperor Constantine. In fact, Christianity was usually violently oppressed by the Roman emperor.

Christianity isn't just some "stupid religion"; it's the truth. The Good News ought to be proclaimed to all who can hear. Regardless of how much it offends your precious libertarian sensibilities.

It's because they're seriously overpopulated and the younger generation is too Westernized.

It's more like a 2nd world country pretending to be 1st world. You can see some nice buildings in Gangnam but a 5 minute bus ride away and you will see a lot pre-1990 crackshack apartment complexes.

In reality South Korea's median household income is similar to Portugal and Lithuania. Lithuania if anything is known as a place for suicide and emigration. Granted I didn't live in Seoul's business area but everyone I knew complained about being poor even guys who had degrees in STEM. And a lot of people were daydreaming about either getting rich off Bitcoin or emigrating to a western country.

I have vague memories from church as a child hearing that Jesus will only return when all people on Earth have heard the Gospel. My memory could be faulty, but perhaps this was his motivation, and the motivation of other missionaries who visit remote areas?

Also, what is the Christian perspective on people who have never heard the Gospel, such as these Sentinal Islanders? Are they to be condemned to hell along with others who have heard the Gospel and rejected it? Or will God be merciful and give them a free pass into heaven?

They neither hear nor read it. I used to read the bible to pass boredom at Church (I was forced to go by an employer - yeah even forced to go to a Bible Study too and I had to do this for 9 months). Hell is often only mentioned like 5-15 times depending on the version / translation and you know these Bibles can go 300+ pages.

And certain Bible versions say weird stuff like if you see a beautiful woman then you should rip your eye out before you think about defiling her (Does anyone believe Ancient Jerusalem had one-eyed guys everywhere? ).

Edit: Matthew 5:29 in the Bible

For example a King James' Bible might say the soul of a bad person will goes into a burning pit forever. But then you have the English Standard Version which changes the translation to saying just their corpse will be buried there and nothing about where the soul goes (Revelation 21:8). So which translation is more Holy then? Do previous Bibles hold more precedent or what? What about the super early Christian bibles which were said to be near copies of Jewish texts and didn't mention hell until the 600s or whenever it was?

So I'm of the opinion now that 99.999% of Church Go-ers actually don't read the Bible (because they don't believe me when I tell them of the passages I read) and your typical Pastor / Priest is equivalent to a Junior College student taking a Theology course.

So it often leads me to believe the Christian Churches are really just a ton of brainwashing and community participation (and frequent lying like people saying they are Christian but can't be bothered to read the Bible like I did for awhile).

Regarding the first question, you are right. In bible it says that God will return when everyone in the world will know about him.

Regarding your second question, christians believe that if someone who never heard about God dies, they will be judged according to their actions on earth.

A missionary once visited the Inuit, and one warrior came to him for answers.
The Inuit asked, "So if I do not accept your message, I go to hell?"
"Unfortunately, yes," answered the missionary.
"But if you hadn't told me, what would happen?" the warrior asked.
"Well I don't know," said the missionary. "It's a matter of debate, but probably not."
The warrior sighed, then asked, "Then why did you tell me?"

Assuming that the goodness of one's actions can be judged based on biblical prescriptions of morality, how can a just God judge a person who has never heard his word? Does he instil an understanding of morality into all humans which they are expected to follow? And how are they judged? Is there a scale of justice where the evil deeds of killing a missionary and banging sluts on the beach in front of onlookers is counterbalanced by sharing your catch of the day with the neighbouring family? It seems a little unfair that someone who lives an immoral life can repent on his deathbed and enter Paradise regardless of the fact that his evil deeds outweigh the good, while a South Sea savage must be judged by moral standards he didn't know exists.

In not trying to be annoying... I'm actually interested in the answers to these questions.

How can you preach Christianity, to a tribe that is linguistically isolated, without knowing their language?

It's one thing when you go to preach in say Africa, where you can easily find a translator, due to foreign influence. But...going to a place in which nobody speaks nor understands even English is retarded. It really is.

I understand where these island people are coming from more than most people on this forum.

We used to kill the Haoles too when they came to Hawaii.

Now we just make fun of them and tax their hotel rooms 15%.

These guys are doing it all wrong. The Sentinelese are perceiving these men as threats, and rightly so. They need to drop an attractive naked woman on the island so she can infiltrate and get infiltrated.

What gets me is that the authorities are now trying to figure out how to retrieve the body. The should just leave it alone. Now they want additional people to be put at risk to get the stinking body. What will they do if there is a confrontation. Can the workers defend themselves? The Sentinelese warriors still have a right to kill. Just leave it alone. But, no every country on earth has to support bad behavior. This asshole has put so many lives at risk.

Drop them in by parachute. Angels from heaven.

Aren't these the same native peoples that once threw a ton of rocks at Indian helicopters when they were trying to drop ship aid after some big earthquake/tsunami or natural disaster, causing the relief effort to be cancelled?

I guess people like that are hardly phased by "natural events" if they can survive this many thousands of years.

Anything short of getting ziptied and arrested, those people will not be approachable.

It's a beautiful world.

How did Central African Pygmy looking people end up on an island chain between India and Burma? These Andaman Islanders must have come from Africa.

WYB?

Chau was white? Dude this is some sort of Chinese or Korean-American missionary.

Otherwise, I agree with your sentiment. It was foolish mistake but those on the thread laughing at him or saying that Christianity is not a pillar of the West are the same kind of Black Pillers who say the West cannot be saved and that Game is too hard in [insert current year]. These are not the people who can help us turn this boat around (no pun intended).

You got me on this one. Guess it sounded too much like a the type of white middle class religious zealot that usually puts himself/herself into these types of situations.

I wish his courage and beliefs would have been channeled into a more productive direction. What also gets me is that his parents would let him do this, but again I probably don't know the whole story.
By his looks and name, it looks like he was half-Asian. There can be some strange racial dynamics in that kind of upbringing, as evidenced by the existence of people like the reddit hapas and "I-hate-my-race-traitor-Chinese-mom-but-also-despise-Asians" Eurasian Tiger.

LOL! Mix the self-righteousness of white folks and the 24/7 work ethic of Asians and you get...someone who works real hard at annoying others. I'm half-kidding here, but I'll bet there's some truth behind what we're both saying.

Naturally, I don't think it's wise to randomly get up and invade their little island where both parties may end up dead. Any missionary work would have to involve elaborate social building and connecting to the modern world beforehand, to lay out the path for missions. We just need to ban Protestants from evangelizing. Lutherans are okay though.

I read that when the 2004 earthquake happened, it raised the island by about 2 meters, which made previously submerged coral reefs rise up permanently above water, which substantially increased the size of the island.

Can you imagine that island being your whole world, then an earthquake comes and moves the shore up to 1 km farther out?

People like you are the reason why the West finds itself in the sorry state it is right now. No limits, no culture, no morals, no religion, no future - only a misguided ideology that demonstratively has already managed to ruin the lives of 100 of millions of people.

Going there to proselytize wasn't the greatest idea for sure but I don't think this deserves to be judged with Schadenfreude.

This isn't about limits, morals, or religion. This is about minding your own business and not "helping" people who didn't ask for help.

This what enrages people about SJWs and Christian missionaries. They stick their nose into other people's affairs trying to "correct" them and "put them right." They want to push a specific set of beliefs on everyone, arrogantly believing only *they* know the correct ways.

If people want help, they'll ask. As a country we seem to have forgotten this. We have become a nation of busybodies, bothering people in other countries and telling adults in our own country what they can and can't read, say, think, or believe.

What we saw here is group of people essentially saying "MYOB!" with actions instead of words.

Here is the thing. Jesus commanded Christians to make disciples of all nations.

''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit''

Matthew 28:19

To put a stop to that. One would have to delete the New Testament from existence.

Therefore its impossible to be Christian and not evangelize.

As for "helping'' people that need no help. That's a valid point.
