The 2018 Winter Olympics Thread

The cultural marxist media of the Comrade News Network is going full-on marxist:

That is the American marxist's media new darling - North Korea. Yeah - you would love that when everyone in the West is bleating according to a Comrade above and anyone who disagrees would be killed in synchronized mass killings.

Quote:Quote:

“Kim Jong-un’s Sister Turns On the Charm, Taking Pence’s Spotlight,” read a headline in the Times.

At ABC News: “North Korea’s 200-plus cheerleaders command spotlight at 2018 Winter Olympics with synchronized chants.”

Representatives for CNN, the Times, the Post and ABC News did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In their attempts to cover the dynamic diplomatic web at the global event, critics say, news organizations stumbled with romanticized headlines and social media posts that failed to confront the realities on the ground in North Korea.

“U.S. media outlets have really embarrassed themselves with their coverage of #NorthKorea at #WinterOlympics,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) tweeted on Saturday in response to the ABC News article.

Fuck the fakenews-sheisters.

I remember hearing in the past the cheerleaders were only an American phenomena. Have the spread to other countries now?

It is hilarious to me that North Korea is participating in the Olympic games, but Russia is not.

The feminism and globalist pandering is painfully blatant in the advertising and the coverage by NBC/Comcast. Very preoccupied with all women's events and showcasing females. Relentless pushing of the fucking women's hockey in advertising for months now, looking at you dunkin donuts. Also gotta give a special shout out to Proctor & Gamble for doubling down on their leftist marketing. As if "proud sponsor of moms" wasn't enough they've now got "#loveoverbias". All the advertising has just been virtue signaling galore. Olympics is always a great time to spread globalism.

Mostly interested in the hockey and women's curling, the luge stuff on that ice track got stale a long time ago. Of course, all NHL players going home to compete on behalf of their country would be way too nationalistic and problematic so they're staying home. Also because Bettman is a faggot. Women's curling has some serious cuties in that sport, makes me want to find the nearest curling...rink...arena, whatever, and start up some talk about rock hard stones. The U.K. (Scottish) team in particular caught my eye last Olympics. I'll have to see if I can catch the "Olympic athlete from Russia" team this time.

I was watching women's curling last night. The Japanese beat the US, both in looks and in curling.

Curling is a very interesting game. It's quite similar to shuffleboard, which is a fun bar game. It seems obvious to me that everybody who does curling recreationally must be drinking while they play. It must be like bowling in that regard.

I think there's a place in my city to go curling. I'm going to try to arrange an outing with some friends and give it a try.

Edit: For some reason, this image shows correctly in my browser one time, then not the next, and doesn't show on my phone. I don't know if the original link is blocking it sometimes or what?

The Korean girls were pretty good too, they handled the Canadian team yesterday with a couple of spectacular shots and some nifty cerebral setups.

Curling is a lot of fun to play, and most arenas come with a bar, the "19th hole" by the fireplace with a scotch is part of the experience.

The 2018 Winter Olympics Thread

I am having trouble believing my eyes on this thread. What forum am I on?

The Winter Olympics always has and always will be about the women skaters.

What other sport combines grace, beauty, femininity, music, with athleticism?

And who does it better than the exotic women of Russia and the East?

The Americans often look like athletes who have thrown on a dress and added a few flappy hand gestures to their gymnastic routines.

The Russians/Ukrainians have that artistry of expression, as if they are pouring all of their heart, soul, and even their history into every gesture.

Look at the Gold Medal winners from this year.

That girl is an avatar of the feminine, sleek, pretty, look at how she moves her arms. They are in complete synchronization with the rest of her body, fluid, expressive, beautiful. She is an artist.

Look at how easy they make their jumps and spins look. Most couples make it look like they are mindlessly waving their arms for a few seconds while they gather speed and nerve for a jump.

The dude does okay too. Not girly gay man skater, he is solid, reliable, guiding and showing off the woman, doing his job. Look at how fucking high and far he throws her, completely effortlessly too.

When I was a kid, I got a crush on at least one of the women skaters every single year.

It wasn't just athletics, it was art, athletics, beauty, music, something to inspire.

I like their choice of music too. Go for the epic and don't get cute or ironic.

These two went for it, achieved it, and even their post routine flop to the floor was beautiful in its honesty and spontaneity.

They went beyond themselves and were rewarded. I just don't see how curling or a snowboarder flopping around like a scarecrow in high wind even compares to this.

Romance too! What other sport incorporates romance into all its other elements? And the raw male female sexual polarities? Female pool players dressing slutty?

From the male point of view, the only truly distinctive thing about the Winter Olympics is the female ice skaters.

And get out of here talking about speed skating and fucking curling.

How about this Tongan who wants to raise skiing awareness throughout the south pacific islands.

http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/02/15...r-success/

He says skiing is for everyone and would like to see it really take off in the tropical regions. He has no comment about getting snow here. I guess you gotta start somewhere.

Aloha!

Sounds like the pressing issue is raising reality awareness for some Tongans.

In a lot of ways I do agree with these sentiments. However in the United States we have the lovely Tara Lapinski and the ever flamboyant Johnny Weir announcing figure skating. Plus with the political claptrap revolving around the ZOMGIAMGAYDONTLETPENCETAKETHATAWAY just lost any and all interest in whatever figure skating is today.

So watching the UK womens (really, the Scottish womens) curling vs the ahem..."OAR" gets more interest.

I'm sorry but what kind of dude watches the Olympics for figure skating? I don't care how feminine they may appear, I can't stomach those events, though I'm an old school sports fan. There are hot girls in the real sports too, they're just more covered up. When Chloe Kim turns 18, every guy with an Asian fetish will want to be with her.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

One more post to go back on topic, I was watching yesterday and saw Bode Miller (who I grew up watching in the Olympics) commentating on the skiing events. In the middle of it, the announcer sets up Bode to conduct an apology on air because he commented that one woman's career in skiing wasn't going as good after she got married.

I didn't hear when he said it originally, but I felt like he just meant it as a joke. Higher ups probably got complaints from women on social media because the official reason for the on air apology for the joke was that he didn't mean to offend love on Valentine's Day.

Obviously, I shook my head in shock from that whole sequence. It was very cringeworthy and disappointing because at one point, Bode did represent the rural masculine athlete well for America. Really, I think they didn't want any reference even as a joke of women's careers falling off after they enter married life.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

This is what I want to see more of. Got to watch this match live, and it reminded me of the womens football fights from LFL.
Go to 4:40 there is a big check(which they technically don't allow), then the fight happens.

First of all - their hockey is lackluster compared to the men.

Second - no one wants to see women beat each other up with hockey sticks. When men end up without their teeth, then this is one thing, but when women do it, then it is a sign of the degeneration of our times.

It makes sense to me.

The Neocons in Washington view Russia and China as threats.

Despite the propoganda, North Korea is not really a threat, just an excuse for the U.S. to base military assets in the region to contain China.

The U.S. has to look like it is giving peace with North Korea a chance.

Russia is not at the Olympics due to getting caught cheating, not politics.

I feel like it's more then just "cheating". They want to send a message to Russia that tells them who is in control.

Sure they've been caught using steroids and PED's but who doesn't at that level. There are many aspects and layers to using PED's. You can bulk up for the years up to any competition and then cycle off and pass all the tests while keeping all the gains. In my opinion as long as you can't hurt each other(MMA/boxing/physical fighting sports) steroids should be legal and used.

It is a dirty secret that countries like Jamaica do cheating on an entirely new level with entire blood transfusions and gimmicks across the 3 of the 4 years of preparation while only stopping right before the new Olympics. Everyone knows this and no one is banning them.

Of course it is mainly political like during the Cold War.

If they wanted to end doping, then they should have banned the ones where it mattered the most or who were caught and not fucking everyone. As if the Russian hockey team would be doping.... (more than the NHL does anyway).

That blood transfusion thing is CRAZY. Its not new and other countries and teams have been using it for years. I got hip to it after watching Lance Armstrong talk about it on Joe Rogans podcast. Its surprisingly effective at healing and replenishing muscles. To anyone wondering, they basically pull blood, put it in this device that spins and hyper stimulates your blood. Then re inject in back inside you.

That's one on the things that annoys me about the Olympics- tons of coverage of figure skating in the winter and gymnastics in the summer. I've always liked the downhill skiing events (aside from regular slalom). i.e. Downhill and Super G

I also find it fun how they award medals for sledding.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

The US media's obsession with women's figure skating can get ridiculous sometimes. I remember at the 1998 games there was some big event going on (I don't remember what it was, ski jumping or something like that) and NBC switched over its main channel to show one hour of live coverage of the US women figure skaters practicing at the ice rink. The NBC Olympics comment forum site lit up with thousands of angry comments, which NBC ignored.

When I was in Japan their coverage of each Olympics on TV was great. They would show each event in its entirety, not just the top athletes or the more popular events. For example, I was able to watch every single cross country skiing race, which was a first for me because, in my memory, no US network had ever shown a cross country race for more than a few seconds. The Japanese network showed every single downhill run, even the guy from Argentina who went 35th and finished in 35th place in the standings. When I watch NBC's coverage, the only runs they show are the top 10 and they usually won't even display the full standings at the end of their coverage.

Agreed. I was lamenting the lack of commentary on beautiful graceful women on this thread, not endorsing how the Olympics is packaged.
