The Femininity thread

I really don't get the objection to posting examples of fictional characters.

Masculinity and femininity are concepts. They go at least as far back as the epic of Gilgamesh. Before you know what to aspire to be or to mate with, you have to have some abstract notion of the concept and that's where these archetypes come from.

I agree that Grease is a tragedy as far as it suggesting that the path to enlightenment is becoming a slut. At the same time, the ideal of femininity is wrapped up in its fragility. You pluck a flower at just the right time and show her the birds and the bees, so to speak. That's why so many songs are about that sort of topic and are now (in a 21st century SJW concept) seen as "creepy" or pedophilic.

This is why so many topics here talk about women being "damaged" when they get beyond a certain (i.e. low) notch-count. Femininity is sort of like a vinyl record that you wear out with the stylus. Sure, it will still play, but it just isn't the same.

Femininity therefore represents a sort of naive optimism or idealism about life, and that energy is really damn attractive (hence Giselle happily cleaning a bachelor pad with 'vermin'.). Life experience squeezes that out of everyone over time. It's rare to find an older woman who still exhibits that upbeat perky attitude. That's why I mentioned Marisa Tomei in Spiderman as a wall survivor, not just because she still looks good (lots of sluts look good) but that for whatever reason she's avoided developing the 1,000 cock stare.

These are paintings by Russian artist Vladimir Volegov. Many of his paintings of women capture what I think of when I hear the word feminine.

In the pictures others have posted, the women are very sexy. But softness, traditional modesty, and natural beauty, without the overt sexualized vulgarity of today's modern women, is what I associate with feminine.

I know this doesn't bother everyone but the chick on the left has serious "vocal fry" which is an epidemic with millenials.

You guys know I regularly call out bullshit cooking scenes when I see one.

This is not one of them. Looks like she's making eastern european or Russian dumplings (indicating her nationality, obviously not American), rolling out dough to put over those round molds and then fill them with that ground meat mixture, presumably to put another layer of dough over the top and make a quick batch of pelmeni or some other filled dumpling.

WFHDWMMM

(Would fill her dumpling with my meat mixture)

Tits mcgee with the turkey...eh it's ok. She's using a disposable catering pan to roast her turkey. The sign of a newbie and/or lightweight. The same girl in eastern europe would have a heavy duty roasting pan passed down from her grandma.

A young Hillary Hahn playing a Paganini Caprice, some of most difficult solo violin ever composed and her intonation is incredible. She's 38 now but would definitely have impregnated her 10-15 years ago.

To me, this is what a truly strong, independent woman looks like. Lost in the music, a master at her craft, bringing beauty into the world.

Fictional characters, no. Hollywood characters, or any stage/music personality (which I class wholly as fictional characters, especially in the present day) for at least the past forty or so years, that's another thing.

You can have either the rationale that Hollywood has been (((compromised))) and is working towards a very dark agenda, perverting femininity from how a man understands or should understand it in his bones, or you can have the rationale that going back at least forty years you're heading back to a period of time when the predominant culture was not being written and propounded by a generation of narcissists. Either way it's the same conclusion. Stop accepting femininity as whatever is told to you by the TV or the film screen.

Instead, consider starting with Ernest Hemingway and For Whom The Bell Tolls. This is the famous novel in which he comes up with the simplest, most powerful description of a simultaneous orgasm ever in print, and it's done in three words: the Earth moved. What they won't show you is the monologue that Maria gives about how she should love a man, one of the key quotes of which is rarely mentioned:

"I will learn from Pilar what I should do to take care of a man well and those things I will do," Maria said. "Then, as I learn, I will discover things for myself and other things you can tell me.

Or after they first have sex:

Not now. I love you, Roberto. Always remember. I love you as I loved my father and mother, as I love our unborn children, as I love what I love most in the world, and I love you more. Always remember.

Remissas, discite, vivet.
God save us from people who mean well. -storm

Hemmingway ended up killing himself and leaving his fortune to a house full of cats. Never been a fan of his. To each his own.

Films have been around for over 100 years. Over the course of film history (and TV) the messaging has changed with the times. Romance has gone from things like Casablanca to Breakfast at Tiffany's to Sleepless in Seattle to Trainwreck. People can pick and choose whatever moral or message you want from such a wide selection.
Sorry to come across a little triggered but I have a film degree so I'm not really down with attempts to reduce an entire medium to a simplistic conspiracy theory.

That being said, I do agree that today's films are on an SJW kick, but I think it's mostly a marketing gimmick and not a case of premeditated social engineering. Hollywood is ultimately driven by money, not ideology. Sure, in interviews they say they drink their own kool-aid, but deep down, most don't. (Look at Joss Whedon, for instance.) So I think the SJW attitudes came first and Hollywood then offers films that validate those attitudes. Movies as entertainment are mostly interested in validating people's existing belief-systems. It's more art-house fare that challenges them and they don't do as well at the box-office. People are far more interested in being told what they want to hear. It's comforting.

For my money, this is the most passionate love song ever created. The man is a birdcatcher. Watch starting 0:42.

At first, he tries to recall her name.
PAPAGENO Do you promise yourself to me? PAPAGENA Yes, I'm all yours now!
PAPAGENO So, now you’re my dear little wife! PAPAGENA So, now you’re my heart’s delight!
BOTH How happy we will be if the Gods are gracious and bless our love with children, with darling little children!
PAPAGENO First a little Papageno! PAPAGENO Then a little Papagena!
They argue about whether they'll have more boys or girls.
BOTH The greatest joy of all will be when many Papagenas/Papagenos bless their parents!

A video of her singing. The dancing doesn't strike me as sexy, but it does seem very feminine. Compare with the hyper sexualized twerking done by American females.

Does this seem feminine to you guys as well or do I just have this Madonna/Whore complex?

examples above.

Also, shouldn't matter. Just because the "acceptable" bar is lowered doesn't mean the standard no longer exists.
