It's not what you think.

The locals actually don't like you that much and the culture is very incompatible with the western mindset and most of the east for that matter.

It's its own weird thing and Thailand has existed largely through the ruling elite's abilities to lie, cheat, and scam foreign entities throughout the ages to keep their sovereignty. They also pull the wool over their own people's eyes too which is why there is a military junta in power now for like the N'th time in history.

This guy had the cash and the ability to go a lot of places and he chose to settle in a place that would dime him out for probably not that much money. So he winds up dying in a nasty cell alone and all those resources helped him not one iota.

Bad move.

The reason why criminals choose Thailand is because they can largely live very open open lives in some places, particularly in tourist areas where the cops are as big criminals as those they are supposed to chase. Countless criminals have lived very public lives on Koh Samui and in Pattaya, some even involved in crime with the police. When they get arrested it is SWAT teams from Bangkok police, not locals.

Where else could you do that? In South America the local gangs would have you quickly and you would be kidnapped. These criminals want this kind of high profile braggard lifestyle.

It's not smart. Those guys are usually the ones who make some high profile international bust who Thailand uses to trumpet "bad farang invading Thailand" etc.. The thought that Thailand turns a blind eye to this is a huge misconception. They turn a blind eye up until the point someone powerful can profit from their demise or when they are an "inconvenience" to them.

It fits into their political and cultural agenda as well. Remember Victor Bout? He was a guy who had a metric shit ton of international and deep state political connections and he got real sloppy and ended up being held in a dingy Thai cell while Russia and the U.S. played highest bidder with him.

Who won? Thailand.

They got to sell his ass to the highest bidder and believe me he was auctioned off behind the scenes with sweet deals from both countries being entertained.

Oh, I fully agree, they just keep these guys around to extract cash from, then they get taken out, but things are complicated because of the feudalistic system in regions and provinces. Bangkok can't just assert its will in Phuket or Koh Samui like the FBI does in the US. One of the first things the military junta did was to send their people to the islands to clean it up.

Doesn't change the fact that Thailand is a place a foreigner of shady money can live an extravagant life with little risk of being killed by criminals. They will scam the money out of people instead.

^^^^ Haaa..... Nomadbrah, looks like we finally found something you can't blame on the Jews.
I have to admit I've been thinking alot about this case and it's been bothering me.If this had been my son I'd be crushed. If he was extradited to the U.S. he might have been able to get out of prison in 15 to 20. What a wasted life. I wonder if he really did committ suicide or was offed by someone. We'll never know.

Welcome back Chinito! You hit the nail on the head.

Guys are blind to the fact that you can LIVE in Asia but you better be discrete if you're trying to get away with shit. Sure, locals will smile at you and be buddy-buddy with you as long as it suits them, but you're dealing with nations of people who were impoverished up until a few generations ago. They're cut throat as fuck. Guys forget that all the time.
I live in a middle-class chinese area and I'm painfully visible. I don't do anything and, even if I had the cash to flaunt, I wouldn't, but this is the sort of country where outsiders are "known." They may not know me like that but I'm clearly not one of them and If I were to start fooling around I could get hurt. If I got up to something illegal I'd be easy to track down if I started flaunting.

Rawmeo fucked up on a bunch of levels, especially with his criminal disregard for safety measures and managing his optics.

Marrying locally was a big fail.
Buying fast cars in his middle-class thai neighborhood was suspicious as fuck.
Owning those mansions was a big fail.
Joining this forum and bragging about all that shit was a colossal fail.

I find that last part really funny since we have some really successful men on this forum who are worth tons of money but you wouldn't know. Guys who could probably write some serious, deep datasheets that would be worthy of publishing deals--but they don't fuck around with their privacy like that and I respect that.

Guys think they're not being watched until the hammer comes down on them and it's over. I don't say this to disrespect rawmeo, but for you guys thinking you can just show up in Asia and flaunt your imaginary ill-begotten gains, you're going to get fucked hard. Even in reasonably developed places like China, there is a seedy underbelly that can find you very easily if you're not careful.

Sure, everyone's smiling at you and being cool and they may be cool, but I don't really think Asia is the right place to escape to for a westerner.

Behind that extroverted exterior and quick smile could be some fangs. Careful out here, bros.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

I wouldn't need even remotely close to 10 mil before I did everything in my power to "step out".

I'd buy a blue water yacht and a new name and hit the open ocean for a couple of years at least.

There's other stuff I'd do to cover my tracks but I'm sure Roosh doesn't want this thread turning into a "how to" for criminal evasion.

Respectfully, how close are you to your "step out" number?

I ask this because I have had conversations with people who are wealthy and not wealthy. The non wealthy ones always talk about what they would do with money if they had it. They always talk about enjoying life and not working. Much like what they have been doing currently but without any money.

The wealthy ones don't talk about walking away. Unless the money was given to them, they generally don't talk about stepping out. Sure they get some toys and have some fun, but they knew it was hard won wealth and are not eager to not have it. Also, I think the mind set to make money/wealth isn't something that can just change on a dime. Once your an alcoholic, you are always an alcoholic and it takes quite a bit of effort to get behavior under control. Same thing with the mindset to make money, to take risks, etc.

So I know a lot of guys are criticizing him for not walking away sooner. For being bad at security, etc. But this lack of worry probably allowed him to think this would be a good idea in the first place. If he wasn't like this, he wouldn't have started this business. That mentality doesn't change instantly. A double edged sword.

First of all - he should never have been in Thailand - his other choice candidates of Liechtenstein and Cyprus were equally bad.

I don't think there are many countries that would have allowed him to convert millions worth of Bitcoin into FIAT currency without ringing the alarm. The "I found one of my old wallets from 1984" excuse only works so many times. And on top of that he was already a wanted man in the US.

I think he was fucked right from the start.

No reason to complicate things. He could have stayed anonymously on a beach in Thailand, collected the cash, moved around a lot, then withdrawn as much as possible, hired muscle and support, changed identity, taken a boat to other countries already anonymously with large amounts of cash.

The opportunities are endless if you have millions in cash. Clearly he did not think ahead since he got married in Thailand, bought houses and cars as if the party was all legit and would never end.

I never got settled that much with my corporate jobs, because they were marginally secure - his one was not only uncertain (since the site would be closed down sooner or later) but it was illegal, which should give you reason to live constantly on the move and have an exit-plan ready. He was living as if his business was self-owned rental real estate and his legal situation all rosy and comfy.

Come to think of it, this Canadian ("Alpha2", note the 2) was so flashy and exposed, it is almost as if he was there as an obvious decoy, a sitting duck ready (whether he knew it or not) to take the fall... [Image: tinfoilhat.gif]

Respectfully, I'm not way in over my head running a criminal operation.

I may not have a lot of cash but I have a keen sense for danger. Being willing to "step out" in this scenario has nothing to do with being lazy or unmotivated and everything to do with the fact that once something grows beyond your capacity to conceal and control then you need to pack your shit and head for the door.

One thing being poor has taught me is that you don't need to be rich to enjoy life, and even if I won the lottery I could still be happy just living in the middle of nowhere with my stock standard family, in my stock standard house driving my stock standard car and doing nothing to draw unwanted attention to myself.

p.s. I wouldn't be sailing because I liked sailing. I would be sailing because it's easy to get lost skipping from backwater anchorage to backwater anchorage.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Yep. If you're going to try to live well, there's plenty of backwater areas in North and South America that you can fit into relatively well. If you speak the language Eastern Europe will also allow you to live very well without a huge profile.

Hell. I don't even see the point of buying all this flashy shit. Fancy clothes are only beneficial for business where you need to have a very polished brand and presentation, otherwise moderate-quality casual clothes are far easier. There's plenty of ways to enjoy luxury without drawing attention to yourself.

Still you know what the best defense against getting taken down is? It's the "Clinton Defense" where you have networked extensively with the people and groups who would be responsible for shutting you down. At a local level if you are able to successfully rack up favors in the Mayor's office, the legislature, AND the sheriff's office there isn't a lot that can touch you and it becomes much easier to conceal wealth.

With caching and Way Back Machine there's no way to completely erase his history. Not to mention, it looks like Roosh is trying to cover something up that way, when it was Cazes' choice to engage in illegal activities. Nobody on this forum encouraged him, no need to purge the record.

Correct, people are simply sharing cached versions:

Once you post something on the internet, it's basically there forever in some form of another. Trying to delete it just looks like a cover up. Now that his identity is out there, there's no point to hide anything.

At least the media is giving credit to some RVF members for calling him out. I even remember someone posting a pic from Breaking Bad when hearing his success story. Turns out that this first knee-jerk reaction was true.

The reporting at least of the forum is not so bad - aside from the usual side-comments of being chauvinist pigs of course.

Apples and oranges, we're not talking "step out and retire early" situations in legitimate businesses, we're talking "98% of your field ends up dead or in prison eventually, make a plan to avoid it.".

In legitimate business it would be more the equivalent of a CEO networking for his next job ad setting up his golden parachute for when this job goes south. Basic commonsensical precautions.

Using the moniker Rawmeo, Mr. Cazes posted frequently on the forum, where members debated seduction techniques, compared women of various ethnicities and complained about feminism.

How much unique traffic did this drive to RVF and ROK?

As for the man in question, I'm not going to say anything about him because I didn't know him or engaged with him but as far as criminals go, he was simply a fish in the sea and some sharks wanted him. I can understand why he killed himself, facing an ordeal of Federal prison or a Russian prison? Fuck that.

How did he even convert six/seven figures worth of Bitcoins to FIAT money in a real bank without triggering all sorts of enquiries? I thought banks are really tight when it comes to crypto currencies and you always need to prove where you got them if you want to cash out?

That was me, a pic of Walter and his sidekick with chemistry gear, on a couch. [Image: blush.gif] I mean, I read a couple of his posts and had an immediate image forming in my (suspicious) mind, of the young naive dude helping Walter Black...

Later on though, I changed my mind about the Canadian, because I thought, no real criminal could be so flashy, kinda provocative and uncaring. I was wrong.

I am still wondering if there is a Walter Black over there, who got out, I don't know, with just a modest and discreet couple of millions, set his young partner up, let Cazes take the fall, and went back quietly to his hometown to retire in relative wealth, driving an unassuming car, the Law unaware of him. [Image: tinfoilhat.gif]

Because in hindsight, the Canadian wrote, "I talked to the right people, they told me what to do (to become rich)"... well, people wouldn't have told him how to get rich alone. People would have told him how to get ridiculously rich and flashy, while they themselves would remain very low-key? Just thinking here, I mean, as a fan of the Breaking Bad series (obviously I have no direct knowledge of the case).

While Cazes drives his Porsche, burns money lavishly in Thailand and Antigua, and draws the attention of the Law, look at Walter, all nice and low-profile:

Except in this hypothesis, Walter needed Cazes dead ASAP in his Thai cell, therefore if there is a Walter mastermind, he has to be a Thai one.

By the way, I don't know of any beach towel long enough to be both, wrapped around one's neck, and at the same time wrapped around a prison cell's window bar.
