Taiwan has fallen - Top court rules in favor of same-sex marriage

A note: Taiwan's low birth rates are less a result of Western-style SJWism and more an effect of the rising cost of living, stagnant wages, and out-of-control speculative housing prices. Traditional Taiwanese parents often want a bride price and for the husband to provide a house and car to get married. However, for guys (college grads) making NT$30,000 a month, buying a house in Taipei is more like a pipe-dream. The ones who do are either rich, or have been saving like mad since they were in high school and get into a 30-year mortgage. Housing is a bit cheaper in other parts of the island, but not by a lot. We're talking US$450,000+ for a halfway decent two-bedroom apartment in Taipei. Forget an actual house like we think of in the West.
Yes there is more careerism among women, but there are still plenty who want kids. It's just becoming too much of a strain. Many who do have kids send them to be raised by their grandparents while both husband and wife work just to make ends meet.

Another reminder why im not big on the whole muh East Asia/China economy strong views prevelant on these spheres. As fucked and pozzed as the western world is, we are not completely devoid of spirituality like East Asia. Japan and the Phillipines are a bit better than most in this region ,but they still have issues with horrendous accounts of child exploitation. But hey ,they dont harvest organs or have factories with suicide prevention nets.
This isnt surprising,Asians even more so than whites are very much trapped in modernity ,especially with materalism. Just more degeneracy.

Do not confuse Taiwan with Communist China.
Taiwan still has active religious traditions and sprituality.
China did away with it during the 60s and it never came back as something more than a tourist trap.

Taiwan has much more religion than China; it was never outlawed here. There are a lot of Christians in Taiwan these days too.
However, Chinese folk religion, as far as I'm concerned, is not helping. Even calling it a "religion" is a misnomer as it's purely a selfish exercise wherein people just pray to gods to give them and their family good luck, money, children, but nothing to anyone else. Kind of like the ancient "gimme dat" of religions, but it's understandable if you take into account Chinese culture.

Speaking of Taiwanese folk religion/Taoism, I saw saw a picture of some pro-LGBT rally in Taiwan and someone had created a bunch of cards that had messages like "Matzu supports you!" and "Guan Yu supports you!" Polytheistic pagan religions in general don't seem to tightly couple ethics and morality with their deities as monotheistic ones do. I think that's why modern "enlightened" people in the West seem content to leave these traditions alone while hating on the monotheistic ones: the former allows them to continue to indulge whatever whim they have while the latter will actually require them to actually make some sort of change. Totally agree that "gimme dat" is indeed the way Taoism/Chinese folk religion is practiced.

I'm guessing the average person you see at a Taiwanese folk religion/Taoist temple probably has never studied the Tao Te Ching in any serious fashion. It's like expecting the average Catholic in the West to have read Thomas Aquinas. And yeah I agree that Confucianism has had a much more bigger impact on the way Chinese people behave and think then Taoism and Buddhism has. I remember I had a cousin who once told me how she wouldn't get a tattoo because she felt like it was disrespecting the body her parents had given her which is a super Confucian thing to say though I'm sure she's never actually formally studied Confucianism: it just shows it's ideals are so ingrained into Chinese culture that people act in accordance without it having to be formally taught to them in the same that in the West, at least until recently, a lot of Christian ideas were ingrained into people's worldviews despite the majority of people not having extensively studied the religion in an intellectual fashion.
I don't think Confucianism has any specific teachings about homosexuality but it is a super "hetrero-normative patriarchial" system in general hence why you've seen East Asian societies been "behind" when it comes to LGBT issues. Funny how the supposedly homophobic, theocratic USA made gay marriage illegal before any of the Asian countries have.

China will cleanse the island from this BaiZuo nonsense after it takes over in a decade or two, the same way it is currently cracking down on porn in the mainland.
Its government is one of a handful that understand that degeneracy is a political weapon that is used by the (((globalists))) to destroy and control societies.
Quote:Quote:
BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese police arrested thousands in a drive against Internet pornography throughout 2009, officials said, vowing a deepening crackdown that critics say is being used to tighten overall censorship.
The Chinese government has run a highly publicized campaign against what officials said were banned smutty and lewd pictures overwhelming the country’s Internet and threatening the emotional health of children.
Chinese police said late on Thursday the crackdown on Internet pornography had brought 5,394 arrests and 4,186 criminal case investigations in 2009 — a fourfold increase in the number of such cases compared with 2008.

It's kind of ironic that a government that clearly impedes human rights like China's is actually very red-pilled and fully engaged in protecting its society and moral underpinnings, while western governments and their (((oligarch))) overlords pretend to stand up for human rights when in fact they are engaged in a more subversive and nefarious form of social and political control.
E. Michael Jones fleshes this out in this 8min video, analyzing same-sex marriage and "gay rights" as tools for cultural destruction and global domination:
“Nothing is more useful than to look upon the world as it really is.”

I'm pretty shocked at the results. As I've mentioned previously on the forums, Taiwan is the most SJW country if all of Asia. There's no other place in the continent where you'll find as much open homosexuality being displayed in broad daylight. There seems to be a lot of popular support for LGBT issues in Taiwan based my own personal browsing of social media accounts as well as the material I see get pushed from Taiwanese media. This might be another case of the "shy Trump voter" effect - namely there's a large population of people who aren't down with all the of the LGBT propaganda being promoted but just don't air their opinions publicly.

Taiwan is one of the very few Asian countries with an acceptable quality of life for long term living. It is a place I like quite a bit.
Part of that quality of life is the absence of some of the worst characteristics of the (mainland) Chinese, or at least in smaller amounts. It nice to experience relatively clean cities occupied by people with some respect for others and their environment.
Everything about mainlanders is worse and degrades the island. There is nothing good about increasing influence from China, and the day it completely takes over Taiwan will be the day that Taiwan turns to shit.
There is not much solace in less official tolerance for gays if you also then live in a shithole totalitarian state ruled by the last people on Earth you'd want to be.
Keep Taiwan great, and keep those scumbags away.
Americans are dreamers too

Not sure why people say Taiwan is expensive. I get to eat a lot of street food that cost no more than $3 USD (and the quality is higher than stuff I've had in Thailand). There's definitely a wealthy middle class here: Starbucks, Mos Burger and McDonalds seem to be full of people 24/7 (and I doubt they're tourists because it's currently November). Yeah even getting a table at KFC at 2 PM can be a problem sometimes.
Also real estate is cheap when compared to 1st world international cities. A lot of studios and apartments for sale under $50,000 in Taiwan.
I think you're mistaking NTD with USD which both use the "$" symbol. There's a huge difference between them (around 30 NTD buys 1 USD).
Sure Taipei itself is a tad more expensive but it's still laughably cheap compared to international destinations.

This is $1260 per SQ.M. Whereas in Batumi where I was looking at real estate it was $1,000 - $1,200 per SQ.M to get a turnkey / move in ready apartment in a new building.
Thing is most non-Asian foreigners don't want to live in Asia because there's zero chance of integrating and you're kind of forced to marry a local for long term residency. Taiwanese girls too I noticed are mostly unattractive (very few Kpop style girls here and the number is going to decline more because Taiwan is the most SJW among Asian countries).

I do find it ironic how people think an influx of money will change Taiwan for the better. Mainland China is "rich" as hell but the culture has yet to catch up.
Wealthy Chinese remind me of hood rich Blacks. The similarities are almost startling. However, that's a topic for another discussion.
I actually think an injection of Taiwanese culture would greatly improve some of the worst traits in the mainland.
People here throw trash on the ground without a thought and fuck each other over fun. I love living on the mainland, but I'd prefer it if mainland China didn't chinesify its neighbors.
I need places to visit when I want to leave China but stay in Asia.
I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

Taiwanese women are objectively less attractive than mainlanders because the majority of Han Taiwanese are of Fujian stock (Taiwan actually used to be administered by the Fujian provincial authorities) and people in Fujian already tend to be shorter and uglier than people in other parts of China. Most of the good-looking Taiwanese girls' parents probably came over as KMT refugees in 1949.
