Seth Rogen & The Lonely Island Making Fyre Festival-Like Movie

Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island are teaming up for a movie about a music festival that goes horribly wrong. Rogen has had some big hits recently – pushing the envelope with hits like Sausage Party and college frat duology Neighbors and Neighbors 2 – and the style of humor he helped to popularize – stoner comedy mixed with absurdist situations and characters – has started to pop up everywhere.

At the same time, comedy trio The Lonely Island – consisting of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone have also been doing their part to change the face of comedy. Having initially found success on SNL, the trio are responsible for 2007’s Hot Rod as well as last year’s Popstar. Rogen and the team have worked together before on hilarious song “Like A Boss”, and now they’re reuniting for a full movie.

With the recent disaster of rapper Ja Rule’s Fyre Festival making headlines, both Rogen and The Lonely Island took to Twitter to reveal that they are in fact, making a movie “about a music festival that goes horribly wrong.” The announcement couldn’t have more perfect timing – so much so that The Lonely Island tweeted further confirmation.

Will there be a Cernovich-type character who cucks Rogen's character?

I read an interview with a seasoned festival consultant.

He says that most new festivals start making money only by the 3rd year.

The cost for this one were according to that one manager estimated to be 50 mio. $ since it essentially had a cost base above the US on an island of the Bahamas (which raises costs again being an island and equipment having to be imported), a completely undeveloped terrain and the goal of being a high-end festival while essentially it was located on a stony beach that cut your feet even in sandals. They planned to haul in tons of sand, earth, plant lawns and plants to make it habitable!

Bands have begun to take 100% of fees upfront for new festivals, because they have been burned before by those upstart festivals. And this case would not be different.

In fact the only band that played was cut short in the act. The singer said that he would have played anyway at least for a while, because he felt bad for the people, but then the Bahamas official intervened and cut off the power supply.

The Bahamas should have withdrawn the permit 3 month before, but were likely sweet-talked by the same "we are rich, we are young, we got this" attitude.

Also the big Caterer hired before were fired 1.5 months before and the moron went with a local kitchen that came with camping tables. The food was gone very soon, since he likely did not pay the local caterer very much and you would need a massive industrial-size kitchen to feed hundreds of people at a time. Maybe it was pure calculation and he just used the small kitchen to keep the people fed before they would all leave.

That asshole knew that this would be crap, but made some token efforts to claim that it was just "a few things outside of our control". Fucking amazing stuff. He did really just the bare minimum of providing them with some water, minimal levels of food and very limited security. He is lucky that no one died or had a serious accident, because that would be another liability issue.

----------------

The movie with Seth Rogan could be hilarious. The producers can even take their clues from the Fyre Festival.

---------

As for trustfunds - I keep forgetting how strong those setups are. They are actually marvelous creations of how families have managed to copy the money-retaining capacity of the top globalist families. In the past they said that most upper-class families don't keep their wealth beyond generation 3 after grandfather had made the cash. Now with trust-funds even morons can manage to keep it for 500 years or longer.

It even saves your money when you are caught being a moronic fraudster.

No wonder the media pushed him left, right and center and he was so well-connected.

I think his trust-fund is in serious danger. His daddy will have to hire the best lawyers and activate his contacts, so that son-wannabe-self-made-billionaire gets off easy.

A trust fund would most likely be untouchable as money is distributed by the trustees and is not legally owned by the beneficiary. He can have $5 in his name and get a $20k check every month.

They can't garnish that check? That seems like a way too easy method of dodging legal judgments.

To clarify :

I was describing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spendthrift_trust - considered legally separate of the beneficiary if set up correctly.

Creditors can garnish anything once it's paid out, but can't touch any assets within the trust. There are, of course, lots of boring details best left to $x,xxx/hr lawyers.

'Disaster' Fyre Festival in Bahamas hit with $100m lawsuit

Organisers of the Bahamas celebrity festival branded a "complete disaster" have been hit with a $100m lawsuit alleging fraud.

They issued another explanation and it was all bullshit:

https://www.fyrefestival.com/

Quote:Quote:

As amazing as the islands are, the infrastructure for a festival of this magnitude needed to be built from the ground up. So, we decided to literally attempt to build a city. We set up water and waste management, brought an ambulance from New York, and chartered 737 planes to shuttle our guests via 12 flights a day from Miami. We thought we were ready, but then everyone arrived.

The team was overwhelmed. The airport was jam packed. The buses couldn’t handle the load. And the wind from rough weather took down half of the tents on the morning our guests were scheduled to arrive. This is an unacceptable guest experience and the Fyre team takes full responsibility for the issues that occurred.

This is utter and complete bullshit.
Every expert told them weeks and months before that they cannot be ready unless someone puts in tens of millions of dollars and even then many thought that it cannot be done for the time-frame.

They claim that 81% of visitors are interested in Fyre Fest 2018. Yeah right.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/f...ct-w479666

Even refunds won't help them.

Also I might add - we will find out how rich and well-connected that McFarland character really is.

After the first 100 mio. $ lawsuit another lawsuit has already been filed:

http://www.thefader.com/2017/05/03/fyre-...nd-lawsuit

[Image: photo-via-the-fader-s-fyre-festival-source.jpg]

This time just 3 likely well-off clients have hired a Los Angelese lawyer to add the point that celebrities were hired to promote the festival without making it clear that they were paid ads and not co-workers, active participants and the like.

Even if McFarland has a billionaire daddy, then somehow I doubt that he will dip into his cash to bail out his son and JaRule. Jarule may have to take a deep financial cut and McFarland will have to live off real work for a change.

He got even shit for calling it Fyre summer camp and for being a "douche".

But frankly I think this is the right response, just have fun with the bizarre situation and don't take it seriously. Only because you have been born rich does not mean that you have constantly be scraping for forgiveness for your stupid "privilege".

Also in the people article you can see Billy "The Fyre" McFarland stand on a table while every one is shouting at him. It is a sign of our times that they did not lynch him then and there.

At least that way he can claim innocence.

The good thing is that no one got hurt or raped as far as we know. The lawsuit would be 50 mio. $ higher if someone really got hurt or died (occasionally it happens, but in those cases they are insured and do their utmost in terms of safety - in this case they would become liable).

Apparently the organizer told the Instagram celebrities like Hadid and Jener not to attend, meaning they knew it would be a disaster, it was designed to fail, that is going to hurt them in court.

Negligence is one thing, gross negligence is something else. This was beyond gross negligence on the level of criminal activity. JaRule and McFarland should have grabbed the cash, moved to Argentina, changed their names and lived there privately for the rest of their lives - then it would have been a solid scam.

Anything else is just fucking stupid. If this thing comes to trial then all those "influencers" will be witnesses including the ones who got paid like Kendell Jenner, who was praised by the LA Times as a big entrepreneur who is investing into the festival business.

The case is so easy to win, that it is not even funny.

Is this legal case a slam dunk? On what grounds?

I have an event running past myself. The small print on the back of the ticket was a life saver for me. It isn't like this guy took a bunch of money and flew off to Vietnam to go hide, they attempted to put on a (shitty version) festival and there were no promises that what they were getting. Buyer beware.

The most I can see happening is they get refunds on tickets but nothing else.

Both sides are idiots on this, you call it even and let both sides clean the egg off their faces.

1. Fraud
2. Fraud & negligent misrepresentation - sites may vary is one thing, but if someone promises you top-notch 5-star hotel and delivers a hostel with rooms for 12 people and showers outside, then it is too much
3. Breach of contract

They are suing McFarland and JaRule personally.

It was quick. The law firm probably does it for free (40% share that is) - trial by jury will rip them a new one.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/legalentert...4c6a7bbda6

The second lawsuits seems to pull in the celebs into the mix.

Also the company is going full retard attacking the former clients for posting shit on social media:

Quote:Quote:

Despite being built on social media, Fyre Festival ironically now views angry Tweeters as the enemy. Presumably in response to the legal backlash, attorneys for the festival have been reportedly sending cease and desist letters to attendees complaining about the festival online, claiming that the statements are untrue and could “incite violence, rioting, or civil unrest.” Threatening to sue its attendees seems to be a heavy-handed attempt by the organizers to hide the disastrous outcome of their festival, but in all likelihood, this will only add fuel to the fire.

Those shitheads must be sued to kingdom come.

And no - it is grossly negligent to start a festival without proper safety measures, security, food and lodgings on an island that was to be fully booked at that time and everyone knew it months in advance.

Yes - the second lawsuit came from just 3 guys - McFarland really bit into the shit-sandwich this time.

And Kosko - the fine print is all good and well, because clients are often unreasonable and will complain about the most stupid thing. Minor errors and shortcomings are correctly viewed with leniency and that is why the small print is good for that. It is even covered if you have some medium level of negligence.

What is not covered is a huge "exclusive" event that everyone from the Bahamas authorities up to experts tell you is not going to work in that timeframe and budget used up till now. 3 days before the shitheads knew:

+ that no big musicians were going to come because they did not pay anyone
+ that no VIP lodgings would be available - just a bunch of refugee tents
+ that this event is going to be a disaster and that is why they called celebrities and told them not to come

So why the fuck did they let the other 1400 people come and in addition have more stranded in Miami?

It would have been easier to call it off, postpone the event. A good portion of people may not even had demanded a refund and would have believed it.

Also I might add - they will roll out all the co-workers and former festival experts hired. They are in too deep for just a refund.

More news from the Fyrefest disaster:

6 lawsuits to date - no surprise - their clientele can afford it, some are even suing the advertising agency:

http://www.billboard.com/articles/column...x-lawsuits

More memes (or real stories with extra pic):

Billy McFarland is the son of two real estate developers, so we are very likely talking in the ballpark of 100+ mio. net worth of his parents.

He already canceled a 50.000$ party in Decembter 2016 since too few celebs agreed to appear. By the way - the top models were paid 100k and at least the biggest dozens got paid 10.000$. He netted roughly 10-25 mio. $, but certainly burned through quite a lot.

But it seemed that the moron got himself a last-minute 5 mio. $ loan shortly before the launch-date, so I rather think that the idiot is just a moron who believed in his own hubris. Surely if all festival managers tell him that it is impossible he - the biggest genius on earth - he will make it happen.

http://www.billboard.com/articles/column...d-millions

Of course there are zero refunds to date - he will claim that he burned through all of it - funneling as much as possible to stupid sham companies that he himself founded.

Also an interesting thing - his co-investor in the crapfest is the wife of an actual competent investment manager:

Bob Jain is CIO at Millennium and his wife pumped millions into this disaster. Let me put this clear my Game-less Indian brother: "You can do a lot better than shack up with a 4 (actually on closer notice she is a 3)." Even if she comes from a good family, white pussy can be had at much higher quality for a guy who is that successful. Now she burns through your cash faster than 1000 Dubai hotties. And at least the latter would be worth it on the pussy front.

Either way - Jezebel responded to the Fyrefestival by asking whether the girls would fuck Billy McFarland.

Most said no, the gays said yes, some girls would do it for money (we know that you are all whores), most lied and said no. If that guy hit on them, then 90% of them would have fucked him.

http://jezebel.com/would-you-have-sex-wi...1794954694

They have a classy poll running:

Quote:Quote:

Yes, for the experience. Let's just do it and be legends, man. 9.7% (566 votes)

Yes, if he was dragged away naked by the authorities midway through. 10.1% (589 votes)

Yes, because I'm attracted to him and think he would "treat me right." 3.1% (181 votes)

Yes, if I was trapped on an island in the Bahamas and it was the only way off. 11.36% (663 votes)

589 girls would have fucked him just to see him being dragged away by authorities.

This Billy McFarland is the epitome of the "positive attitude" bullshit personified:

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2017...s-not-paid

Quote:Quote:

Fyre festival founder to staff: we can't pay you, but you can 'stay and help out'

You can even listen on the audio recording of that moron:

https://news.vice.com/story/audio-fyre-f...tting-paid

So the guy said that he is not going to pay them, but they can stay and work for free. Also when someone told him that it is better to fire them, so they can get unemployment Billy "Golden Spoon" McFarland was of course unaware of the fact that many people do need such payments in order to survive.

That guy lived on moxy-cloud-seven.

Also it is possible that they did not register many employees as one woman says that they got paid in cash or direct wire transfer and they never received any pay stubs. It is possible that some or most will not be able to get any unemployment benefits, since they never were properly registered. "Let's do it - we are legends."

Funny also to hear Ja Rule blather about something in the beginning.

Fyre Media by the way was according to McFarland valued at 90 mio. $ and was set to produce a booking app, but of course Comcast declined to invest in them.

Amazing stuff
[Image: C_VA6Q8XsAAfPVl.jpg]

Starting at minute 7 you see even the Instagram influencers who came to Fyrefestival - they left early of course and were still having some fun at a different location of the island.

E-mails have leaked showing some of the behind-the-scenes panic going down in the weeks leading up to this shitshow. It's very entertaining.

Quote:Quote:

In an urgent April 3 email with the subject line, "RED FLAG- BATHROOMS/ SHOWER SHIPPING," a mid-level Fyre Festival worker alerted senior staff, including 25-year-old co-founder Billy McFarland and Fyre Media president Conall Arora, of a growing crisis: the unexpectedly high costs (estimated to be at least $400,000) of shipping enough toilets and showers to the Bahamas to accommodate an anticipated 2,500 people on the island.

This followed the news that its caterer, Starr Catering Group, had just pulled out of the festival. Those two events prompted one assistant on the email thread to joke, "No one is eating so therefore no ones pooping."

The moneys already long gone. He probably spent a ton just on the promotion, chartering jets etc. Ja Rule is the one who could get slaughtered on this. How many assets do you think Billy McFarland himself actually has? Probably not much.

It's a disaster for both them. The cost of defending these law suits will be in the 7 figures per year likely.

By the time the matters all said and done it's likely McFarland is wiped out and Ja Rule is either hurting or wiped out.

Ja Rule might actually be able to avoid criminal liability but McFarland has a tougher case.

No idea about the hearing - there are 8 private lawsuits and a criminal investigation going on at the same time. This may take a while before anything definitive happens.

Here you see one of those stupid social-media-challenges the entourage of Jarule and McFarland. You can recognize a few friends of similar character like McFarland and a bunch of models/Instagram trollops.

There is an article out by the New York Times which looks at the stuff in more detail:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/21/arts/...ation.html

Also a Wikipedia entry:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyre_Festival

He left a ton of unpaid bills in the wake:
Quote:Quote:

Ian Nicholson, a carpenter, says he is still owed payments for the 18-hour days he worked for the Fyre Festival.

That guy worked for weeks for the shitheads and now has no money - will likely get none.

Quote:Quote:

MaryAnn Rolle, the owner of Exuma Point Beach Bar and Grill in the Bahamas, says she’s owed $134,000 from festival organizers.

Turns out that they rented all the tents and equipment and the company had to pay for the return of the stuff as well - if they even got it back.

That is a screenshot of the time even before the Festival, though the even scheduling app already clearly diverted funds to the Fyre Festival.

My guess is that he lived way beyond his means by renting private jets, flying across the world with models and cocaine. He even rented out his own Maserati (with driver, so no risk and pretty much useless in that regard). His parents were millionaires, but were likely living less high on the hog than him.

They even encouraged visitors to transfer 1500$ to an electronic wristband payment system before the event. All of it was designed so that they would get additional cash.

The guy never even left the tent except for the brief time where he went up on the table. Otherwise he stayed in the guarded and secured VIP area, probably high on coke and drunk, then went off the island on a private yacht or plane.

Also note the outlandish claims and various other idiotic promises:

Quote:Quote:

Mr. McMullan said that he paid Mr. McFarland almost $100,000 for a website, which was never delivered. “I was told he had made this big company, he had made millions of dollars,” Mr. McMullan said. “I thought he was smarter than he was.”

Quote:Quote:

Mr. McFarland is now accused of more than sloppy bookkeeping. Some investors believe that his company was overstating its financial position. In January, Fyre Media said in company documents that it owned land in the Bahamas worth $8.4 million and had $21.6 million in revenue from December alone — claims that one investor, Oleg Itkin, said in a lawsuit were probably fictitious.

I know that some Jetset guys burn through 50.000$ to 100.000$+ per month for various living expenses - and they don't even consider it that high.

He probably started out his various ventures in order to subsidize his expensive lifestyle, that he actually could not afford. My guess is that his coke bill was already 20.000$+ per month to keep the models entertained.

Now the gravy train has come to a screeching end and he is under FBI investigation.

Billy's under arrest, facing 20 years.

Looks like the dude actually forged documents to make himself look richer than he was to woo investors:

Quote:Quote:

Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon Kim has accused McFarland of providing false financial information to at least two investors who put upwards of $1.2 million toward the event.

In a press release, Kim specifically notes two incidents in which McFarland “perpetrated a scheme to defraud.” McFarland allegedly told investors that his company, Fyre Media, had earned millions of dollars in revenue from artist bookings, when in realty the company’s revenue was less than $60,000.

Additionally, McFarland allegedly provided one investor with “an altered brokerage statement that purported to show that he owned shares of a specific stock worth over $2.5 million, when in reality he owned shares of that stock valued at less than $1,500.”
