I am planning on a year in SEA and may make RP my base since the visa laws are pretty good for us.

Good idea! Not only the immigration laws are good but also the cost of living is cheap outside of the capital and international flights to Hong Kong, Thailand & Singapore are cheap too.

Here's an al jazeera video background of the muslim problem in Mindanao for anyone interested. Mindanao is a landmass in the southern tip, the size of, say Pennsylvania (very small).

Anyways, if you're gaming in Davao, I kind of know your type and I have no problem with it.

Just don't be like this US Marine, could be very bad for you.

Mostly the same - a lot of 6s and 7s - with a few stunners. Seen a few 9s but the place is not teeming with them.

Can happen everywhere in south east Asia, not only in Davao.

I once had an argument with a hooker in Cebu. I met her in a nightclub and she was quite a stunner. My friend instantly started dancing with one of her friends and a few minutes later he told me he lost his cellphone which was in his pocket. At that point we both were tipsy and decided to go outside of the nightclub for a smoke. This girl followed us outside and started to scream and was angry at us for some reason, we decided to leave the place and she kept following us. She pushed me and was yelling at me (I think because I didn't pay for her drinks and all her friends, I really didn't care about them, so why should I) at that point I was tired of this situation and was walking towards a taxi with my friend. I tryed to calm her down but that didn't work, she tryed to hit me etc so I pushed her away from me telling her to leave me alone and to shut up, she fell on the floor and then all hell broke loose. Security guards didn't let us go and the bitch was turning completely nuts. Police came and brought my friend, the bitch, her friends and myself to the police station. My friend and I were locked up in an office without windows and without airconditioning for about 2 and a half hours.

She filed a complaint against me: She said I tryed to force her to go to my place in order to have sex. She said she refused and I hit her which made her fall on the floor. She wanted a compensation.

Fortunately the police officer with who I was dealing with was a very religious person and was on my side.

There was a little girl killed on Cebu island and they had witnesses saying it was a foreigner and a local girl. The police picked up a Norwegian man and his girl at the airport. They locked them both up.

Both couples had an alibi that checked out. They still didn't release them. I wouldn't want to think about the living conditions in jail there.

I heard they finally released them but it took a long time even when their stories checked out.

Stuff like this happens. Foreigners will be targets in almost all countries.

If you are scared then stay home.

I stayed 5 weeks in davao in December and Januari. i stayed with a friend who had a massive crib in the outskirts of town.

I went out a lot and never had any safety issues. Jeepneys are cheap with only 7 pesos a ride. Actually met a nice girl on one.

had sex with 8 girls there, most of them multiple times. Sometimes if you go out you're the only white guy. Most of the times i went to torres where a beer in the club is little over a dollar.

Here is my Davao report (I was there in July 2011):

Areas with Clubs

MTS = Ma(r?)tina Town Square: quite chiled, mostly mixed but also all girls groups

Prime Square = Torres: People from Davao go here for dancing, some people warned about the place, indeed it seemed like a more rough place (young guys getting drunk)

Fat bobby’s (life music), Hybrid, Starr, Gimik – close to the Torres, but I couldn’t really check it out (I went there on Thursday, but it was completely empty)

Daygame

Gaisano City Mall: I met a nice shop clerk, the mall looks quite shitty

Abrezza Mall: New, upscale mall, I met quite some people there

NCCC: there are many small booth with jewelery, good for pick up, I got many phone numbers here

I had not enough time to try the other malls
People’s park: go there after 6pm, before it is too hot and empty. The park is quite small, if you are lucky you find 2 or 3 good sets (only girls, ok looking)

Somebody in the forum suggested Uni of Mindanao and John Paul II college. One problem: uni in the philis starts with 16 and usually lasts for 3 years! When I went to the uni the oldest girl was 20. Ok, everybody looked at me, but there was no aircon, and they are just too young!

Hotel

I stayed at the Tinhat Hotel in Artiaga street, which is not a particularly good area, but close to all the interesting spots, cheap, good. I paid 200 Peso because the girl stayed over till the morning.

My experience

I didn't see a single hooker!! So Friday, in the mall, some cute girls (still not tons), and so many people looked at me, all the girls I talked to were super friendly, but out of the seven numbers that I gave out and the two that I collected only 3 wrote back and only 1 wanted to meet (I couldn’t receive messages anymore on Sunday, cause I left the country); maybe because I told them that I am already leaving tomorrow ... I met also 2 couchsurfing girls, they were not hot (one even admited that she looks different than on the picture, she wrote me this just before we met!), and I seperated from both of them, but they were sending super many text messages. The one girl from the mall that wanted to meet, only 18, but really hot, and huge tits, she came late, and in the meanwhile I met a nice milf in a bar (31, but looked younger), then I met the 18 year old one. Her boyfriend called every 2 minutes, she didn't answer the phone, but I could see that she didn't feel well, so we seperated, but she wanted to meet me so bad the next day, she wrote several text messages. Anyway, after the 18 year old I meet again the milf, I drink with her and her friends, they talk about sex, are very funny, they invite me for drinks, she goes home with me, and we have some crazy (really!) sex.

It didn't feel like I was getting lucky, I genuinely have the feeling it is easier to meet girls in Davao than in Manila! They also looked a bit better, but still, they were not the most beautiful girls in the world. And I did not see any hookers or meet any girl that behaved like one. Moreover, in Davao you will be the only white/western/non-asian dude wherever you go.

I stayed there only 2 days!

I went to MTS, Prime Square, and all the shopping malls I mentioned.

Fat bobby’s (life music), Hybrid, Starr, Gimik (they are one next to the other): I had dinner in fat bobby's, the other places I just had a glimpse inside. Because it was a Thursday, there were very few people.

I just arrived in Davao yesterday and can confirm that being a gringo here is definitely a novelty and will bring you alot of female attention. The malls and streets are full of eager girls who want to help the few foreigners they see and its easy to get their numbers. Can also confirm that the fatty population is growing slowly but steadily, especially compared to other SE Asian countries, but nothing to worry about Yet. Having dates here every day is no problem and most things in the city are really cheap. Now comes the part about sealing the deal with all the numbers and figuring out the details about what works best here. I will keep the forum updated in the next couple of weeks.

Getting your visa extended is a piece of cake, as Neil Skywalker told me before I came to Davao. They will give you upto 2 months no problem. Just go to any travel agency in Davao and pay 500 pesos on top of the 3000 the immigration bureau charges. If you dont want to pay the 500 and have 2 to 3 hours to burn, then go directly to the immigration office ....jp laurel avenue in front of victoria mall. The travel agency i went to, was half a block from the immigration office and obtained it for me in a couple of hours with no hassles. The exchange rate now is 43 pesos per dollar.
Im staying at jun and dell apartelle which offers a suite with kitchen and private bathroom for 18,000 a month (look them up on google). It was recommened previously in this post and is as good as ive found here for month long stays. Been sick with the flu and fever for a week, but the pace is picking up again, now that im back to normal. As Ive said before, this place is good because there are so many normal girls who have never met a gringo who are dtf, and the p4p scene is very well hidden and only exists on the fringes. It does get boring after awhile, but for a month or two its damn good for the notch count.

This is a great datasheet. Was looking at Cebu as a possible destination in a few months time but now I am swinging strongly towards Davao. The pro's for Davao over Cebu seem to be less p4p and ladyboy presence and greater foreigner novelty factor by what a lot of you guys are saying. Also Samal Island looks great for some R&R on a beach. Girls + Beaches + Cheap Living = Great Holiday. From what everyone says the Philippines is the easiest place to game and this destination would be a great place to get some confidence for a rookie to game like myself.

I contacted junanddellapartments to get a price quote. For a studio with kitchen it'll cost 800 php per day and 13,000 php per month (really good price for the month). I asked for a deal because I'm staying for 2 weeks. He said the best he can do is 700 php per day. Has anybody who has stayed there gotten it cheaper than this? It will be mid june I'll be there (off season). I'm wondering should I just accept the 700 per day or try to bargain more.

I stayed in one of the bigger apartment there for 10 or 12 days in April on Cr33pin's suggestion.
The place is good. It's like a 3 storey motel, in a better residential location, but still handy to everything.
They charged me 1200 per day, even though the monthly rate is half that at 18,000.
I couldn't bargain them down for 2 weeks, but I was already there. You may have more leverage from a distance if they don't want to lose your business, but I got the impression that the women running it are just employees following instructions for a non resident owner.

Yeah, you probably had the apartment with a living room. I can do without that. I think I will send him an email saying I'll take it for 9,000(640 a day) and see what they say.

What does this have to do with Davao? It's like saying that Beverly Hills is unsafe because it is geographically near Compton. Or that Manhattan is unsafe because it isn't far from Harlem.

The murder and crime rate in Davao is lower than in Cebu and Manila, statistically. You're safer in Davao than either of those two places.

And you're more likely to be in a motorcycle accident, run over, or catch a tropical bug that kills you than being murdered anyway--in nearly every country. People should work on minimizing those risks before worrying about terrorism so much.

Since thread was revived, I am wondering few things:

How much has situation changed from 2011 ? Is being white there still such novelty ?
Where can I find more high-end apartments for long-term rental? I will be going with buddy and we are looking something in 50k range ... Is there any alternative website to sulit.com.ph ?

Also about internet, how fast/stable can you get it in the center of the city?

Oh and, what would be best dating website for davao?

Cheers.

That being said, you will quickly grow tired of texting. If you send a filipino a text and they don't reply within 5-10 minutes, they're probably dead. Seriously. And if you receive a text and don't reply within 5-10 minutes, you'll probably get a text that says "where are you? are you okay?". And no, I'm not making this up...this happened to me several times. I sometimes shut my cell phone off to escape the non-stop texts. Filipinos are amazingly fast at sending texts...if texting were an olympic event, they'd win hands down.

This bit cracked me up HARD

I hate texting.

I'm in Davao now.

I'm looking for a wingman to share experiences with and to hit up clubs to pick up girls. I've had some good success here of course on this trip and previous ones, but find myself alone sometimes after turning down girls that are below my high standards. When you've had cute or hot girls, non hot ones don't cut it and I would rather be alone.

I've run into many virgins here, and even a girl that has never kissed a guy. Most girls want serious relationships which I have major issues with so usually avoid them and look for other girls. I think Davao might be safe, but too conservative for what I want, FWB and 1 night stands.

PM me and let's work together to success in Davao City! It can be had but needs persistence, luck and meeting as many girls as possible.
