Time for the play-offs! Who do you guys like in the first round?

I'll go, Rangers in 7, Bruins in 5, Devils in 6 and Penguins in 7 for the east. Then Kings in 7, Blues in 6, Coyotes in 7 and Wings in 6 in the west.

Why do you think the Kings will beat the Canucks?

Inconsistent goal-tending, they're already down one Sedin, and they made a deep run last year that ultimately ended in disappointment. Vancouver also played like they were more concerned with winning the President's Trophy at the end of the year, than resting guys, and it's worth noting that often backfires as two of the three previous Pres Trophy winners exited in the first round.

I'm not saying it will happen, merely an upset pick, but I think Quick could get hot and be the catalyst for Vancouver's early undoing. I just think they're due for a first round loss.

I like Pittsburgh to win it all, right now. Assuming they get by Philly, arguably their toughest challenge in the east.

Fair enough, I'm just baised because I'm from Vancouver. We'll see how it pans out starting tonight haha.

Yeah I was, but don't tell anyone. Didn't know about the RVF back then or I would have had my phone out posting in the "Was this beta?" thread at the same time.

Shitty loss for the Canucks, but an epic win for Philly! That series is gonna be brutal.

Canucks v Rangers in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Maybe the Vancouver city council has learned their lesson and will agree to bigger police overtime payments this year.

[b] If the Canucks will loose because of Luongo, I guess that will be for the Rangers . Lundquist Has never accomplished anything in the playoff and He haves a negative record in the playoff . I wouldn't be surprised if the Sens put the first upset .
Prediction for me a Nashville/Pittsburgh final .

I think they've set it up so there will be no outdoor screenings and any screenings will be in small family oriented (read: no beer) settings

Tragic. The street parties were alcohol free last year as well, but the city gave us the benefit of the doubt because we were awesome during the olympics.

I live right between Waterfront Station and Stadium Stations, and I could feel the buildup happening. People would sit around and crush beer and booze and then walk up to the street party shitfaced. No surprise where the trains they were on originated from.

The day of the riots I seen these punks sneaking around and putting on bandanas and passing around fuels and crow bars. From my place I watched them light two police cars on fire using some type of white phosphorus like a flare.

Fuckers were prepared, win or lose, to start some shit.

Honestly, this year is gearing up to be completely unpredictable. There isnt a single series right now that I see as a "sure thing". And LA proved it last night in their win over Vancouver.

Bold prediction: The winner of the Nashville Detroit series (which I predict to be Nashville) will make it to the conference finals, and likely the Finals. I Think this might be Nashville's step up year

Yeah I saw a picture of a guy in a shirt that said "im just here to riot" with a black bandana. Pathetic.

Which is why it sucks Detroit plays Nashville in the first round. Weber's post game attack on Zetterberg should have the Wings all fired up for game 2. Detroit has been damn near unbeatable at home, hoping with a game 2 win, Detroit can close it out in 6. I've already mentioned I'm a lifelong Wings fan though, so I'm probably being too optimistic.

Not at all surprised with Vancouver's loss last night, I think they'll bounce back in game 2, but if LA can hold serve at home in game 3 & 4, they should win this series.

Hoping for Bs over the the Caps tonight. Were down Horton and Mcquaid. Ovechkin may be sucking lately, but there is no doubt he has tons of skill. Gonna be a good series no doubt

Wish I'd been able to watch the Senators vs. Rangers game, currently finishing up the Sharks vs. Blues.

A decent parody for any of you Vancouver fans. They are on the ropes now.

But really, after watching the Flyers Pens series, all the other games are boring. Damn that series has action! Those Flyers Quebecois squad is on fire!

All the other games are boring? You do realize all 3 Nashville/Detroit games have been 3-2, right?

Edit: Oh you mean in comparison to Philly/Pitt, nvm, fair enough! 72 penalty minutes in the 1st period yesterday lol.

That Philly/Pitt series has been insane, but it also sucks the Pens will be done so quick. I really expected that one to go 7, at least 6. Biggest surprise of the play-offs so far to me. Even more than the Kings, tho I picked them in 7, not 4!

Currently watching the Blackhawks vs. Coyotes game. Marian Hossa just got taken off the ice on a board after a rough hit. No penalty called.

A friend of mine also gave me two hockey sticks tonight, from the Cincinnati AHL days - one stick from Bob Wren, the other from current Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. Win!

I haven't fallow all the series but, I think the best one at the moment is the bruins/caps .
Phi/Pitt series has intansity but, the pens performence piss me off . It's not acceptable to choke like that .
At least I'm happy for the flyers quebecers , especially briere/talbot/giroux who had a big impact in my hometown (Gatineau) .

Well, my first round picks were a rather pedestrian 5-3, so let's hope round 2 goes better!

Blues in 6, Predators in 6, Rangers in 7 and Flyers in 5

They're losing right now but I like the Blues. I say 6 games too.

Put in 130 hours within the last two weeks at work. Also lost about five lbs. so I haven't had the time to watch hockey, which blows. Already looking forward to next season for the ECHL... I'll also probably be attending a few AHL games next season since my brother is transferring to a city with an AHL franchise.
