Facebook Deactivation 90 Day Challenge- How long have you guys gone without Facebook?
04-16-2014, 02:47 AM
I recently read the article by Roosh about how he was spending too much time with social media i.e Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
I decided too take up a 90 day challenge by deactivating my Facebook account, and twitter account, and also only checking my emails twice a day, reading the forums only an hour a day, and deleting apps on my phone and seeing if this leads me to higher productivity and focus.
I know that Facebook has been a means of way to contacting girls and seeing what they are doing but I feel that Facebook can be a drag and wastes valuable time online and honestly have really gotten a few bangs off it by keeping in touch with girls.
Has anyone done this before? I am curious to see if you leads to uptick in productivity, and or does it make you go out and game harder because you out in social scene more and can't rely on Facebook, social media, etc.
What are your guys thoughts on this? and has anyone tried this? (maybe Roosh can chime in)

Great idea.
I find it hard to do on the road. Facebook has become invaluable for staying in touch with people I meet in my travels. I also like to check in to get my messages from people back home, and I know my friends and family like to be able to follow my photos of where I'm at and what I'm up to.
Establishing rules can be helpful though. Like only 30 minutes and only on weekends, etc. Would be nice to strike a manageable balance.
I've gotten addicted way too many times than is reasonable for an adult male.

Use twitter (valuable in my line of work), deleted Facebook a long time ago and have Vkontate because of FSU girls. Definitely spend too much online, but 50-75% of it is work related, so I have a limited possibilities to tone it down.

I have unfollowed every "friends" on Facebook, I only use it as a newsreader and for organizing meetings with real friends.
I could not stand the stupid shit everyone posting.

I actually just deactivated my FB maybe a week ago. I'll re-activate it at some point, I'm just taking a break.
I also gave up porn starting several weeks ago.

I deleted my account 6 months ago and I dont miss it. Sure, you may lose some contacts on the road, but if you really want to stay in touch with somebody, you can do it without facebook. The contacts you lose because you don't have facebook are not worth keeping in the first place.

Deactivated mine a year ago. I'm out of touch with everyone but on the bright side I always have something to talk about when meeting an old friend.
I also go out of my way to reconnect with friends or call someone I haven't seen in a while. It feels like facebook in real life without shitty posts and stupid pictures.

I haven't been on Facebook since early-2009. I am definately better off without it, as I remember the time I spent on it before. There's so many better ways to both spend your time and connect with people.

I've gone up to a month without accessing FB. To eliminate any urge, I blocked "@facebook.com" emails from being delivered a long time ago.
Pretty much the only reason I spend the ~5 minutes a day on there that I do is because I'm planning my summer travel with relatives in Europe, so we communicate through FB.
The only real use for FB is as a tool to recon chicks. That's why I haven't deactivated my account yet. And I don't Twitter or Instagram.
Edit: I'm on there under a pseudonym with ~430 "friends", of which only about 15 of them (actual friends and family) know who I am.

I enjoy facebook. I'm a social butterfly.
Facebook is a good life line for me. I can see where my friends are and meet them there if it is something I want to do. It opens up a lot opportunities for me. I can even use it to implement stalker game if need be. Not that I ever do that but you know.

FB is pretty easy to get away from these days. I went a year and only reactivated because I moved abroad. Nobody really posts anything anymore except for their self promotion and to force their views on others.... Years ago I can see how it would have been a problem.
If you need motivation. Add some people who annoy the fuck out of you. That will keep you away from that devil bastard.

Shut that shit off a month ago and don't miss it. I hated it when I had it and only kept it around to read news articles my close friends would occasionally post on their walls. Now they just tell me in person.

Her: Do you have Facebook.
Me: No, I work for the government. Do you have Skype
Her: No
Me: (thinking, she's an attention whore, wants 1-way comm, not 1-1 comm) Do you have email? (everyone does)
However I'm not into the girls I was into at 40. Want a girl who has it clear in her mind she wants husband and kids.

Facebook Deactivation 90 Day Challenge- How long have you guys gone without Facebook?

I used to be on myspace back in the day and met alot of girls on there. When Facebook first came out I opened an account and used it a bit but just never really liked it. I probably haven't been on FB in 5 plus years.
I hate how some people eveery meal they eat, everything they buy every minute of their life has to be documented on facebook.
I don't use facebook because it seems like nothing but drama and trouble. I had a buddy who was seeing a girl, went on a double date with another friend of ours. The girls of course were taking pics of themselves and my buddies at the bar. On his way home he gets a bunch of texts from this girl he's seeing who apparently is a freind of a friend of a friend who are all connected through facebook and saw he was out on a double date with a buddy of ours and two girls.
I aslo constantly hear my buddies complaining about being tagged in some pic they don't want to be tagged in. Alot of my cousins have FB and they are friends with their parents, my parents, their grandma and have stuff on tehir fb they can see which I wouldn't want them to see. Then if your not self employed there's the whole thing of companies looking you up. My dads company actually makes you turn over your fb login to them as part of the interview process kinda big brother if you ask me.
Anyhow, there are some downsides to not having fb. Occasionally I'm out of the loop and people are like oh I woulda invited you but we planned it on fb, evereyone seems to forget im the one person who refuses to be part of fb. I also kinda like how you can reconnect with old college buddies and people you havn't seen but to me the negatives outweight the positives and just dont want to be a part of it
* one other thing. I don't think enjoying social media or even spending time on there is a bad thing necessarily. SOcial media is huge for business. If you run a business you should be spending a lot of time on there. Even if you dont run your own business you could do social media consulting if you really have a good understanding of social media as well as some business and marketing knowledge. That said if your just jerking off on social media doing nothing productive but posting stupid pics then yes it is a waste of time but it is huge for business. My mom was just taking a social media class to learn the basics and another job skill but she said her class was full of baby boomers who own wineries, wine shops, and all types of businesses who need a social media presence and they are learning basic shit not even how to post an update, just here is what facebook is, here is what twitter is. The class wasn't cheap either. Ther'es a huge market for either consulting businesses on their social media presence or even managing it for them

I will raise you: Never had a FB, Twitter, Instagram, MySpace, or Pinterist account. Never will either. Never liked the concept of sharing details of my life in a public way.

There's an implicit narcissism in this shit. "I am broadcasting to the world." Owl City made millions starting from his YouTube videos, but that was after a year of busting ass making a great record.
You are broadcasting to the world-- but why do you think you are worth knowing about? That's the more important question.

Haven't posted anything on fb or instagram for amost a year. I just check for fb ocassianally to check for messages from family members.
Just this week I updated my profile pic and I got more likes than I have ever been given in social media. Since I didn't post at all I feel like now since I posted, it's such a grandiose event like an eclipse and they must like. Not only that but the mystery since no one knows what ive been doing since I graduated or what im doing with my life.
I wonder what its going to be like when I post back on ig. But I do find my life more productive and comes to show how im ready to live without social media and all that bs. Hence, I will go back one day but I won't give it as much importance as I once did.

Only use mine for family and very close friends and business associates. Even with 41 friends there's so much shit in my feed I barely read anything. A tip is to "star" people you care about who don't post piles of garbage and it'll stick them to the top for easy reading.
