I lived in Medellin for over a year, and I could live there again. The weather is great, warm but usually not too humid and never buggy. It doesn't have the greatest food in the world, but there are some great restaurants if you can hunt them down. It has the best beer and some of the best weed in Colombia. You can find gringos to party with, or you can never cross another pair of blue eyes, depending on where you go. And for fuck's sake, don't be another gringo in sandals and shorts. Wear a fitted shirt, long pants (jeans are fine) and nice shoes. Clothes make the man in all of Colombia.

Clearly, it is not the easiest city to get laid in, but it's not that difficult if you spend some time there or pipeline before you arrive. I never had much night game luck there (I'm a shit dancer for starters), but CC has been an online goldmine. Getting on the metro and heading north from El Poblado often has good results, too. Talking to grocery store aisle girls in La Mayorista or Mallorca, really anywhere outside of Poblado is a great idea, as has been brought up by many guys here before. And if you don't mind importing, you can fly girls into Medellin CHEAP from other towns in Colombia, as Medellin seems to be regarded as a great place to visit by Colombianas. Coastal girls in particular will fly to Medellin for the weekend, blow your mind, and then fly home with five hundred new photos to show off and don't seem to give a shit if you ever call them again or not. Me gustan las Costenas.

I agree 100% with Scotian that December is the best time to visit, basically from December 1st on. Pre-Christmas Medellin is like pre-Carnaval Barranquilla, everyone seems to be in a festive mood and everything just seems to happen easier. The key in Colombia (like everywhere?) is to approach. Latin girls are fun, just have fun with them and don't take anything too seriously, they're playing you too.

In my experience, Volk is right about it being almost impossible to crack Colombian social circles; you can be a fun diversion for them and bang their cousins sometimes, but you're never going to be in the club. Another note about having Colombian guy friends- they can and will help you if you're cool to them, but remember that the social ethic in Colombia is "papaya offered is papaya shared." In other words, if you can be taken advantage of, you will be. So don't be a sucker around the girls or the dudes.

I'd agree with the statements above. Medellin is getting to the point of overhype. If you look at the tourism numbers, it has definitely spiked, especially due to low cost carriers (thanks Spirit).

Me and a friend rented a place in Poblado for a week and ended up each only banging one girl. She was not even that hot (colombian 5/6, or a solid american 6) but we picked them up at the park right in front of the cathedral. On Sunday's its a good place to try and pick them off. The ones you can fuck via non nightlife / online game are the ones you usually can rawdog (10x better then a condom). We were the only foreigners in the park.

If you want p4p, my friend told me he banged a legitimate 7 for $10. Which is quite mind boggling, but I am completely anti p4p.

I live in medellin...latin lover hit the nail on the head for a large portion. But, poor girls are just as hot if not hotter than the jet setting girls. They will be around. Btw, as a foreigner you will have zero chance with them unless ( SEE past posts by MIXX).

This is a pretty good strategy and has worked for me in the past as well, although if you invite a crowd of girls out, be prepared to pay for them all. When I invite girls out who I'm not totally into, I just take them to one of those small crossover spots on la 70 near Estadio, hopefully they'll bring a cute friend or two but its also fairly easy to meet others in these places, the people are usually friendly.

I don't know about Medellin specifically because this will be my first December in Medellin. But I have spent many a December in Cali and it will be good or bad depending on how good you look, how well you speak Spanish and what it is that you are happy with as far as women go.

The closer you get to Christmas the more the hottest chicks will be hooked up. The upside is that many chicks that aren't into partying that much will be going out more than usual. So if you are a decent looking guy, you will have more 6 and 7's than you could possibly do.

I didn't have much luck on Airbnb when I was looking for a one bedroom to rent last November, I ended up finding a decent spot on Craiglist though so you may want to check that out too. Booked my ticket to Bogota yesterday, I'll be there next Friday until early April.

Definitely, there is a huge potential in MDE. Lots of beautiful, diverse women : plenty of good-looking Latinas, Whites or morenas. Better looking on average than in Mexico or Panama, and, with quite low bitch-shields

The city itself, at least in Poblado and Laureles, is clean, modern, homogenous, feels safe... Many big police cars patrolling, and lots of "security assistants" in orange "chalecos"-sleeveless sweaters, to help tourists in places like Parque Lleras... I wonder who pays them, the State tourism ministry or the city? I'll ask them tomorrow... Alas, they are teamed as follows: a male assistant with a female assistant, so, no easy game targets there ...

Weather though has been a bit disappointing : been mostly cloudy, and humid, for the last 8 days. But, never really cold. Also, it is the low-season, so there are few tourist chicks to game in the hostels, if it is your thing... MDE anyway seems to attract more male than female tourists... Well, because it is off-season, Parque LLeras is a bit dead at the moment, except on week ends, but then the crowd is mostly local and quite (too) young... Parque LLeras anyway is great if you come with a girlfriend, on account of all the restaurants and bars with good vibes and open spaces, and not very expensive

True, it is hard to enter a social circle in MDE nightclubs, but it is possible - here is how I did it,once : Wait until 2 or 3 in the morning, you'll see more and more hot Colombian girls dancing "erotically", with lot of grinding, sometimes just between them girls, one in front of the other (undulating face to face, very close) or one right behind the other : then you can position yourself behind one of them, or if you dare, between them, and partake in the grinding - thus dancing a while with your new-found Colombian hotties... I saw Colombian dudes jumping on such occasions, so I did the same, once, and was absolutely not rejected So, we were 2 dudes (a Colombian and yours truly) and 2 chicks, dancing together (each man strategically positioned behind a girl)

I've looked through it and there were some decent places but it's more geared towards Spanish speakers. I had better luck on Airbnb. Many places in Poblado ask for around $1,100 USD minimum for a month for a studio or small 1bd, but there are a few places that seem to be run by local guys who don't understand they can charge more. These guys are charging in the $700-800 USD range.

What is a good daily budget?

I speak pretty decent Spanish. I still think EE is the place for me, but Russian is still slow in coming. Might as well dust off the Spanish and see what this part of the world has to offer.

From a scouting perspective is a week good? Just want to get a taste/feel for the city. If anyone thinks another city would be better let me know.

Medellin is the most livable, modern, clean and efficient city in the country, it really is a nice place to visit or live. The down side is that its attracted a lot of foreign guys there so your value as a foreigner is the lowest in that city, couple that with the flaky attitude of the local girls and I would rate Medellin as my least favourite city in Colombia to date in. That being said, some guys do very well there; if you're a good looking guy, stylish with money to spend (Paisa love that image, they're materialistic) and speak a decent amount of Spanish (or not as Linux and Atlantic have shown us), you could "kill it". Personally I prefer to chase women in cities like Bogota, Cali, Pereira, etc but either way you will have fun in Medellin, its a good city to party in.

In Medellin I stay in a decent hotel that costs 55.000, eat two cheap meals at about 10.000 each then a nicer one in the evening for about 25.000-30.000, beer is cheap at about 4.000 but mixed cocktails aren't at about 20.000, you're better off buying a bottle of aguardiente or rum for about 40.000 a pint if you're going out. Throw in a couple of coffees at Juan Valzdez at 3500 each and return taxi trip to Lleras at 20.000 and a typical day would be about 170.000 (if I don't drink then I'll do something else like take a girl to a movie, about the same price as the pint). That comes in at about $55 USD for MY typical day in Medellin, obviously yours will be different, I can double that if I go out and booze heavily and buy food/drinks for a girl which I usually do on the weekends but overall its still cheap, especially if you're spending US dollars, you lucky fuckers!

A lot of guys do longer stays and pay by the month. It stretches the budget much further. If you only have a week, it's not going to break the bank no matter what you do.
