6) A lot of things. To be honest, in hindsight my first trip was quite shitty because I had no travel experience at all and my social skills were lacking. However, I fell in love with traveling which led to two more trips to Southeast Asia (6 months and 2 months) that were amazing.

Funny anecdote: On the third day of my first solo trip 3 ladyboys stole my wallet with all my credit cards and cash on my way home at 4am. I advise everyone to take a solo trip, especially for people who have self confidence issues. Its so exciting especially if you go to a country thats far away from your home. I had no way of convincing my parents to send me to Bangkok, so I told them Id visit my friends in London. I did actually buy a ticket to London, but changed it to Bangkok 4 hours before the flight departed. Of course my parents were furious when they found out I went to Bangkok, but I proved to them that Thailand is actually a very safe country. Now theyre cool with me going to SEA.

I have very over protective parents, this held me back a lot during my youth.

The solo trip definitely helped my self confidence dearly. Now I feel like I can travel anywhere in the world on a 2 hour notice. Life is about adventuring and taking risks. There is just so much to see and explore. When you get used to rolling solo, you no longer need to take shit from anyone, you know that you can enjoy everything while rolling alone, be it women, sightseeing.

- Hostels mostly, had an apartment in Prague for almost a month, and in London with an English girl I banged in Greece. Also a few nights in some hotels, a few nights on some beaches and a night in Vondelpark.

- The cultural places of western Europe will always be there, but the women of Eastern Europe will be changing fast. And also that people were getting paid decent money to teach English in places like Krakow and Prague which were amazing in 1998.

You can do what you want, when you want, and for an introvert like myself it's great to be able to dictate when I want to party and when I want to have some down time. Having a whole double room to yourself also gives you the logistics to bring girls back as you please. I almost backed out when my friend couldn't make the trip, but so glad I didn't. I also wish I knew how amazing the Thai islands are and how perfectly high energy beach party game suits me. Definitely should have spent more time exploring the islands and getting more European and South American flags.

My first real solo trip, as we would define it here at RVF was to Thailand when I was 25.

My first RFV-style solo trip was 2 months. Most of the time I was in BKK, but also escaped the city, when I was heading to Taipei or to Koh Samui.

Mostly Airbnb.com. The quality you get in BKK is just stunning. Apartment in a high-rise building with a pool and a gym. What else can you ask for?

I would all men encourage to travel alone. Traveling with your girlfriend or your buddies is a waste of time and will not improve you as a man.

It's nice for a week. Chilling at some beach is better with a girl then alone. But real travel has to be done alone.

That depends on a lot of things, not only your game and looks. The city and country you go to (obviously some are easier than others), the research you do (see: thread-40071.html) and also the purpose of your trip play a huge role. It can be really tough to get laid within a week if you are completely new to a city, spend all afternoon to do sightseeing, didn't do any pipelining and have shitty logistics.

5) Rented the cheapest room I could find on Airbnb for the LA portion, probably a good call even though it really hurt me logistics-wise. Then, after leaving Van it was a mix of motels, hostels and got stuck sleeping next to the highway a few times. I've seen hostels get a bad rep on here sometimes but they were a ton of fun for me, really good way to meet some like-minded fellow travelers to go drink and have some fun with. Granted I'm only 22 so maybe not the best option for the older more financially established guys.

6) Only thing really was like I mentioned above, more planning. Winging it is fun because you can just do whatever you feel like, but sometimes you'll feel a little lazy and waste a day missing out on stuff. Much easier to force yourself to do something when you already have something planned. And then when you're out there doing it you're probably gonna start enjoying yourself

7) Yea but not as much as I would've liked. LA killed me, only got two bangs in the month I was there. Suppose I should've expected this with my newb-level game and terrible logistics.

Overall though, one of the best experiences of my life

My last trip i did solo was to Croatia. I booked a small apartment in a residential area of Zagreb, through AirBNB. When I reached my destination, I waited at the central station for my host to arrive. She was 20 minutes late, the whole time i was thinking i got scammed and what was my next move.
She finally showed up, apologized because she had a minor problem come up. We walked to the apartment, it was spotless and she even supplied the basics like coffee, sugar, tea etc.

The feeling of sitting in "your" own apartment halfway around the world and living like a local, is simply amazing and to me a rite of passage.
