Well A lot of these suit or way too flashy in my opinion and a waste of cash.

Like I have posted before, only men complain about "overdressing" usually it's because it's financial constraints/budgets or just plain laziness.

I've never heard of any women refer to any man, anywhere as "overdressed" when dressed GQ, but then again, I don't go to dive bars/pubs or rock and roll bars. I go to cool-lounge joints, and when I walk on the beach picking up women I still dress GQ, not in a suit of course, but definitely stylish.

Only time I wear cargo shorts is when I am in the jungle looking for the remaining Crystal skull in ancient mayan temples.

I'm curious how much of you more stylish guys spend on clothes per month, not including suits. Sometimes I restrain the urge to buy more clothes and shoes because it seems like such a chick thing to do.

a good "rule of thumb" is to spend 15-25% of your total monthly net income on new clothes.

so, if you make $10,000/USD/CAD/EUR NET income per month, 15-25% should go towards stylish new gear.

Yes, it may be much for some who have to travel on budgets that require negotiating lower rates on 15USD/night hostel rooms.

Of course, only you know your financial abundance, if 25% is too much, you need to start thinking of making more money, because being cheap or broke is not getting you anything other than an occasional fuck with a drunk backpacker chic in a hostel in Central America.

Hugo Boss has some really nice leather jackets, but I'd imagine they are well out of your price range. Look online, but for personally a leather jacket is something that I'd want to see and try on in person, before I buy.

I don't know which kind of place you go Mixx but I don't spend 25% on my budget on clothes and my friends either and we date mostly beautiful women . I respect your suit opinion and other people here seems to have the same but I just don't get it . Normaly I don't like bounderies and have obligation to fit in a category but you have some minimal you have to respect . You won't go in a wedding in short and sandal just to be different it's really stupid .

25% of budet on clothes is really high if you're maintaining wardrobe. If you're building one, seems resonable.

I have five pairs of designer jeans. Different colors and shades of blue.

A dozen pair of shoes and boots.

Several shirts.

Couple of tailored suits.

I only spend $200-300 a month now maintaining my wardrobe. I'll pick up a pair of boots here and some shirts here.

Some outfits of mine that I put together are 100% close. I'll wear the same outfit out the next weekend and pull. I don't see the same girls, and if a I did and she said, "You wore that last week!" I'd know she was interested. (Why else pay so much attention to my attire?)

It's not about looking different every time you go out out. It's about looking good every time you go out.

I agree, I think 25% of your income on close is waaay to high, unless you are a high roller like Mixx or G-Manifesto. At 25%, where does all the other money go?

Life is fucking expensive these days, it's $3.89 for regular gas where I live, add on that buying fresh organic food, good weed, going out to the bar a couple times a week, and there's not much left at the end of the month.

That said I ain't no broke ass shopping at TJ Maxx (no diss on the Maxx, they got some good deals there), in all reality I probably spend a $1000 a year on clothes, which is probably still too much.

I hit up the black Friday weekend sales at the Pentagon City Mall in Arlington, VA, and got some ridiculously good deals, as much as 70% off. I hit Kenneth Cole, Hugo Boss, Banana Rep, and got a couple pair of Clarks shoes, in the end I spent about a $1000.

If you take good care of your clothes, get them dry cleaned, and keep them on rotation, then there is no need to buy new clothes every month IMHO.

But if I was a kingpin like Mixx I would too! [Image: blush.gif]

I'm loving this thread! Let's keep it going guys!

Now here is a question, and especially for those of us in warmer climates. Is there a cool way to wear shorts anymore? If I'm in Vegas for a summer weekend, I really don't want to be walking around 110 degree weather in designer jeans or a suit. Seriously. Same with being in Miami when it's 90 degrees with 90% humidity. I'm never really sure what type of look to sport when it's really hot out. What do my sartorialists suggest in very hot weather where layers and suits aren't an option?

And here's a few more looks to add below:

Comm on Man , don't act like a child . It's not because I don't have the same opinion as you , that necesary your right and I'm wrong . It's not black and White . It's not because I don't wear suit than I dress in a garbage bag . If that work for you dressing a suit, good for you it's what is important . But My main point was you just don't have to spend all that money on suit like this . What I found interesting in your previous post was not really the suit story but your anologie that If your the only one in a crowd with it you outclass the oposition . It's a interessting theory that could be true in many thing but in that case I don't think so and you haven't demontrate it .

Malvino Salvador.

I like his style, i think he has this kind of "don't give a fuck" vibe that attracts the ladys.

He is not an obvious good looking guy like beckham, but pulls the hottest asses available due to his style and vibe .Although sometimes he abuses of the Brazilian "lazy" dress code..

Well some dudes know there stuff here. Let me share some sites that I think carry good stuff at a decent price, for dress shirts I prefer spread collars because most dudes do not rock them. TM Lewin is a great shirt manufacturer that ships to North America, another is Curtis and Hawes and Eton makes pretty nice shirts as well.

I have a couple of designer suits but the time has come for a custom made suit, cannot beat a mid grey custom suit imho. I cannot afford Saville row but I will try one of these asian tailors that tour the world, Maxwell I believe is the name.

For me shoes are very important, perhaps the most important part of your outfit. I tend to prefer English shoemakers, cannot beat a nice brogue or toecap.

If you purchase the right classic items they can last a lifetime and is money well spent. G Manifesto breaks this down nicely on his site.

Speakeasy - I love your choices there. It's exactly where I want to be over the next year or so as I start to upgrade my wardrobe.

And I have the same question as you. In the NY/NJ area, I can do jeans at night in the summer if I'm not walking a ton - but for anything during the day I'd just be coated in sweat. I've tried to find cargo shorts that aren't ridiculously baggy and don't look like Old Navy and pair them with a polo shirt and loafers. I know it's better than what most people are wearing, but it's clearly not in the class that I can get to at night.

I am totally open to suggestions that anyone else has for climates much warmer than mine.

This is an excellent thread. The point Mixx and others are making is that it pays to dress well. First impressions are crucial. If you have on the right wardrobe, you exude a certain aura that people feel compelled to acknowledge and pay attention to. I've seen the difference myself when I wear stuff that I invested good care into choosing. Women look at you more and stare longer. Men pass by you and nod.

One brand I really get down with for traditional garments is Brooks Brothers. They've been in the game forever and have suited up countless Presidents and heavy hitters. I'm really a big advocate in purchasing timeless attire (garments that will always be classics regardless of what's contemporary). Just about everything I've bought from Brooks Brothers can be considered lifetime purchases, and even clothing I could pass down to the next generation.

I spend a lot of time on K St. in DC where cats take fashion seriously. Countless times I've passed by cats who were so well-dressed I felt obligated to acknowledge them with a head nod.

Fashion is an important element to this game and it can't afford to be overlooked. When you're aiming for the top chicks, you've got to look the part. When you want to close a favorable business deal or anything you're seeking, dress well. If you're going to a job interview or an event that's business casual, still dress sharp so that the top people feel like they've got to step their game up and you emerge as an example.

Keep in mind that everyone in this game, and I mean everyone, has something they can improve on.

No one chooses the ethnicity they are, their looks, their families, their financial and social circumstances, and whatever dot on the planet they are born into. We all have shortcomings or weaknesses that are worth improving on. Even the most successful players aren't sitting pretty all the time. That's life, but without it, we wouldn't be who we are.

That's a good thing about this forum--it keeps me focused. I'm sure some of yall can relate but it's kinda hard out there when you're living this sort of lifestyle. Not complaining at all, I love it, but there's so many people I know and grew up with that don't have the ambition to travel, study game, or even try to get this paper. Then you have folks you don't even know, and some that you do, who attach their expectations--based on their fear and insecurities--onto you. It's mindblowing to me. We all should be about winning and living la vida. I have mad contacts around the world, but it's hard to keep up and chop it up with everyone on the regular, so this forum is like my sanctuary in a sense. I love that there's a community out there that gets it.

To the young G's, use your time wisely and get it poppin. I don't really have any regrets, I mean I do, but I choose to look ahead, but I would love to have made all my mistakes earlier in life. With that said, use your youth to get yourself prepared for manhood. For me, life for a man doesn't even start until 30. That's a primetime decade in which you should be wiser, richer, and simply better. How you spend your years before that era can be consequential. Learn from the vets and generate experiences.

Anyway, I didn't mean to go so off topic, but this thread highlights just how comprehensive this game is. Lets keep these good ideas coming.

Charles Tyrwhitt is a good alternative to Brooks Brothers, or a nice way to augment your wardrobe around the same price point.

Personally, for those of us fashion impaired I would recommend finding a boutique store that assigns you a personal salesman/woman with a good eye. Sure you pay a premium to outsource, but it cuts down on time etc.

Also, check out styleforum.net for some ideas.

Charles Tyrwhitt seems solid. Seems like their store presence in the US is limited to NYC. Otherwise, you gotta order online.

Henc, I can relate a lot to what you said.
For me this also my own santuary,in my everyday life most around me also doesn't share the same views about life and game. Most of them just want to have an average job and marry an average girl.

It's amazing to think that I found guys, from all over the world, who are willing to live the life that I want, and that are facing similar challenges, regardless of race or nationality.

For me this Forum is a "lifechanger" in many ways.

I still have some years ahead before I get to 30. I'll make sure to use'em in the best way to prepare myself for great achievements.
