Any opinions/suggestions about leather jackets for young guys?

The Andrew Marc line is pretty good. I just got one of these on Black Friday and have gotten many comments about it already.

a good "rule of thumb" is to spend 15-25% of your total monthly net income on new clothes.
so, if you make $10,000/USD/CAD/EUR NET income per month, 15-25% should go towards stylish new gear.

The average in America is $1,700 per year for a household of 2.5 persons, or 2.7% of gross income.
As a playa, you may want to spend 2-3x that, but 15-25%?

Wow, and I thought I was being a cheap bastard at 25%! Seriously, I thought I was the cheapest mofo on earth for only spending 15-25% a month on wardrobe.

I feel better now......

If you think I'm expensive, wait until you see Diddy's closet!

You guys are taking that 25% to heart, if you can't afford it, then obviously do not start opening credit card accounts or increasing credit spending limits to get you in a financial hole.

It's what I spend, and some others like Diddy, maybe even Gmanifesto would laugh at my wardrobe budget!

For you, np Mechanico, but I got way too many skeletons in my closet to post a pic in a public forum.

When we meet-up in Tampa before I head to Montreal, I'll snap a pic for you to see it exclusively.

The reason I ask is that I'm re-doing mine right now because these style threads inspired me to tighten ship. When you go to a third world country and notice that the locals out dress you it's an eye opener for sure.

Here's what I'm doing about it. Me and my little one hit the mall at least twice a week after work and I buy something everytime. Last night I bought a sport coat and the girl at Dillards that I've been chatting up told me that their going to blow the whole store out in the next week or two. These boots that I want went from 200 to 125 and should be half that next week or so. All the suits are %50 off now as well. I'm a mall rat from the 80's ya know..Back from the Dig-dug and Sergio Valente days. I still enjoy it. At 42 it's hard to pull chicks from the arcade though so now I've been hunting down the latinas that give out the samples in the food court.

Some looks I like, the first and third are quite easy to have whilst travelling:

Nice. I could see rocking something like that. It's stylish but not flamboyant. Very classy and conservative colors...

I'm not normally crazy about brown blazers, but I think Kanye makes this look great. He's a wellspring of fashion ideas, though sometimes he gets a bit too edgy for my more restrained taste. I'm glad rappers are ditching the kicks and baggy track suits.

You guys are gonna call me a bum but...This is more my style...

Long board shorts that are hard to find, exotic t-shirts or sweatshirts that no one else has, and a rare hat..

Yes, I'm a beach bum.

I want stuff that no one else around here has. I like the stuff from Hawaii, Australia, or Brazil.

This is my style. No pressure, no stress. And, that is also my vibe with women. I don't wanna marry her, I don't wanna take her out to dinner, I don't want to meet her parents, I just want to smoke a bowl with her and bang her, maybe get a few fish tacos and talk about music, comedy, and TMZ.

I leave the fancy clothes and the wining and dining for other guys. I don't want to have to keep up that image. I let her know from the beginning that I'm not the guy who is gonna try to impress her and take her to her office holiday party. I'm the guy to just come and chill with. When the world is stressing her out, she can come see me to relax.

I'm not about more clothes, I'm about less clothes.

Of course, When I need to dress up I can. And I look like Leonardo Dicaprio in "Titanic" when he put a tuxedo on and nobody recognized him. I like doing that because it gives me more "pop" and "flair". If you always see me in shorts and t's and then once in a while, you see me in nice suit, sweater, and slacks, if has a better effect then if I dressed like that all the time.

My look fits my lifestyle and budget and allows me to operate successfully in the "fishbowls" I swim in. In a few years I will probably start dressing more like what we see in this thread.

Well, if you are surfing 24/7 I can't imagine you jumping on a board in tux/suit/GQ stylish wear; not even James Bond can pull that off, and I'm talking Sean Connery!

However, if you go to a night venue with this "surfer" style, where there is NO ocean, or surfing or you are not even on the beach, yeah, you would benefit form a revamp in wardrobe, and some coaching in style. I'm just saying [Image: wink.gif]

I'd be shocked if you told me you went with that look to a night venue.

Perfectly fine when you are walking in the sand, and jumping on boards ready to fight off JAWS at any moment.

When I was a young pup at the beach, I rocked a similar style (with out all the designs/colors and corny "jah rastafari" stuff. Is that Rob Machado or something?).

But yeah I get the picture you are trying to draw.

This is good for the beach, hell, most days I wouldn't even wear a shirt or shoes. And I typically has a jay of the chronic in my hand.

However, this style does not fly when you get older. Or not too well.

Go to any beach town in California and you will see older guys dressed like this trying to get a 30 year old haggard waitress on blow for one last swoop. And talking about the "glory days" of how they "banged all the girls on the beach"

No longevity.

And try to get into Cipriani's in NYC dressed like this.

They will think you are the new bus boy reporting for work that forgot his uniform. No respect.

Not versatile at all.

Trust me on this. I am not "speculating" on some theory or something. I am dropping wisdom because I lived it.

I like being the Versatile, Honey Stickin Wild, Golden Child.

I've found myself going custom more and more, especially for shirts. You can find take a shirt that fits you perfectly, and have it's sizing copied pretty easily online, and delivered to your door, for about the price of a shirt at a place like Nordstrom, sometimes cheaper.

I don't really go out at night so that explains alot about my wardrobe.

Believe me, when I'm ready for some "style coaching", you guys will get the call!

G - I'm slowly evolving towards a big boy wardrobe.

Ok, you guys get back to talking about real clothes. I just wanted to share my style because I know its different then what you guys are doing.

These outfits that you guys are posting do look very sharp.

Interesting. I like that. I like how self-awareness, diet, exercise, and fashion are inter-connected and form a big part of a mans game.

The other thing you guys should also consider is FASHION, which is separate and apart from style. Style is how you dress, it's your take on clothing.

Fashion is what the cool popular people are wearing.

IMO, a man should be stylish and a woman should be fashionable, but often times to catch a fashionable woman, you gotta cater to the mass and wear something hip, something designer, something expensive. So at least once a season you gotta spend too much money on something that's not going to last. Just keep that in mind.

And the biggest thing, your diet and work outs are crucial. Good clothes make bad bodies passible, but they make great bodies killer.

Great fashion related Game post right there.

I have a question. What do you keep in the closet to keep your clothes smelling fresh all the time? Mine has my laundry room built into it.

Moth balls (packets) and cedar blocks.

You can buy both on Amazon.

I've been meaning to do this with a few nice shirts of mine. Have them fitted. But I am wondering if I should do that after a few months when I've bulked up a bit and trimmed some of that "love handle" waist "material".

G, Mixx -
Do you guys keep some room for the "growth" or "dropping" of poundage / muscle size?
e.g. I have these killer designer shirts that have gotten a little loose on me until I am able to bulk up again.

Any thoughts on what length should one keep a shirt? You guys?
- In case you're not tucking it in for a resort / summer look..
- In case you DO TUCK it in as well

The packets aren't too bad. Toss them on the floor. That is what I do anyways, however, I am not some "moth ball" expert or anything. (disclaimer)

Cheap too.

Good question.

Since I started boxing heavily again ('09) my body has changed significantly.

I am actually in the process of ditching like 10 suits (at least) and tons of other clothes.

Kind of sad since I dropped a grip.

Got my moneys worth though.

It's the cost of doing business.

Charge it to the Game.

I'm going to be very honest with you, and I am probably going to stir up a lot more tension and catch more heat on this forum after my 25% per month budget announcement, but here goes:

I give my clothes a lifespan of about 2 years (maybe 3 on some items at most), after that, I go to shelters halfway homes of guys just getting out of prison or find homeless men and I donate clothes. I don't ask for a receipt, I don't ask to be mentioned in any appreciation programs, I donate anonymously because it is the best feeling in the world to give my fly threads to those less fortunate than me after I've enjoyed them or they no longer fit me.

It just as big a high as chasing women.

A lot of my own male family members stopped talking to me because I give more to less fortunate than I give to them....it is what it is.

So true. You can spot it a mile away. A guy has on expensive clothes but he is not even comfortable in his own skin. His eyes are all over the place, his conversation is mumbly and nervous, his seeks approval from others. Clothes won't cover up this stuff. We always have to focus on the big picture of our complete Game. Improve clothes and confidence together. They do sort of work together.

I get what Gio is saying about his style, I think the point he's trying to make is that it works for him, he's comfortable with it, and it correlates to the "fishbowls" that he puts himself in.

I dig where Mixx is going with this thread, and I like all the examples of men's fashions that most posters have thrown up, ath the age of 27 I'm starting to feel older, more mature, etc., so I've stepped up to more of a GQ look.

However, the GQ look doesn't work for every guy in every setting, there are punk rock guys who play in bands, have tattoos, wear spiked belts, skinny jeans, etc. and that look works for them and get's them the girls they are into. Now I am by no means saying that I like that look, style, subculture, nor would Mixx, or most guys on these forums, but the point is we are all different.

I've seen the hippy surfer looking guy pull hot ass girls that guys' here would rate in the 8+ category, in fact he's an acquaintance of mine who grows herb out in the hills half the year, then spends the other half surfing in Maui or Bali. He always has a hot girlfriend, or is smashing a new nice piece of ass. The guy probably doesn't own a suit, let alone a nice button down dress shirt!

So at the end of the day, who gives a fuck what you wear, as long as you are pulling hot girls, that's what this thread is all about. Now not to knock Mixx or the original purpose of this thread, I'm on board with it 100%, and I got to give a huge portion of crediting my new GQ look/style to the guys that have inspired me on these forums.

We are all unique individuals, so one cookie cutter style won't always work for everyone, you got to find your own look, niche, and do what feels right for you.
