I've never gamed in the deep south but I imagine it's similar. Maryland is actually in the "south" technically. I'm from the east coast and the problem MD has is the same problem PA has. Because of years and years of bad blood between the blacks and whites and them passing it on to their children, people just generally stick to their own group or culture with the occasional outcast mixing. The ones that I've dated have all been either black men chasing white girls or good girls gone bad who don't speak to their family. Or transplants. And they all admit that MD has racial issues. I live in PG County, probably the worst of the worst, and admit that I probably need to see more of MD before passing judgement. But life is too short to stick it out here hoping to get a hottie. I'm going back to Europe. I'll come back this way and try again if everything better dries up.

Columbia MD is about 20 minutes south of Baltimore. It is a combination of developed middle to upper-middle class neighborhoods and a ton of businesses (because it is midway between DC and Baltimore). I did not move to this area until 1992 and from what I was told, Columbia already had a IR reputation. Of course most of the IR couple mix is black men/white female but you will also see more black female/white male than probably most areas in the USA except for probably Minneapolis. Of course, Columbia's "rep" is known all through the DC/MD/VA area and PLENTY of black women will mention that (while clenching their teeth, lol).

Now my only problem (and it is MY own personal problem) with Columbia is that as a black male, I have this belief that "if a brotha is going to date white THEN get the finest around" and many brothas don't do that. They settle for the most basic-looking, 20-pounds overweight, couldn't run 2 flights of stairs if she tried white females...but that is another thread.

I don't know man it's all in your effort I guess. This is America after all and there are LOTs of places to go every weekend. You can hit chicks up over and over and just hope for the best. But so far I haven't seen a strong pull towards IR dating anywhere around here. But I haven't been to Columbia. Maybe it's different. IDK man this is slumming it IMO. You can go to an area not known for IR dating and hope for the best, or you can at least have the odds on your side and go to a place with a reputation for open-mindedness. As a long time resident of Maryland, I share americanInEurope's hatred of the state. It represent all of the bad elements of the Northeast (high COL, overtaxed nanny state, traffic, people being assholes for the hell of it) and the Deep South (mainly the racial segregation, and blacks who act so ghetto, they make you damn near ashamed of your own skin color).

And to add the conversation about Maryland, it's a mix of Deep South, Midwest, and Northeast Style NJ/LI/Eastern PA/Boston (covert) racism, but it depends where. You see the typical deep south crap in rural places like the panhandle and the Eastern Shore. As for B-More and its suburbs (minus Columbia - which is truly a diamond in a shitstack), that resembles the Rust Belt racial tension of places like Cleveland and Detroit. Now granted, you'll see some poor blacks and whites hook up, but I'm assuming most of us aren't going after some white girl who's drugged up and a meth-head. And good ol' Washington DC takes the pages of racial issues from Philly, NYC, and Boston where it's not whites vs blacks, it's everyone (whites, Asians, middle easterners, Asian Indians, and Latinos to a lesser extent) vs blacks! They may not call you a nigger, but they'll show it in every other way! And to be fair, blacks contribute to the racial strife shit as well, a la Prince Georges County. And if you're a non stereotypical black dude like myself, PG County (and for that matter, DC) is as horrible as Atlanta. Only place in the DC area you have a chance to get down interracially are in select cities in Montgomery County like Silver Spring, (North) Bethesda, Rockville, and Germantown. And except for Silver Spring and maybe N. Bethesda & Rockville, you're ending up in single-less suburbia.

Moral of the story is Maryland's not the state for IR hookups for dating, at least not if you want to have it out in the open! I'd bet my annual salary that Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas are better states overall for brothas who wanna a lil white thing with a twang.

Speaking of which. Houston is on my personal radar as a place to move to. I've heard it was one of the most racially integrated cities and very good on the IR scene.
