...you should move away from discussing pop culture completely. Game of Thrones annoys me specifically for some reason. I've never met any guy in real life who likes that show that I would have a productive conversation or could be friends with. They seem to think they're smart because they watch it. A different kind of Rick and Morty type IMO

I've always viewed pop culture stuff as a way to distract men from finding out more about their cultural history and discussing it. Two things that threaten the power structure of the elite.

Different pop culture things will capture different types of men:

Sportsball distracts the more rowdy/foot-soldier type from directing their rage at the system. Instead they yell at the TV on Sunday.

Rick & Morty, and other "deeper" shows, distract the nerdy/higher IQ type from reading more about their history. Instead they discuss the hidden meaning or whatever in this fictional universe. Game of Thrones is especially good at this since it replaces our history with this weird PC friendly fictional history.

Pop music distracts musicians. Most modern musicians don't know about music from before The Beatles...

And this list goes on.

Your advice about avoiding pop culture is solid advice. We have thousands of years of real and meaningful culture. We have no need for fictional culture designed to brainwash us with inverted morals.

This is pretty spot on. I never actually thought of it like this, but now it makes total sense why i always thought pop culture was so shallow and i never really bothered to familiarize myself with it at all.

"And guess what, you might have a feeling that youre destined for something else, and that any day now it will dawn on you, but it will remain that, just a feeling that you use as a crutch to never focus on anything", Beirut.

I remember reading some document from the mid 1800's were they say the elite devised and encouraged the production of science fiction and/or pulp novels for men, basically have them hamster wheeling, so the wheels of men never hit the road or in this case where lifted off the tarmac.

There was a great post over on The God Pill thread about transhumanism and how Satan is simply the part of our brains that rejects silence i.e (God forbid left you be alone with your own thoughts), that silence was the very essence of human nature and gifts, only when we are silent with ourselves are we able to realise how we need to use our gifts the best.

It was such a monumental yet simple thought, and it just felt....right. I didn't need to intellectualize it, always sensed something amiss with so many dysfunctional people.

Its tough being human and they want to give us an out, so we can get away from the thing people can't stand most....themselves...in all its painful messy glory. People fucking hate themselves and funny enough for all their talk of individualism in 2019...its the last thing they want to be: an individual.

Bread and circuses, gents.

Now "fandom" which I find itself a nebulous concept, goes beyond sports, into lifestyle fandom where fans of sci-fi series permanently cosplay, or so emotionally and socially stunt themselves that the only meaning that resonates with them is a sci-fi series bought by Disney--and arguably cucked in the process.

An acceptable time for him to cry is when his freaking child is born, not when a trailer for a second-rate franchise movie comes out. Likely a low-T beta male.

I think this kind of thing is basically escapism. Escapism, to a limited degree, may be a healthy way to temporarily lift one's hopes and spirits artificially. Some examples might be occasionally playing the lottery, a rare outing to a strip club, or an semi-annual in depth discussion on a sci fi movie.

Heck, we do a fair bit conjecture and postulating about things on RVF that could be called escapism.

But as the the current culture shows, escapism has drifted towards delusion and obsession, and the lines of fantasy have gotten too blurred for many.

Today too many over-indulge in their fantasy. I suppose it's no coincidence that obesity rates have sky-rocketed - it's just another form of overindulgence.

BTW, "AOC's Missing Boyfriend" is the funniest screen name I've seen in years. bravo.
