Beach Towns in Brazil or Mexico - Dez/Jan
10-14-2018, 08:41 AM
I'm planning a trip to Latin America for the end of the year to hit up smaller beach towns. I'm especially interesting in places where the regular brazilians/mexicans go to spend their party holidays. Middle class chicks are my main target demographic. I speak fluent Spanish and good Portuguese. Plus, I'm tall, blue eyes and athletic = Latinas generally love me.
I know Mexico pretty well but never have been there during New Years. I'm looking at places like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Playa del Carmen.
In Brazil, I only have been in Floripa and want to see something new. Therefore I'm looking at places in Bahia like Morro de Sao Paulo, Itacare, Pipa, Porto Seguro, Canoa Quebrada.
Any recommendations?

A lot of the beach resorts in Brazil are very costly during the NYE period. Trancoso, Pipa, Jericoacoara, Carneiros, São Miguel do Gostoso, Noronha, all attract mostly rich people from the Southeastern states.
Morro de São Paulo is definitely more middle class, but it has a strong fame of attracting hipsters. Same for Canoa Quebrada. Caraiva is also very hipsterish, while Itacaré is a surfer town. For middle class, I would throw in the mix Búzios in Rio state, and Maresias in SP state.

I´ll recommend in Mexico Sayulita ( Surfspot getting hip between mexicans), close to Puerto Vallarta superchill. Otherwise, In Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido. A beach town, famous surf spot and quite cheap

I second Puerto Escondido, that place is 80%> Mexican/Latin surprisingly, the quality is decent but you have to be able to like more indigenous Mexicanas, you won't find many "white" ones there. I have never had so much enjoyment in a beach town, with your tallness, blue eyes, Spanish and game you will slay there like nearly no where else on earth. Check out my data sheet.

Found Brazilian beaches to be very underwhelming in general but the ones in the North were noticeably better than the ones in the South. Liked Mexican beaches a lot more, just nicer water.
Will add that Noronha is very coupled up, very few girls available and that place is absurdly expensive, great couples place though.

Thanks for the input so far. I'm leaning towards Mexico since I really like the country. I would have bought the tickets already but it's just that the Brasileiras are hotter on average, way hotter.

Playa del Carmen attracts a lot of younger crowds from CDMX. Nice beaches and good swimming.
Mazatlan is super fun, and its a bigger city. Beaches are OK, some incredible surf out of town too. It has some of the hottest women in Mexico too.
Acapulco is a bit of a faded glam town from the 80s and 90s. There is still some fun to be had, but you can really feel its charm has faded.
PV is cool, it attracts more of the Guadalajara crowd. Sayulita to the north is nice and chill gringo town.
Michoacan is nothing but wild coast all the way. If you have camping gear, there are endless options. Some little shacks on the beach in some places can get busy over the holidays. A bit more Mexican hippy/surfer.
Baja is awesome, again especially if you camping gear.

La Paz, Baja California is solid. I did some epic diving and fishing there and there's world class surf not a long drive away.

Good thread.
I'm going to Brazil in that period and also wondering where would be the best place to spend last week of Dec & first week of Jan.
Does anyone have a recent info on Guarapari?
Old intel from the forum says it's good during Brazilian summer attracting a lot of girls from the whole Espirito Santo and Victoria on weekends but how about a week before/after New Year's Eve?

^^ Lots of people i.e. girls from Minas Gerais state travel to Guarapari for NYE, I suppose there will be a decent party scene with many mineiras there.

Thanks for info!
Anyone familiar with Ilha Grande?
The spot seems to have amazing scenery and is close to Rio but I was wondering about the vibe during NYE. Is it more like wild beach party place or couples and western backpackers chilling?

I had to postpone my trip because of some shit. I eventually will go to Mexico. Plan is to travel from Guadalajara to PV and then north to Mazatlan. Afterwards I'd like to see a bit more of Sinaloa and some mountains. Not much info on that region on the forum. Have any of you guys been in that area?
