I've been ZC since November of 2017. If you are curious about my diet, ask me.

Why don't you spare us the suspense and tell us about your experience?

Dr Shawn Baker is a huge advocate of the Carnivore diet. He has a channel on youtube.

Im 2 weeks into the carnivore diet and im experiencing an increase in libido and apparent strength. I also feel like im recovering fastor from lifting, bjj and swimming.

The following link is a youtube video of Shawn Baker discussing how Androgen Receptors become more sensitive to Testosterone on low carb carnivorous diets. Essentially the Testosterone your body produces becomes more effective and bioavailable. It takes less to do more.

Quite interesting....

In response to Horus, what in particular do you want to know? As far as I am concerned, everything has changed for me as either a direct or indirect result of this way of living. Some general things that I've noticed happens to all people, at the top of my head and in no particular order:
- Clean, easy, regular and less-occurent pooping
- Quicker and cleaner healing from scraping as well as infections
- Thicker, stronger, and quicker-growing hair and nails
- Smoother, not too oily, not too dry skin
- Disappearance of tooth decay
- Disappearance of hunger*
- No more intrusive thoughts about food*
- Lean body and face with no effort
- Harder, bigger, more frequent boners (men)
- More horniness, significantly improved chances of getting pregnant (women)
- More stable mood
- Foodgasms every meal
- More sweat
- More physical and mental energy
- Less apathy towards life

*Unless you're starving yourself

There must be more, but I just can't remember at the moment. If you ask me about something specific that interests you, then I'll be able to answer in detail.

Jordan Peterson and the carnivore diet

I tried the carnivore diet for 2 weeks and had amazing results. I have since fallen back into a more normal diet due to circumstance but will be getting back on the train again soon.

It was a like a miracle cure for my constipation and afternoon fatigue. And when I went back to the standard diet some of the benefits from the carnivore diet remained. So now I can eat a normal diet without too much health risk, whereas before I could barely function at work due to fatigue and brain fog after eating. It seems to help rebuild your gut health or at least let it recover.

I went from barely being able to shit at all to zero constipation and only having the urge to go once every other day. Every single trip to the bathroom was smooth and barely required any wiping. For the first time in awhile I felt satisfied after. Now that I'm back on a diet high in fiber the same problems with constipation are back.

You do have to eat a lot of beef on the diet obviously and it needs to be fat-heavy. The cuts I usually get are ribeye, sirloin, strip steak, or ground beef (70% fat). They are expensive but worth it because you save money on this diet anyway. You're not buying a bunch of sauces or things like peanut butter which add up quickly. I cook almost everything in organic unsalted butter and salt my meats for electrolyte balance. I also eat eggs, some cheese, fish, chicken thighs, pork, bacon, etc.

I highly suggest you guys check out the website meat.health for more information (not affiliated in any way, but I'm on his email list)

To Iconoclast007,

In my first post I referred to the diet as ZC, which stands for Zero Carb. That's what the community I come from calls this diet, since that's what's required to turn it into a lifestyle choice and not some temporary detox therapy. This conveniently has lead me to answer your second question.

I'd like to use a term Owsley Stanley (the guy you call The Bear) passed around a lot when replying to similar queries. It's called acculturation. Since birth, you have been programmed by the people surrounding you to do and believe in certain things. In reality, if in your heart of hearts, you have no qualms eating only meat for the rest of your life and you're not a pushover, you will never run into any serious problems you can't solve by yourself and there is no advice I can give you. However, if you think that you should taste the rainbow, carb-cycle, fast, count calories, or enrich your gut microbiome, - I have one thing to tell you: you are ignorant. If that ticked you off and you want to call me out, it means you're not suffering enough. Suffering is what gave me the courage to challenge my acculturation. I hope it will be the same to you.

As for, what kind of foods I am eating: meat. I buy what's the cheapest, be it minced meat or something that's discounted. I used to eat only pork for a good eight months or so, then tried out beef and never went back. Recently I have started salting my steaks for taste, sometimes I even rub in some black pepper. I'm ignorant of spices so I'm experimenting whenever curiosity strikes.

Its true. In my very short experience on Carnivore my long chronic suffering has subsided. I have also experienced alot of peer pressure to eat a "balanced diet". I am realizing that It is something I will just have to ignore. I think the cultural indoctrination of "eat your veggies" is the most difficult part. It is also my intuition that similar to alot of things these days the opposite may be true.... Vegetables are bad for us and completely unecessarry. .

I am a hunter. I prefer bowhunting as it has a higher primal connection. This diet and lifestyle is congruent with my philosophy. It suits me, it heals me.

The following is a poem that sums alot of the enlightenment I have found through hunting and recently the carnivore diet:

Sometimes, beneath the shimmering surface of my memory,

I sense the deeper memories of generation after generation of hunters.

For tens of thousands of years I have kept a faithful record of my hunting,

so the children of my children’s children will know and remember.

And more permanent than any painted stone..

is the memory that lies at the heart of my every cell,

the memory of my hunting, the history of my tribe.

And when I wake beneath the modern sky,

full of smoke and sound,

as from a dream I believe I lost my way back.

For I cannot forget I am a hunter

and I am from a race of hunters

and there is no place for hunters in this
time.

I rarely eat eggs, eating cheese regularly makes me crave carbs, so I avoid it, and milk - I don't even remember how it tastes like.

How fussy does this have to be in terms of zero carb? Let's say I do a roast in the slow cooker. Is an onion, some mushrooms, and 1/4 cup of flour to thicken a gravy going to fuck it up?

You need to adapt your system to fat. No cheating. Zero carbs. Its not easy. Nothing worth doing is. Eat like a lion would. The goal is fat adapted. I dont crave donuts and pancakes.... I crave fat, blood, liver and brain. Its a truly incredible feeling. I look in the mirror now and see a 100% predator.

In my experience, the carb cravings tend to subside after the second week or so. By the third week the thought of eating something like a donut will disgust you. If you crack and have a taste of the donut, the sweetness will overwhelm your taste buds and you will just spit it out.

I've tried a few forms of diets now (including this one for 2 weeks) and to be honest the best I ever feel is a calorie restricted (don't eat till you're full) balanced (eat anything but don't binge on pizza and chocolate) diet that is slightly heavier on the protein side combined with good sleep and an appropriate amount of exercise.

I appreciate some people have legitimate dietary intolerance so trying it isn't going to hurt.

A heavily restrictive diet like this makes it difficult to live life and can make people anxious and neurotic as a result. I'm pretty sure this ended my Grandmothers life prematurely as she convinced herself she was allergic to everything and at the end she was almost only eating gluten free bread and water.

Did KETO for around 3 months, then for last month went pretty much all out carni. Two steaks daily, had some spinach and eggs with them, that's it. Cooked in butter and salt / pepper only. It's such an efficient diet. No crashing, can easily go for mini fasts of up to 20 hours without even really getting hungry. I train most days, and have steady energy. Best shape been in for years. Can't recommend it enough.

Going home to family tmw for two weeks, and will no doubt fall back into the normal 'healthy' diet that they more or less do. Not so bad really, but there's no comparison for efficiency. As soon as back in my own space, i'll be back to carni / KETO.

Yes, that fucks it up. Just the flour though. Pure carbs there. Try Xantham Gum, it's a good thickener, slightly different texture but still very good.

Depends on a couple of things. If you've been zero-carb for weeks, eating an entire onion will certainly kick you out of ketosis (and possibly upset your stomach if you've already eliminated the gut flora living off fiber/plant matter), but assuming you exercise a decent amount you'll burn off the sugar and go right back into ketosis within a day or so.

Concerning the gravy: replace the flour with hydrolyzed collagen. Thickens it up just as well, but is super good for you rather than empty carbs + gluten.
