A lot of misinformation about pick-up in this thread. Go watch either season of The Pick-Up Artist and you'll quickly realize that aside from Mystery wearing some outrageous outfits, absolutely no one was advocating that guys actually dress like that. In fact, the make over episodes of the show were very effective at turning lame looking guys into men with a decent level of style.

I've associated with PUA style club clowns and guys who run styles of game that this forum approves of and there isn't much difference, except that the PUA types consistently approach.

The guys who I've seen get the best pussy have always been heavily Mystery influenced players.

I wonder who will play Strauss? Probably Jesse Eisenberg or Michael Cera.

I for one am looking forward to seeing it. You don't have to wear a pink boa to grasp the underlying meaning of cat/string theory, push/pull, or anything else these guys explained in clearer terms than anyone else had been able to up to the time. They deserve all the money they get from it.

If it wasn't for reading The Game 3 1/2 years ago I never would've found this forum, never would've gone to Colombia, never would've pulled a threesome, never would've made a lot of good friends, never would've lived up to my potential. I think it was simply reading about Neil and his transformation in the book that I saw it was possible.

There are pictures floating about of Mystery hanging with Strauss and some of the guys named in The Game circa 2005. Mystery is wearing his typical goth magician clothes. Which works for him as he is a goth magician. The other guys, including Strauss, look absolutely retarded.

Strauss and some of the other affiliated guys did advocate "peacocking." Which may have been misunderstood and exaggerated, but not by much. Mystery and other PUAs may have done things differently, and I have no doubts that they did well, but Strauss himself advocated some really weird things. On his Annihilation video series I remember him telling guys to wear around town an empty shoulder holster. That's not peacocking, that's retarded.

After the movie is released and if it's successful, there will likely be a boom of curious men perusing this forum and other game forums around the 'net, including RoK. Might be a good opportunity to hand out some red pills.

I have a hunch that this movie will attempt to show PUA in a very poor light, especially anyone associated with PUA.

^Yes, I'm sure it'll get all moralistic like "in the end they all learned their lesson and don't going around being evil and picking up women anymore. Just be yourself guys...and do everything women and feminists tell you to do!!!

The end."

I guess the big question here is: Is this movie 7 years too late? One gets the feeling that the time to make a movie about Neil Strauss and PUA culture was years ago. It might be passe by now.

We'll have to see what happens.

Absolutely it's too late in my opinion.

Noone knows who that guy is anymore, the reality tv show is over, PUA is being vilified by the left now.

This will be nothing more than a "Pro Rape Culture" movie an "wow just wow" boycott this movie.

I feel like the red pill is slowly becoming mainstream. With Trump getting so much support and movies like this in the process of being made, it's inevitable. This is either going to be really good ( patriarchy will rule again) or really bad (Marxism will takeover).

This movie is going to be a huge flop and probably blue-pill washed. I am pretty sure the movie is going to end with the guys learning their lesson that "game" sucks and guys should just be themselves to meet new women. Also, look for the movie to over-emphasize and make fun of the weirdness which was a part of the PUA culture (peacocking and whatnot).

Even if the movie is somehow not a disaster SJWs and the media will do everything they can to destroy it.

I find the Strauss and Mystery bashing on this forum off-base. Some guys have a natural knack for interacting with women, the rest of us are left in the dark. For the guys who never got laid in high school, it felt like we would just go through life being sexless. When The Game came out it was influential because we realized picking up women had a process that could be learned from a book, like maths or science. Guys laugh at terms like peacocking and negging and DHVing, but if you assess your own interactions I'm certain you also do these things, or things to similar effect, whenever you talk to women. Maybe you naturally pick up the social cues for when and how to do it, but for a zero notch newbie, he needs a starting point. Now that I'm further along I never think in my head 'I need to DHV now, I need neg her, I need to initiate kino', but when I first started approaching women having all that broken down into steps was essential.

You can make fun of the furry hat all you want, but a guy will learn a lot more going to a bar dressed like Mystery than he would going in jeans and a tee and sitting in the corner, which is precisely what I used to do. Hell, I walked past a guy wearing a crazy jacket at the bar last night and commented on it just out of instinct. We ended up talking for ten minutes and he was actually a cool guy. Peacocking still works.

If any new guys are reading this, my advice would be to not let The Game bashing discourage you. It's the best place I can think of for a newbie to start.

I agree. There have been a few anti-PUA threads on the forum in the past. Let me be clear, there is some weirdness around the PUA culture as it attracts weirdos but overall game concepts and theory are pretty helpful for us non-naturals who have learned game.

When I was in high school I would ask my natural friends for tips and not one of them could explain to me what it is that they were doing except for the very basic "you can't be nice to girls". Okay, what exactly does that mean? Reading The Game and Mystery Method helped me learn a lot of those concepts and then I backwards engineered what a lot of of my natural friends were doing. Plus searching for more game tips is how I found this forum way back when.

I think the timing makes sense. Hollywood is in a death spiral coming out with shitty remakes and comic book movies, which isn't really their content but they know it will make a buck. Hollywood sees that remakes are doing poorly cause people have likely seen the original. Anything of new content to them, especially with the backing of an actor looks like gold for them.

But Hollywood being they way they are will definitely put a terrible blue pill-esque spin on it. They are way too P.C. to allow they straight up reasons for it.

Nonetheless I'd still actually see it for it being original, something that got me started on this path in life and to see how it gets butchered through the Hollywood lens.

Let me guess the ending of this chick flick. At the end, he noticed the girl he was treating badly is the one he always wanted. And they live forever after. Okay. Everyone owe me money for saving them money. Movies suck more and each passing year.

I have a hunch they'll get Jonah Hill to play Strauss. Him and Franco are practically brothers, and he could play a short hopeless nerd. I know he looks nothing like Strauss, but Franco looks equally unlike Mystery. I also wonder how much Strauss will have to do with the film. He's known to be a certain level of obsessive about his creative work.

For me, The Game was THE red pill.

Back in 2009, I finished my copy in a weekend and saw the world of human interaction as it really was.

The only way this could turn out good is if its an indie movie -- staying true to the real story/book.

Honestly the book's own plot kind of writes itself for a blue pill movie. Mystery is the charismatic master with women but turns out to have severe untreated bipolar disorder. The author ends up settling down with a nice lady and is finally happy once he treats her like a hu-mon instead of doing any game stuff. Then all the other game guys are portrayed extremely negatively by the author. Tyler Durden is a sociopathic manipulator, the asian guy was a sperg just trying to run the game stuff as a business seminar scam, and the other guys were made out to be pathetic dorks that just turned into pathetic dorks with funny clothes. I think one of the guys in the book had an anxiety disorder where he couldn't pee in urinals or something.

The author clearly had contempt for all these people, and in the book it's either outright contempt or covered by a veneer of pretending to feel sorry for them. In reality I think the author was an extrovert in the first place, he had a job interviewing celebrities or something that would only be done by a person with an extrovert personality. Thus, you have a narrative coming from an extrovert, which is going to be "well jeez, why don't you spazzes just act normal?" To borrow vox day's terminology, The Game is Gamma male writing wherein the author is just so superior to everyone else in the book. He can't help but paint the other characters' problems as insurmountable character flaws while he still gets the perfect woman at the end because he's the secret king.

We definitely aren't going to see a movie that accepts a premise that men can alter their behavior and become inherently more attractive. In the best case it will be that men can fake behavior to be more attractive but they're really still scared little nerds inside and in truth unattractive. Worst case they paint everyone except the author as being manipulative sex perverts that seduce women just to abuse them because of misogyny.

Read The Game in one evening many years ago and it turned me on to all this stuff.

It could be a great movie, if they let me write & direct it, and they told the entire story from Durden's point of view rather than Strauss.

You guys are all forgetting the blue pill ending of the game where Style commits to some whore.

Wedding Crashers went by just fine, this will too because they'll build the story arc around Style "realizing" how terrible and empty banging hot girls are and how fullfilling committing to a tatted up, "strong" female is.
