I'm not going to lie. Lot of dislike being posted against other designer sunglasses brands. To each their own but I think persol makes rather boring and bland glasses from a style standpoint. The frames may be of some superior quality, I don't know though. I personally like the following sunglasses.

These Zegnas which I own
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_pfzuP4OKhXQ/Sf...turar3.JPG

These Emporio Armani shades
http://www.selectspecs.com/blog/wp-conte...9592s1.jpg

These Louis Vuitton shades
https://www.luxuryexchange.com/shop/imag...060384.JPG

But again to each their own. I wouldn't criticize other designer brands and say how they are walmart quality sunglasses and persol or ___ brand is better than all. Because it all comes down to personal preference and the reality is most of us don't really care how good of quality the frames are but how they make us look.

everyone gets pissy when I say their sunglasses are walmart quality, just because you've dropped 400+ on them doesn't make them good glasses, they're just expensive glasses. Most design house frames, the lvs, dolces etc don't have an eye glass division they farm out to luxxotica or similar and say get us cheap shit slap our name on it and our name will carry the product, it's about branding and marketing, they don't need the better product their name will get the sale. So yes in terms of quality, craftsmanship, raw material, innovation and research invested in these products, they are on par with a walmart product. Whether you'll find the exact style type at a walmart, probably not, some cosmetic tweaks are made for them but you can usually find a mall kiosk that'll sell a replica that is every bit the frame the original is at 1/20th the cost, just not a real label. I'm not sayin you have to get a pair of persols they're classic and timeless, if your style and it appears to be is more trendy modern then they're not a good fit but I'm not talking style choice i'm just talking quality. With a pair of persols, you are getting a company that is focused on the eyeglass market, they offer top quality crystal lenses, they test their frames under strict conditions, they are handcrafted and even while luxxotica owns them now they haven't change the procedure by which the label does biz so I know when I drop good money on them im gettin a product that warrants it. In the end it is a personal choice, we all want style for some style trumps quality, and for others style without quality is pointless. Take boots for example, I just dropped 600 bucks on a pair of boots, a little on the pricy side but these things will last me forever if I wore them everyday which i wouldn't...so I could well have there things into my 80s if I took care of them, but I've seen plenty of shit ass boots that will go for 400 bucks+ that if you babied them may give you 3 seasons tops, they may look good for a bit but mine look good and they'll last. I wouldn't go the other way and have ugly shit that lasts forever, it's finding the middle ground, I want it to look good but I want to know that while it looks good, it's top quality, that combo to me warrants a heftier price tag.

Nothing makes me feel more badass than a sweet pair of Aviators.

I agree with you on that Mike. In full disclosure, to prove your point the gold plating on my zegnas has faded after a year of use. They still look good but there is fading as well on the sides where the brand name is inscribed as well.

I like mine, they're purple/blue and reflective, it doesn't show well. I like the brow bridge thing, it definitely stands out. I believe they come it like 20 color combinations:

Does anyone know where I can get some cheap knock offs similar to these? I THINK black looks good on my skin tone (light brown) and I like how it goes with pretty much everything.

I went to a sunglasses store the other day and tried some on. I really like these Ray Ban RB3025's but refused to buy them because of the rude bitch working there.

I just picked up another set of these:

I'm such a beautiful male, it's a shame to put anything on my face.

No seriously. It is hard to find lenses that fit my ugly mug. These are the best. I had to replace the ones I lost after returning from the DR. The reason I'm posting this is:

I see WAY to many people rocking aviators that don't look right. The Ray-Ban Tech series are a cut down version, so to speak. And as vicious said, classic aviators can be intimidating, which is not the vibe you want to put off when on the prowl.

Now onto fashion. I believe sunglasses should be neutral. Meaning, they shouldn't overplay or detract from your clothes. Shirts, suits, or footwear needs to get the compliments. It's just too difficult to find that perfect fit, and something that looks just that cool. Lay back on your purchase, and let the rest of your wardrobe to the talking.

I left a pair of Guccis in a cab last year. Luckily I bought them off my friend for only $100. They were almost brand new. I liked them so much, and was making enough money at the time, I went and bought another pair, pretty similar, but looked better than the ones I lost for $260. The lenses are so clear and glasses so light, you can hardly tell you're even wearing them. The lenses aren't the darkest, but work just fine. The ones I'm currently rocking:

I have trouble finding glasses that fit my frame well, but these are perfect. It's hard for me to even find another pair of glasses because I am yet to find a pair that looks as good as these ones do on me. I dig the Gucci signature one the upper right frame too. These look mad smooth in a suite too and they aren't too much. I've had people tell me I look like a member of drug cartel while wearing the suite. Haha, I'll take it as a compliment.

The black ones are pretty smooth. They are pretty similar to Oakley frog skins, which don't look good on me. They look good on most people though. I personally like them, just not on me.

Been rocking the Ray Ban "new" wayfarers which have considerably smaller lenses than the original. Never ever been mistaken for a hipster

also wear the Ray Ban "Caravan's" which look fairly similar to the original aviators but have more of a squared off look. I like these because they are subtlety different than the aviators and have received a lot of compliments.

If I want to go with a classic look, the American Optical Aviators are the way to go. These were the actual first aviators that the navy and air force issued to pilots and also a favorite of Don Draper.

All 3 are great if you want a classic look and dont want to be mistaken for a douche bag.

I always wear black old style Wayfarers because they go well with my hair and long, slim nose

I already wear glasses regularly. Though I like the look of sunglasses.

How do people manage to do contact lenses and shades? Seems like the eyes would just be dry as fuck.

Vuarnet is rather a mid-range brand. Lenses are maybe good, but frames are of average quality . Furthermore it's a widespread product with absolutely no "exclusivity", as Rayban for that matter. Go to a french mediterranean or atlantic resort in summer and you'll bump every ten meters on someone wearing Vuarnets - and it's usually not very "progressive" persons.

If you want to have high quality, exclusive and trendy glasses, choose Dita or Barton Peirreira (Barton being IMO a bit below in term of quality). Dita is fast becoming one of the top luxury eyewear brands in the world.

I recently bought a pair of Dita Matador. All titanium - including the nose pads, diamond pattern on bridge, handmade manufactured in Japan, ect. Gorgeous. Not cheap nonetheless, some 650 € (plus for me, who is myopic, tinted optical lenses).

As a side note, the optical Dita glasses are also gorgeous and of incomparable quality. I wear the "Stateman" and the "Grandmaster One" models. And believe me, girls (at least russian girls, my only target) can recognize high quality glasses. Winner.

BTW, 40% of the population being myopic, it's surprising that there is not an "Optical Glasses" thread here [Image: smile.gif]

I have a pair of these, except mine are black. Cost me like 50 bucks.

I also really like these Steve McQueen Persol sunglasses. 360 is a lot to pay for a pair, though.

I wear my Steve McQueen Persols almost exclusively now. 2+ years on and they are still as good as new. I tighten the hinges every month or so but thats it. Whenever I walk by a Persol dealer I pop in for a cleaning.

I still wear my RayBan "Caravan" a bit, also my "New Wayfarers" are a good look with my motorcycle.

I am going to pick these up for the summer.

As someone already mentioned, Persol are unique, rock solid builds. And just so happen to suit my style and face.
