Beirut 2015 DataSheet

So I flew to Beirut for the weekend and thought I would give you guys some of my insights as to how it went down.

Transport:

Flights are cheap out of Africa via Ethiopian Airlines, and you can basically go anywhere in the middle east, Africa and sometimes Europe under $750 USD. My flight cost me $500.

Taxis for me were a bitch, because I don't speak Arabic so basically every taxi ended up costing me $20-$35 USD ( I only used 3-4 on my whole trip, I walked alot). I eventually found out from some hot Jordanian chick that you can use "service" which means Taxis that take 4-5 people per trip to your destination for $2-$4 usd).

Lodging, Food & Drink:

I stayed on Hamra Street, basically the hustle and bustle of the city if you ask me, and was close to alot of the Major attractions like American University of Beirut, Zaytoon Bay, and the Alleyway a strip of bars and pubs with loads of hot women.

I would recommend anyone who visits for a short period to stay in the Hamra Area as this is where alot of the action is and Hot chicks hangout, especially at the Starbucks and nearby trendy coffeeshops during the day time.

I had a hookup on the hotel, so I cant really go into whether the rates were cheap or not, but food&drink is not cheap but not uber expensive here (Minimum $15-20 usd for a shawarma meal, $4 usd for a coffee, $8usd for a glass of red wine, $5 usd for a gass of arak which is local brew)

Best Restaurants:

Barbar - Local Diner with amazing shawarma
This little coffee shop in the same complex of Starbucks, with amazing kofta kababs and a cool sheesha hangout.

Nightlife:

Loads of Restaurants, Pubs, Bars and Clubs. Because I was sarging solo It was difficult to get into nightclubs because you apparently need bottle service to get into the bigger clubs, but the pubs on Hamra and Gezemayeh (spelling?) street are full of babes which you can approach. The security guards can harass you at times (possible because I was solo and look darkish middle eastern/but don't speak arabic) but overall people are generally friendly if you are warm to them from the beginning.

You can hang around Gezemayeh street after 1am (Thurs to Sat), and hit on the drunk girls, many who speak english and you might find some luck.

I found that women were quite open to approaches, friendly, polite and at times would giggle at my heavy North American accent. BUT, to me it seems you need a little bit more effort then just a convo and few drinks to pull them in the sack. I think If Beirut was my base for 3-4 weeks even I would do very well here, following up on day 2;s/3's but as a party destination to bang multiple chicks over a weekend just did not seem to work in my case.

The party scene is definitely fun, but it could be even better if you had a local chick show you around, or some friends who knew the area. (I guess thats where pipelining comes in, note to self!). Theres tons of people on couch surfing who are willing to do this, and I think next time around this is what I would do.

Daygame:

If you ask me this is where its at, but again it requires some time and investment on your part.
The best place to pick up girls are as follows:

Hamra Street - Starbucks/ Road Side Diners/ Coffee Shops

American University of Beirut: Loads I mean loads of babes in the Uni and this area, which you can meet, talk too, game etc. Very friendly and hot!

Conclusions:

Beirut is a beautiful city with some of the most hottest women Ive ever seen, which I would love to spend more time in. I would say a visit requires a bit of investment ahead of time to make sure you have the right contacts there, and a 7+ day visit preferably with friends would be ideal to get pimpin.

Nice data sheet and a +1 from me. Lebanese food is some of my favourite international cuisines but I'm surprised that you were paying so much for a basic shawarma meal, here in Canada I pay about $8-12 USD for a huge platter, was this in nice restaurants or are even the more basic places that expensive too? One question I have about Beirut is how easy was it to get by on just English, do most people on the street that you interacted with speak basic English? Having grown up around lots of Lebanese families in Canada, I'm not sure if I'd go there solely to chase women as Lebanese guys are super protective of their women and I'm sure they are a huge pain in the ass over there too. I'd probably go there and chill on some beaches, tour Beirut, smoke a ton of hash and eat falafels all day.

Cool datasheet, but I'd be very interested to know the answer to this as well.

From time to time, this particular board attracts travel marketers who want us to go to a certain spot. But the blue pill kicks in and they are quick to say that the girls aren't easy but the food and sites are good.

It's the weirdest thing.

No I didn't bang. I have learnt my lesson on traveling solo and the importance of pipelining when visiting non-western societies. Even though my trip was 3 days, with better planning and logistics I am sure I could have banged.

In regards to safety - the place is swarming with cops and army, so I didn't see any real security concerns, unless things heat up with Mid East politics. According to the taxi drivers, Iran has a stronghold on the area, via Hezbollah, so it will be interesting to see how things play out in the future.

It kinda sucked getting thrown out of the bars by security guards in Hamra, but it allowed me to change my focus to having fun and enjoying the culture rather then my initial objective of pimping it up.

I don't blame anyone but myself for not banging. So yeah I learn't my lesson and will improve next time around.

Peace.

Where in leb are shawarmas for that much? The best shawarma sandwiches are like 4$, and you can find cheaper ones everywhere.

Yeah sucks that you didnt know about service, plus theres uber here now, for those who insist on taxi.

Hamra is a nice scene but theres loads of hot girls who dont hang out there. If you want pubs and bars theres also uruguay street, mar mikhael street, etc...

Barbar is tasty but a bit dirty [Image: tongue.gif]

The big clubs dont really require bottle service, they have huge seated bars that you can sit on, but like you said they saw a solo guy and maybe were a bit tough. It has been quite packed everywhere lately specially with the end of Ramadan, so mightve added to stricter door policies.

Did you try the lounges? Iris, Myu, Seven sisters, caprice, etc?

Theres a new-ish spot called Garten that focuses on house music, foreigners seem to like the layout/vibe.

Sorry for hijackign but leb behavior here is different from lebs in canada and OZ. Generally if shes not a gf or sister guys wont be that protective of girls in their circle when going out. Never witnessed that, neither with me nor with foreigners. Often its the opposite.

Most girls youll meet during nightlife or in reasonable daygame spots will speak good english.

No shame in that. Thanks for the honest report. I take an honest report over embellishment any day. The girls from Beirut I have met while traveling have been hot. Anyone care to share if they pulled a local girl while in Beirut?

In Lebanon, you have to understand that you have two main kind of girls.

Muslim girls, they will speak Arabic and English, conservative.
Catholic girls, they will speak Arabic, French and English. More open.

I have a very good friend who is from Beirut, we were at the university together in France, now he is working in Beirut.

ONS is almost impossible here. I never heard this kind of story (in Lebanon, not abroad), due to the extremely high social pressure, family and friends.

Also, Lebanese girls are the first (or second after Venezuela) in terms of esthetic surgery. That's why they seem to have big boobs, lips. it's so common here.

Anyway, in Lebanon you need time and social circle is the key. By the way, Lebanese people are one of the nicest people I have ever met. I mean, they are very kind, charming, open to discuss.
It comes from the fact that at any days they can be under an attack from Israel or whatever. meaning they enjoy everyday as the last.

Remember that you can't travel to Lebanon with an Israeli stamp on your passport and vice/versa.

You can travel to Israel with a Lebanese stamp in your passport. Just not the other way around.

Thanks for the great information! I'm also going there for like 3 days in October. I was getting a little worried it'd be hard to find a good day game spot on the street. Couldn't find any good tour guides on youtube either. Now I know where I'm gonna stay. What would you advise as far as tourism?

It needs a bit of updating, will do so when i have time.

The main tourist stuff are:

1- harissa church and jeita grotto around the jounieh area
2- byblos old town and old port
3- baalbeck roman ruins (in hezballa territory but its fine)
4- beaches in byblos, north lebanon, tyr in the south. Anfeh in the north is hyped up this summer
5- Qannoubine valley, arez forest
6- deir el qamar historic village, beiteddine palace in chouf.

Always wanted to go to "Paris" of the Middle East!
Can you say anything about the safety issue over there nowadays?

Street crime is very low. I dont know anyone who was mugged or whatever in all my life here.

The safety concerns are mainly political. Theres isis and nusra on the border far from beirut but still some skirmishes happened. You would never know that theyre there though.

Obviously war with israel or some major political conflict can happen at any time so in a way, its either very safe or a warzone. So pretty safe to come when theres nothing going on

How is the condition of the city? My dad is from Beirut (Hamra) and he left when SHTF in the 70's. He returned last summer and was shocked at the condition of the city, he was almost in tears describing it. Refugees everywhere, people shitting on the Raouche, trash piling up, etc. I would like to visit in a few years but I think what I would experience would be drastically different from the picture he painted of Beirut in the 60's-70's.

Every time I come back here.....easiest place in the world for someone from the West to attract beautiful women with 0 effort. Every guy there either looks Italian or like a computer technician; if you rock up with anything different, you're in. Tall and Norwegian, in. Short & African-American, in. Average height with curly hair, in. Anyone with anything interesting about them - in. These women crave 'worldly men'; e.g, anyone from a 1st-world country. I just can't get over these women and this place. The place could be more beautiful for sure, but the people. The WOMEN. They are just so educated compared to most. I've noticed that - Israel & Lebanon produce women who actually /know shit/ at only 19 years old. They're either into architecture, medicine, fitness, biology, writing. All i'm used to in the West is travel bloggers, homebody's with 0 interests outside of either modelling, getting drunk or watching Marvel movies.

Over here they're slut-shaming someone on Twitter today; just search 'Aziz Lara' in the search bar over there, it's funny. Some guy made a whole PDF spreadsheet about his cock-hungry beauty over the past 2 years who's been on all kinds of dick despite being 'part of his family' etc. These women have both sides really tied up. They do all the nasty, but they don't flaunt it, at all. How many years before they're ruined - maybe 5.

Adonis parts of the city look pretty nice. Downtown is all new buildings and shops and stuff. Zaytuna bay is waterfront restaurants. Mar mkhayel is the old buildings with the bar street and restaurants. Ashrafieh is the expensive but rundown residential Christian area. Hamra is where the universities are but also a lot of street people and you’re in a more mixed Muslim area there. Raouche is the waterfront promenade but a lot of Syrians and poor people go hang out there so it has a bit of everything. When you get into th suburbs it can look like Afghanistan in some places. It isn’t the Monaco style paradise of pre war days but it has its charms because of the diversity of vibes and cultures

Worth correcting some bad wording of mine just a few posts ago.
Lebanon is BEAUTIFUL. It isn't what you'd expect after all the Western imagery we've had subtly pushed on us when it comes to the M.E & such.
I would prefer more vegetation & turquoise water around coastal areas for paragliding reasons, but that's it.
Not fond of the Cedars; wish the country had a serene spot like Oman has in Salalah instead. If I could combine Lebanon + Oman's scenery, perfect. If i could steal Greece's sea-colour, I'd probably marry the place. With all that in mind..i'm going to search for that little slice somewhere in Lebanon with just a pinch of all that.

^ I have a hard time saying Lebanon is beautiful because it should be way more beautiful than it currently is. I go to Southern France and Italy and i see the same landscapes i see back home, and Lebanon has 3x the history. But there i see tiled rooftops, clean streets, urban planning, preservation of the character and here i see rubbish on badly paved streets, chaotic construction, polluted sea, deforested mountains, etc... Still you have a lot of beautiful spots but if we were not so idiotic we could have made this place a paradise.

Its quite heartbreaking. To me the Jounieh bay area for example could have been one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
