Wearing a Suit Makes you More Powerful

I don't wear a full formal suit every day (I mean suit, pants tie, or even vest).

I do see why guys here would think that working out is more valuable than fabric. However, to me, fabric takes a higher priority and has given me way more mileage in how much respect and value I earn, including money. It's not that I don't work out. However I have a skinny frame and the lifting has given me some upper body mass that I feel is enough for now. My fashion takes care of the rest and goes a long way.

I wear some slim fit pants, a blazer, a shirt that pops and a matching pocket square. I have a distinct image. People compliment the look. I've even got into a sales contest and won to make my boss wear pocket squares for a week. He also got compliments. [Image: lol.gif]

I'm about the only guy rocking this look in the downtown Chicago area so I stand out. My point is that it gives me a lot of confidence and power to stand out like this beyond just a traditional suit. And, oh yeah, I hate ties.

We're very much on the same page about personal style. I rarely wear ties as well. I just wear what makes me feel great. I started wearing suits daily when I was a point in my life where I needed a confidence boost and it helped out a lot.

Although I've grown as a man to where I feel confident with or without the suit, I still love the feeling to gives me when I throw one on.

There's no substitute for walking out the door in the morning know that you look your absolute best.

I've been lazy the last two years, because I've been focused on other things instead of maintaining my wardrobe and trip to the drycleaners, so I've been mostly just wearing blazers over jeans.

However, having reached a point of stability where I can earn great money without having work as hard for it as I did in the past, I've taking my entire suit collection out of storage and am about to jump back into daily wearing.

Because I love suits.

Ditto on the slim fit pants.

Based upon my observations, I think that any good clothes make you feel more powerful and more attractive. Especially if you have a decent body.

The only thing you need to keep in mind is...what kind of women (and people in general) you want to attract?

When I was wearing my suit (I was on my way to the Uni, had a presentation to do, so I needed to look serious) with all accessories (tie, shoes, expensive Swiss watch...), I drew attention of women who obviously are looking for a walking ATM and Dildo machine. They want me...but I don't want them. Not to mention that they are older (25+, and I do not date them, unless their second name is Gates or Jobs).

On the other hand, when I wear my leather jacket (biker style) and a good pair of jeans and boots, I tend to attract younger women, which look for fun. Mostly girls who are at Uni, or even High School. I prefer that type of girls (less baggage, and better LTR prospects), so I focus on that style ( they call it "Canadian woodcutter style" here ).

What I want to say is that you can feel powerful regardless of clothing you are wearing. "Inner game" and a good psychique are the key. The only difference is with what kind of people you want to interact with (i.e girls).

This is a serious question:

Any of you suit wearers who also workout regularly run into problems with outgrowing your suits? Right now I do not own a suit that fits me, and I'm honestly hesitant to get one made if I'm still on that gain-train and will grow out of that one in the near future as well. Should I just hold off until I'm at a body size I plan to stay at for a long time, or should I get a suit made that has a little bit of room? Do they make high-quality suits that have stretchy materials?

I experienced that problem.

Two of my suits are getting tight for me in the crotch and the upper leg area, and I can barely close the suit jacket. I bought these when I was 83 kg. Now, I am 91 kg (gained mostly muscle, and a little bit of fat as well. Aiming for 110 kg). I might have to get rid of them soon. Pity...they are very nice... .

Now, if you really need a suit, get one from some second hand store, or some auction on Ebay.

What I suggest is that you avoid (if possible) buying any suits before you hit you body size goal(s). When you eventually reach your goal, then you can start building your wardrobe.

Trust me, letting a nice suit go (custom made Pal Zileri)...ain't fun [Image: sad.gif]

I will say that I agree with this. I live in a university town though am a bit older than uni age and have found that even though my wardrobe has improved since moving here, I do not seem to have any better success with my target audience (uni age). More casual style that is well put together seems to do a better job overall. Perhaps it is because a suit makes me look "too old". Perhaps it is because the girls just want fun and so my leather jacket/boots look just looks more fun. Whatever the reason, I think if you want uni age girls, my experiences have not shown suit game to be more effective. Just my two cents.

In my case I feel very awkward using casual wear, but I'm comfortable using suits. Also, the inner game and mindset play a huge part in regards to your image. For example: If you feel like an office drone when using a suit, you'll project that image, but if you feel like an interesting man with a nice suit, you'll project that image.

TL;DR: The suit isn't necessarily the problem, it's the mindset.

Looks, ridiculous, actually. Reminds me of high school when guys wore chuck taylors with their prom suits to try being cool. tennis shoes make this guys whole outfit look wack.

All you suit wearers must live somewhere that is always 70 degrees farenheit or less. I have never lived anywhere wher wearing a suit is a viable option, thus at my advanced age I have only wore a suit once in my life and that was for my brothers wedding. Still never learned to tie a tie. There is a lot more to mens fashion than suits. I for one prefer loose linens as they are comfortable in heat and don't restrict my range of movement. Never know when you might have to roundhouse kick to back-spinning elbow someone in the face, you know.

Nothing wrong with dressing fromally yet there are many looks wich don't involve suit and tie.

Yeah I found I have had the same experiences. I have many many suits in my closet and have dialed it back since it seems I am getting more luck with younger girls and they prefer the "street style" better. Meaning leather jackets, snapbacks and things of that nature.

Cool story bruh. Let me know when you can get 138k likes on a instagram pic wearing "tennis shoes". You clearly don't know about intricacies of a suit and how he pulls it off. Look up Thom Browne and you may get an idea.

Suits are trending now towards wearing shorts, sneakers, patterns, fit, louder ties, patterned shirts.

This picture shows why shoes are so important. Due to his terrible choice of footwear the entire outfit looks shit, throw in a decent pair of shoes and it looks much better. In that photo he just looks silly

You're right, today they made suits are something else, you won't pimp in this one but you'll sure stand out

You don't seem to realize that the guy gets likes because he is a model. He could be wearing a custom suit with SpongeBob SquarePants printed all over it and women wouldn't even think twice about wanting to fuck him.

Thanks for the advice comrade. I didn't think about checking second hand stores. I suppose one could find pretty decent threads in there. I wonder if it's possible to find anything of quality at a TJ Maxx or Ross. I know you can find fantastic denim there as well as underwear and socks.

For warm weather I rock a linen suit. Typically you'll find these in light colors since they're a summertime item. Way more casual than your average blue wool suit - due to color and fabric.

Linen always wrinkles a bit, though a suit jacket is much heavier than a linen shirt so it doesn't wrinkle quite as much

Dry cleaning prevents it from getting too wrinkly as well

A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

Hi,

First post here guys. For what it's worth, I noticed that whenever I wear a suit I get more attention from quality women.

Then again it's horses for courses, so perhaps suits for a more formal day game environment and then your cool jackets for night game ?

If you have a muscular build I think suiting up does more harm than good. A well fitted button up or polo shirt tucked into Some nice dress pants/chinos works better.

You need to know your environment and target audience as well. Let me tell you right now that a suit doesn't impress most 18-21 year olds, who don't know what life is like without a male provider yet. You're better pulling off street wear and showing some skin if you're targeting really young girls.

Suits do have a place in the right environment/situation but I've never been big on them in general.

I agree. Everything has to be put into context. Telling every guy to go out and suit up on the weekend makes no fucking sense depending on the location and setting...

Yeah suits look good but don't worry about it if you're not at venues where it would be appropriate. If I wore a suit to the local Irish pub I'd look like a fucking clown. If I wore one to the local hip hop club I'd look like an idiot. But at the more upscale latin dance club it'd be appropriate.

This guy looks good in a suit and running shoes the same way hot girls look good in retard outfits.

If you're good-looking and can strike a pose with presence, you'll be able to make anything look good.

Take away the confident pose, the model quality looks, the intricate hair, the professional camera lens which has faded the background and you're stuck with an outfit the wouldn't look good on 99% of guys.

This is the only guy I've ever seen who can pull of this look and he's a TV personality.

[Image: MasterChef-Recap-Not-Gordon-Ramsays-Firs...deo-3.jpeg]

Don't use this crazy stuff as your goal if you are going to get into casual suits.

Instead, go with the non-formal patterned shirts and make sure your suits have a great fit.

Skip the running shoes, the shorts and the ties altogether.

Experiment very carefully with casual shoes and casual belts, such as:

[Image: Mens-and-Male-Models-Street-Style-2014-17.jpg]

[Image: suedeshoes-look2-4.jpg?resize=664%2C387]

[Image: white-jeans-blue-suede-shoes-preppy.jpg]

Once you've done that with success, wade very slowly into the running shoes and suits arena with shoes like this:

[Image: ttempah_gl_9jan13_rexfeatures_b_592x888-406x610.jpg]

The rest of the outfit is ridiculous, but I could see the shoes working with a blazer if you were wearing jeans, corduroys or other more casual pants.

If you are able to pull this look off, it's going to be because you stuck to runners that feature no more than two colours.

If you are after traditional GQ suiting then sure you may think this looks ridiculous as it doesn't fit your ideals of how suiting should look like.
This is what is trending now, if you pull this off in any setting which I doubt most guys would even attempt to do you are setting apart yourself quite differently.

Sure you can dress James Bond GQ style, anyone can do that. Who Cares? Wearing "tennis shoes" shows that you understand suiting while going for something different.

If chicks are opening you commenting on a particular clothing item that you are wearing, you are doing it right. Think outside the box.
