I bolded why I wish your disagreement was based more on credible sources rather than a desire to race troll. And that's heavy on the forum; so not surprised.

You won't see many "news stories" involving Indians in more positive contexts but that's not because they don't exist.

These news stories are nothing more than Western propaganda designed to undermine Indians and Indian culture. While I don't disagree that weird and vile things happen, they are very small in number and committed by mentally deranged individuals. The problem is that every incident is highlighted and broadcasted.

It's akin to saying all white people are deranged psychos who will shoot up little kids with guns.

Having said all this, again I agree that many poorer Indian guys will actually harass women on the streets verbally. Verbally harass does not mean masturbate in the bushes, which is a comical invention.

White women and Westernized/Urban Indian women suffer more from this harassment than regular Indian girls. This is because these girls are foreign to many of these men who come from really downtrodden villages - it's like seeing an alien. These girls have been highly pedestalized for them their entire lives. They also see these girls as "easy" and "cheap", a sentiment I think they share with a lot of men on this forum.

Rape victims are considered unfit for marriage.any cases involving sons of high powered political people go unpunished, many go cold until the news reports them and people get fired over inaction. Maybe it's not "rape capital of the world" but it's known to be a very large issue there, more than just a quantity issue it's also a HUGE cultural stigma. Even in major cities women are afraid to go out solo at night and commonly won't do it.

It may be over publicized but that does not = not a big problem. Corruption, stigma against reporting and being known (much more so than in the west) make this a big deal.

Police deputy was fired, investigators were fired for inaction, and an entire city shut down and went to protest the un punished and un investigated rape of a 6 year old girl by her school staff.

But my experiences mean nothing.

I did see one example of father killing his daughters rapist however, you may be right there. It was littered amongst all the other rape cases.

I think what you're calling "experience" is being in India and seeing some protests and events as a third party. Or maybe you were just reading the newspapers. Just doesn't appear that you have lived the experience to understand the nuances of how this culture operates. This is fine, but I would also refrain from calling that experience.

In regards to "rape culture," in India, yes that shit is real but not that real. Let me tell you what is real as someone that's grown up in that culture. hwuzhere is right. When I was growing up, one of the values that were instilled in me was that if someone in my family gets raped, I sure as hell will kill that person. It's a value the entire community held dear. It protected that community. It was a code. Communities there, especially middle class, are very transparent. Shit goes down, the neighborhood will know. Someone does strange shit, the neighborhood will know. Contrast that to an American suburb where I don't see some neighbors for months on out. Who knows who got raped.

So yes, it's a big deal in India. HUGE. However, that still doesn't mean it happens at a certain level of frequency, especially given the tight knit communities, and internal policing. Remember, the cops there can be corrupt too so this internal policing is all but necessary. As far as repercussions, while in the USA, you can wait for a fair trial, over there you may part with your precious nuts, Judge Dredd style. And remember, cops likely will not give a shit since it was rape and they take it seriously (or not). Remember it works both ways.

And big cities in India, I wouldn't be so quick to call them so conservative. There are enough clubs in Delhi and Mumbai that will see girls slutted out. The control here are the cockblocks (men/friends that accompany them for "security"). Women who dress provocatively come with impending cockblocks. Again contrast with the USA where security is more or less formal not personal.
