Good story but man this is exactly the type of shit that will get you fucked up, jumping in a taxi with two skanks who Tully Mars, a Bogota vet (what up TM?) warned you about, not the wisest decision bro, but glad to hear that you survived and got laid. I told you all about the time those two skanks in Medellin drugged me and robbed me, its not fun and it happened in a way that was very similar to your story, I was drunk and thinking with the wrong head. I shouldn't preach because you've seen me in action, I've done some really risky and stupid shit, but if you get killed then what the fuck am I going to do with your bed, boots and all the other shit you left at my place?

When in doubt ask to see their cedulas (ID) especially for over 18. Nice story, lucky to come out unscathed. Take lots of pictures on the club where u share the photos with your friends. Whatsapp a few pics of the girls and this way if they rob you you could possibly ID them later thru police , bouncers etc.

Ya I will play it safer in the future.

Just seen a woman get smashed by a motorbike while crossing the road on her phone. Instant crowd of spectators watching the action afterwards. They love the drama. I seen a car crash a few weeks ago and right after it happened a guy set up his food stall in front of the crash (on the road) to cash in on the instant crowd. Everyone is on their phones trying to deal with the crash and this guy is shouting about selling peanuts or something haha.

Golden touchdown for Barranquilla. Nice 20 year old who came over to the hotel 10 minutes after checking in. 2 nice bangs and a decent massage. Off to a good start.

We had a crazy day with our flight getting stuck on the airport runway for 1.5 hrs and some hassle with an Airbnb reservation that we had to cancel. We have since moved into one of the nicer hotels in town and are well set up for the week. Should be fun...

Barranquilla has been kinda crazy so far. Got a very easy lay last night but today has been nothing but headaches.
Girls online are a very mixed bunch - lots of hookers and hustlers. Went out for lunch with a girl earlier that had the worst attitude. Bilingual with a terrible princess attitude. She was okay looking with a very hot face so I stuck in thinking it might be worth it but I sent her home after a few minutes back in the hotel room. I have to step up the screening here on the coast big time to avoid that happening again.

Atlantic, I'm glad you have other guys there like Fisto, Scotian, LINUX, who seem to be willing to pull your coat.

Get it in, but no fuckin' pussy is ever worth your life.

Keep doing your thing, but you can still be smart about it in the process.

Thanks but to be fair I have been rolling solo a lot of the time and am able to look after myself. That night just got a little out of hand but the vast majority of dates and nights out here I have been smart and cautious. Colombia has a way of slowly making you feel safer and safer until something happens that snaps you back a bit. That was one of those nights. If shit had of went down I would be able to handle myself. I am an aware guy and very rarely get caught out in some situation but granted that night I had too much booze and also had threesome vision. I have been getting good advice and watching these guys closely but ain't nobody holding my hand down here (if that is what implied by 'pull your coat'). Thanks for looking out though.

Plus I am on security level red now that I am back on the coast. It definitely seems more dangerous in these parts.

I don't really understand what you mean when you say "If shit had of went down I would be able to handle myself." If shit was going down, the plan likely would have been for one of the girls to get you naked and distracted, while the other one called/texted their friend Jose to come over on his moto to rob the gringo. You would suddenly have a gun in your face. And they might have forced you to go to the atm and withdraw your limit in addition to taking whatever you had on you. Resistance would equal getting beaten or possibly shot.

I seem to be getting some heat for this... I left with two girls who said they lived beside me (yes it was a lie) and had been seen all night beside me in a reputable nightclub. Yes one of the forum guys said she was a hooker but I am sure a few of girls down in these types of clubs down here are to some degree. I am not the first person on here to try shore a hooker and it is also pretty common to get in a taxi down here with two girls. It is not like I found two girls at a park and got in a taxi with them. If shit had really gone bad there would have been 20 cameras that would have had footage of them that night with me and also one forum guy knew who they were. I could have gotten out of the taxi when I realized these girls were going elsewhere but then I would have been by myself on the side of the road drunk. I stuck with the safest option and kept as sharp about things as possible. Keep in mind I had a dead phone.

If shit went down: I would have handed stuff over and not panicked. I don't think someone is going to shot a 'gringo' that has been on camera with them all night. If someone IS going to shot me then that could have happened a 1000 times already in any situation. Taking a taxi here (which I do multiple times everyday) is always dangerous. Every day down here you can be hypnotically robbed or murdered in any place. Colombia is always dangerous.

I appreciate peoples concern but if you come down here you are going to get into these types of situations eventually. Unless you want to stay in your apartment and watch TV. I will try and avoid it but anyone who has lived here will know this happens every so often regardless.

Everyone has a different risk tolerance. Without risk there's no reward. Every time you invite some random girl to your apartment in Colombia you run the risk of something happening. I probably would've done the same thing in his situation, being drunk and with the chance for a threesome. Although, I probably would've risked getting out somewhere if they were taking me somewhere other than they had promised.

To reduce the risk I do the following, if at all possible.

1. Go to your apartment instead of hers. Even if all of my shit is there, I always hide the important stuff in different places before heading out so that hopefully if something goes down they will only get part of it. I have a knife in my nightstand and there's always kitchen knives if necessary. There's also normally a camera on the premises (at least in the lobby). If I really don't trust her I tell her she has to check in with the doorman due to building policy. He'll check her in using her cedula (this is also a good way to screen for underage girls). Make sure you ask the doorman beforehand; they always say it's fine where I have stayed.

2. Always have a charged phone. You might need to make an emergency call at some point and you should always try to text the taxi plate numbers to someone you trust if the situation seems sketchy. Many taxis also have the plate numbers etched into the window sill, in case you don't see it when getting in. You can also follow the route with your GPS, if necessary. Even better, use Easy Taxi or Uber, if you have time before leaving. They have Uber in Medellin now, not sure about other cities.

3. If your phone is dead, ask to borrow hers to make a phone call to check on your friend. Call up a buddy and tell him where you're going or leave a message. At least he'll have the girl's number on his phone and know to be aware if you go missing. Girls here don't have minutes sometimes, so good luck with this one.

4. Never let the girl call a cab. Ideally you should be using Easy Taxi or calling one you frequently use. Otherwise wave one down in the street or take one from the taxi stand. Never take a taxi the girl calls; it's most likely a setup.

5. Don't accept a drink from a random girl or guy unless you are with friends or see them pour for everyone directly from the bottle. Try to get her to share with you.

6. Trust your gut. If something seems off don't go with the girl to her place. No pussy is worth getting robbed or worse. Try your hardest to get her to your place and check her in with the doorman or take her to a love motel. Promise her you'll pay her taxi back to her place if she needs to go home that night.

I'm guilty of ignoring all of these at times, but if you're really concerned about safety and you follow all of these you should be ok.

In foreign countries, if I meet a random girl at a night venue and she invites me to a table with her friends--when given a drink I'll also put my lips to the glass and fake-drink it to see if anyone at the table is watching me with intent.

I don't mean to be giving you heat for this. But it seems like you have a false sense of security from cameras. It isn't the USA or Western Europe. The police rarely solve crimes, they are frequently busy committing them. In the USA and Western Europe, the vast majority of homicides are solved, in Latin America, only 3 to 10% are in most places.
It doesn't matter whether you were recorded on ten cameras or 100 cameras, or were seen in the background of a live news broadcast earlier in the night.
At 2am or whatever, you were in the middle of the barrio, and if the two chicks had decided to organize a robbery, and something had gone wrong and you got killed (the criminals there do not hesitate to shoot if you resist their demands, they know they won't get caught), your body would never have been found. If the police did an investigation and if they somehow found the girls (both unlikely), without a body or witnesses they could just say they said goodbye and you walked off down a street and they have no idea what happened. If your family had organized intense political pressure, it is possible the police would want to save their own asses and would then torture a confession out of the girls or out of some random useful idiot.
It is not inevitable to get into those kinds of situations. You were essentially playing with your life and flipping a coin. It is not a choice between going to the barrio with two drunk hookers and staying at home watching tv.
You can have plenty of fun while taking only controlled risks.
Anyway, congrats on the continual dick wetting. Have fun and stay safe.

Can you pack heat there? That would mean it goes both ways right? Or only if the locals do it?

Some countries, like Venezuela and Mexico, are even worse - depending on which statistics you believe, only 1-3% of homicides ever result in a prison sentence.
The going rate for a hit in Venezuela can be 50-100 dollars to have someone ride up on a moto and put a bullet in someone.
I don't think Colombia is much different.
Venezuela has now taken to trying to hide most of the data about its homicides, but on bad weekends there can be as many as 100 murders just in Caracas. It is difficult to hide away that many bodies, although I do remember that after one bloody weekend with 80 or so murders when I was in Venezuela back in 2011, a Caracas newspaper published photos of an overflowing morgue, and a meat refrigeration truck that had been used to stack extra bodies, and bodies just piled in a hospital. The government promptly denounced it as a sensationalist move and plot by foreign elements, and fined the newspaper a bunch of money.

I am going to Colombia in November and will be in Bogota for 10 days. My Mexican American friend is coming with that speaks fluent Spanish. We'd like to set up renting 2 studios or 1 BR's within the same building in Zona-T for that time. Does anyone have any recommendations? Please post here or PM me thanks (if you live in Bogota or are there I will happily buy you dinner and drinks one night).

What is still driving crime/murders in Venezuela and Colombia? Are they just random street robbery/shootings by random thugs? Organized crime by drug runners/gangs? Kidnappings for ransoms?
