Bogota for Six Months

Flights booked for next weekend. I plan on being there till early Sept. If my business tax returns come back solid I might do some weekend trips to other cities or maybe even Brazil.

I will be staying and working close to the Calle 60-70 Chapinero/Septima area. I like that area from my last trip and it's close enough to all other major areas that I would be going to.

Once I am settled in I should be teaching English just over 20 hours a week and the rest will be split between gym, learning Spanish, some boxing and yoga and of course day/night game.

If anyone is around get in touch and I will meet up.

I will keep the thread updated on my adventures and if people want me to track a certain thing post it up (costs, approaches, wages etc.).

My budget is around 2,000 US a month. I am going to be focusing on training a lot more and not drinking as much so that should be manageable.

Keep us updated on where you take these side trips. I'm in Medellin, but plan to take trips to Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Pereira, and some other places around Colombia in the near future.

I also have Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay in mind; I'm thinking June or July.

Only two days back and I already feel great. The difference in my mood here compared to Canada is quite noticeable. Maybe the weather or maybe just the ton of hot girls.

Had my job interview second round today and nearly certain I will be working before the month is out. On the way I was wearing a nice shirt and pants and got shit on by a pigeon one block from the office. Had to get a taxi back, change and return again. Not sure if good luck or not but quite funny.

Should be joining a gym tomorrow and boxing later in the week. I will also be starting Spanish school soon too and am definitely motivated to learn this time.

I have a solid cute girl at the moment but I will probably play around on the side. Joined ColombianCupid last night and have already been Skyping some girls and setting stuff up. Quality is good and they are good to chat with. Better than tinder for sure.

I am going to start trying some daygame too (even with no spanish) and am bringing in a three girl a day rule for myself.

I went to Nueva Lengua and recommend it, its a ten minute walk from Iglesia Lourdes and cost $180 for a week of intensive classes (four hours per day), its actually cheaper now then when I studied there three years ago. You can start any Monday, just show up and pay and they will give you a test then put you in the appropriate class. There's tons of unis and colleges around that also offer courses but you may need a student visa, its probably a lot easier to just go with a private one like Nueva Lengua but check this link out for other options: http://www.spanishincolombia.gov.co/

I just got to Bogota, you fuckers better be ready for a big night at Gringo Tuesdays!

First gym session at Body Tech Chapinero. Definitely a lot of hot girls, probably some strippers, and also a lot of gay guys ebing the gay district. Good facilities (sauna, showers, cardio, yoga, boxing, and lots more) and some decent weight sections including a good selection of free weights.

Cost is 215,000 a month so roughly 90 US I think. That is a six month contract. There is cheaper gyms nearby but I like paying extra for good service and its very close to my apartment. Ya lots of talent. Colombian gym girls are insanely hot.

I have a question for Atlantic or any of you Colombian specialists on here....I'm about to book a ticket for end of April to Bogota where I plan to spend a month and from there proceed travelling through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil until the end of August.. My question is it an issue if I buy a one way ticket to Colombia, will I get questions on the Toronto airport why don't I have a return ticket or something like that?
Come to think of it, I have another question, too [Image: smile.gif] ..Has anyone rented or is renting a room in a shared flat through AirBnB? How cool are generally the owners there with bringing different girls over to the flat? You can't really see what are the rules on that by reading their profiles.

Yes you need a return ticket or any ticket out of the country. I have bought one the day before then canceled upon arrival. Many airlines give you a 24 hour window to cancel without charge.

They should be all good bro, just don't send them a dick pic. So we hit up Gringo Tuesdays tonight and it went quite well, no 3somes but all of us (three RVF dudes) met up with girls, I opened three and they were very resonsive, went for the K-close on one but settled for the H-close with a number, which in Colombia, is often the best you can hope for as these skanks don't wanna appear as skanks in front of friends and family. Who knows, maybe she really isn't a skank but I sure hope that she is. I was dirty dancing with one of them and we've made plans to meet up, vamos a ver. Us RVF boys polished off a bottle of rum and Atlantic and I also drank a few mojitos so we were quite sloshed, by 10:00 PM the place turns into a complete sausage fest and is basically lame so I was keen to bounce. RVF member Getdownonit was making out with a cute chick and I"m pretty sure bounced, I don't know wtf happened to Atlantic but I think he may have left with this other chick he was macking on earlier, if he pokes her then he will be Eskimo bros with another non RVF Canadian dude who I"m good buddies with.

Nice Getdownonit - she was cute. I found her lost at one point and sent her back your way haha.

+1 for me too. I wasn't too sure in the beginning and thought I could do better but once I got her home she looked a lot hotter and had a great body. The lighting in Gringo Tuesday is quite dark (and we were hammered) so you take a small gamble. I got a few very solid numbers too, one girl in particular who I think I will meet up with tomorrow night.

^ Ya it did turn into a cockfest. Way worst then last time. On the way out I met 5 Irish guys trying to get in (along with 20 other dudes). This was like midnight/1 am and they were asking 'why is everyone leaving, doesn't it stay open to 3?'. hahaha 'Ya man but there won't be any girls'. If you come early to GT and dress well you are giving yourself a huge advantage over the other guys who show up later. Scotian seen some idiot in sandels get refused entry cause he looked like a bum.

No that should not be an issue. No one has asked.

One thing though is that the price of a single one way flight is very similar to return flights. It was when I checked from Alberta anyway.

Props to Atlantic for introducing me to that chick and sending her my way in the dark.

I took her back to my place pretty early, probably sometime around 10, so I didn't notice the sausagefest much. It's definitely best to get there while it's still light and you can chat up whoever you want -sin compromiso- since it's all about practicing languages [Image: lol.gif]

Definitely get there early, grab a prime location and a bottle and the chicks will come to you. Place gets packed around 9, when it transitions into your standard nightclub.

Competition is weak. Dude on line with the sandals was never getting in to begin with, but even the guys inside weren't much better. Most girls I talked to spoke English pretty well, so this place is a great bet if your Spanish isn't up to snuff.

After my first experience with Gringo Tuesdays, I'd say the return on investment is extremely high. Built-in venue change, no barrier to conversation, IOIs all around, it's almost too easy.

Just seen Newgames response. I stand corrected.

Yea, in the end a return direct flight ticket costs just 80 dollars more than a one way direct flight, so might as well buy return and then see if i can cancel it.

As for the accommodation situation in the nation, scotian's dick pic saga is a good example of what we have to live ever since internet and femal "logic" have met. However, I get the feeling you guys are all renting entire flats or something, in which case surely it will be smooth going to bring as many females as one wants. I am on a tighter budget though so I'm just looking at renting a room which will put me in the position to share the flat with the actual owner and you never know how he/she'll feel about it. It's also the first time I'll be using AirBnB so I don't even have any references...From a quick look around some profiles I couldn;t see anyone mentioning anything about visitor rules, but there was one who mentioned the rule that "you can't take food to the room, you have to eat in the kitchen", I imagine he wouldn't be down with his guest (albeit paying) bringing random sluts either. He might be a white knight (I had a couchsurfing story with a host who was an aggressive white knight), or a cockblocker, or just someone who is afraid bringing outside people might be a risk to his property...I guess no-one has been in a situation where they shared the flat with the owner?

Last night I stayed at Living 55 in Chapinero which cost 116.000 pesos but we had to leave so are at a hotel which is 125.000P, these are decent places but nothing too fancy, tomorrow we're moving to a two bedroom Airbnb apartment near Parque 93 (a much better neighbourhood) and that costs $60 USD all in. If you're on a stricter budget, then look into student housing, another RVF member stayed at on closer to centro and it was cheap, probably $200-250/month, it was decent, with a private room but shared kitchen and bathroom with three others. Actually these places may be better if you want to socialize and speak Spanish, plus they're often times better equipped with kitchen stuff then bare bones Airbnb places. I can ask around and probably find something for you or link you up with my bilingual buddies here who can show you around and help you get settled if you throw them a few bucks, just PM me.

Since you're on a tighter budget, you may want to consider another city like Medellin, Cali, Manizales or Barranquilla, compared to Bogota, these places are a lot cheaper and in many ways, much more livable. For example, a friend of mine recently moved to Manizales to teach English and him and another teacher are renting a massive three bedroom next to a uni with a big roof top patio, pool table, and ping pong table all for 500.000P, they had to furnish it but that didn't cost too much either. If you can handle the terrible weather (overcast, rainy), brutal traffic and poor air quality, Bogota is a great place to meet lots of women and the night life is the best in the country, I really enjoyed my time staying there (around four months in total) but won't live here again. I"m not really into chasing lots of girls anymore and am getting bored with the night club scene (although I still like to go drinking), for me, I'd rather stay in a small city with cleaner air that I can get around quickly, something like the coffee zone cities where you can take a cab across the city for 5000P.

I paid about 80000P ($40CAD) for 7 days at SPINNING CENTER GYM

Just home from my first day of English teacher training. All unpaid and all over town of course! Tomorrow I train some more and then I start Tuesday next week.

I sat in on a class at the University and actually really enjoyed it. I enjoy the teaching process and the teacher I watched was really impressive. I actually have a lot of learning to do with how English is structured and spoken. The class dynamic is good and the material is fun. That being said I am definitely getting a little screwed on (unpaid) lesson plans, hour sheets and commuting.

Is there a good datasheet on here about teaching English? Not the pay, women, job etc but actually how to teach English or resources.

I got some good leads for this weekend and am planning on partying with the guys ^ so we should have some good stories. Also Monday is a bank holiday so perfecto.

Check out eslcafe.com

Great board for jobs, ideas and a blog of experiences. Should help.

As for bogota, the traffic is horrendous ( which you know )..... If you can stick to a uni closeby and limit your commutes you are golden.

This may be useful: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-39143.html , I think that you'll be a good teacher, so long as you stop telling people that they've "got good English".[Image: tard.gif]

I actually got a job offer today from another company teaching at a high school form 8-4 everyday. I would rather the company I am with though even though it is sporadic. I get to work with some of the biggest Oil and Gas companies which is something I am definitely interested in. Plus if they deliver on their promises then it should be a good job.
