Edit: To piggyback off of ManvsMachine above, I never understood the hoopla around Beyonce. So many black chicks try to emulate her look. But she always seemed like just another over-produced, superficial pop-star to me. As someone who's a big music fan and musician, I was dumb-founded when Kanye west jumped on stage during the Grammys while Beck was receiving album of the year (he was just playing around of course ), and then later on said that Beyonce has greater "artistry" than Beck.

Is he fuckin serious? Beyonce is a half-naked dancing stage prop that has all of her songs written by other people. Beck (whether you like him or not) plays multiple instruments and writes his own shit. But Beyonce is the one with more artistry. And she doesn't even look that good without Photoshop.

And don't call me a fan of hers either. Kelly was always my favorite destiny's child. Also Alicia Keys was not always a great singer. Her range was bit limited when she started out. Whitney Houston is on a whole different level singing talent wise compared to Alicia or Beyonce.

In fact, if you had to list top ten female singers ever based on voice talent alone, Whitney would probably be in the top 3. Jennifer Hudson has a better chance making that list, as well as Christina Aguilera. That's a different level of elite.

Cheers for keeping me in check. Her meteoric rise to fame just doesn't sit well with me - not that I have been in any way, shape or form, connected to the mainstream music industry in the past decade, but she's really taking the eyes off the true talent because of how gullible people are.

Beyonce wrote nearly all the songs for Destiny's Child, some of which were hits, so it's not that she's not talented. Like all pop artist she's got a multi-million dollar label that get her best producers and writers so she can outsource the production/writing and leave it to the pros.

To be fair, I think that pic was taken too close and that light was too harsh. No one really looks good in hard light.
