Things You Accomplished in 2014

In 2014, I decided to hit the eject button a job I loved in some ways but realized my expiration date there was up there. True to form, I quit with another job.

Thanks to all the great info from members on the Travel forum put together a 3 month world tour from Mexico through Asia, captured flags, saw the world and had a great time.

Then I came back to the US, did some contract work and eventually landed a new job paying more with more growth potential.

This year I also learned a lot about personal finance, passive investment and wealth management by figuring out who to read article and book-wise and reading the Bogleheads forum. Helped my parents a bit with their retirement planning and started sorting out what possibilities I can have moving forward with various incomes and savings.

Goals for 2015 include:
- Continue advancing my career and stacking cheddar
- Getting back in shape. I had an injury this year and let it be an excuse fall to a relative low in terms of fitness
- Put some routine around my Spanish language practice, it's fallen off and I need some structure to stick with it
- Up my game in California more. It might be the easiest place to come up empty night after night but I've had better streaks and it looks like I have another few years here

This was the year that I really started to come to terms, after my travels, that I'll probably want to get out of the US at some point. Right now I want to earn, stack and enjoy the urban life but I need an exit plan too.

What a life changing year...

- Learned more about business then my entire life together. This also helped a lot to see and understand this world more clearly and not only from the eyes of a working class kid
- Established great daily habits like meditation, working out, healthy diet, reading, waking up early, goal setting
- Got rid of drinking alcohol (looking back it was probably way more than a "bad habit"...)
- Moved forward with my main business
- Landed a great location independent job that will allow me to bootstrap 2 new businesses in 2015
- My life is much more balanced and not only focused on travelling, party and girls as before
- Saw many new places and have access to quality women

Things You Accomplished in 2014

Great thread I have enjoyed reading all the posts many posters here are kicking life's ass and doing great things.

This year:

Moved to Thailand on a one way ticket and secured work and been employed for past year.

Quit drinking this year and have been sober for 6 months straight which is the first time since high school I have been sober.

Have been exercising, eating cleaner and reading more.

Really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with fellow RVF members.

2014 has been an important year and I feel the trajectory I have established this past year is going to lay the groundwork for an amazing future in all areas of my life.

I've got a long way to go but the main thing I need to keep doing is moving forward. Once I moved and got a fuck buddy I stagnated again but its time to go out there and take what I want.

For some reason this one stood out for me. I feel stagnant right now, need to jump jobs/industry, and not sure what to do.

Thanks WC for the post. Just tells ya, doesn't matter what you did, somebody will find value in it.

-Setup my own side hustle- dental implants @ other doctors offices
-Setup a cash-hustle
-Put a ton of $ away into the retirement accounts (thanks solo 401k, employer contributed SEP-IRA, and traditional IRA). Traditional IRA was not tax deductible but it will grow tax-free until withdrawal. Compounding is the 8th wonder of the world!!!!!
- Finally, saved up for a down payment here in LA. Toss up between small house/condo or industrial property/commerical property. <--- Downside of these investments is I still will be living @ home for another year =(.
- Really expanded my social circle and stepped away from partying as much. Am boozing just as much, but spending the booze time more productively. Restaurants, dinners and cigar bars.
- Found a mentor (70 yr old super-succesful multi-millionaire) through my local cigar shop.
- Have a healthier sexual perspective <---- I always had this desire to have a large harem and rack up huge #s. I got what i dreamed of -----the #s up and got the large harem(6-8 girls)---- and after a while it wasn't satisfying. The goal was more stimulating than the actual experience. Oh well. I still have my main girl, side girl, and occasional out of town side pieces but its a lot less moving parts.
- Read 50+ books.

Things You Accomplished in 2014

This year was major ups and downs.

I accomplished many things the first half of the year then slipped up and went completely downhill during the summer. Spent the last few months slacking off and regretting what I had done. However, I believe those mistakes were very important for me, they made me realize what I absolutely can not do if I want to accomplish my dreams. I believe now I have a much stronger mindset than I ever had before and once I get going there's no looking back.

Things You Accomplished in 2014

This was my most unproductive year since my mid 20's. But as this is a positive thread, I can at least look at it as:

I healed and started work again in the oilfields.

Learned a new skill.

Got back in shape from swinging a hammer again. I'll take old man strengh over gym any day of the week.

Went from 0k to 40k to 100k (salary) and will continue towards 200k soon.

Set the stage to knock down many beautiful Latinas upon my return to Texas. (Amazing Facebook game hack)

Will probably fuck the daughter of a chick I used to date years ago. (21 y.o.) Sending a pic to Fisto to rate.

Stopped smoking one year ago this month. [Image: banana.gif]

Have been Jager free for 3+ years.

Have been on a sucessful campaign to bury the hatchet and lessen my enemies list. I'm getting to old to wage a war at every turn. I'm also starting to find out when you stop ignoring ex gf's they sometimes give you more pussy. Who would have thunk it? [Image: huh.gif]

Things You Accomplished in 2014

2014 had a bit of a rough ending for me, but I need to remind myself that I hit some huge milestones this year. I'll use the list below as motivation to begin 2015 with some better energy and discipline.

- Started a side hustle doing what I love (web development and digital illustration).
- Resurrected an interactive design project, and steadily worked on it throughout the year. I'm hoping to finish up within the next few months, and if this thing takes off, it could change my career. Good stuff.
- Saw a ton of live music.
- Really stepped up my style game.
- Fell into a nice fitness routine, and have never looked better naked.
- Posted my highest annual notch count ever.
- And most importantly...I shifted my mindset more towards self-improvement, and pushed myself to take action if I wanted to become better at something. Some examples: I wanted to learn how to spin girls around at weddings like a smooth motherfucker, so I took four months of swing dancing classes. I wanted to stop sucking at beach volleyball, so I took lessons all summer and played in three leagues. I wanted to stop dressing like a boring IT dude everyday, so I started reading men's style blogs, then went out and completely overhauled my look.

Although I don't post often, I read this forum everyday, and in many ways the words here have helped push me to accomplish several items in that list. Many thanks.

-Went to Paris and ate at a legendary restaurant I've been dreaming about for the last 10 years (it lived up to expectations).
-Went to Asia for the first time
-improved my lifts across the board and drastically changed my physique
-improved my physical endurance
-improved my French
-added 30K to the bank
-It may be too soon to tell, but I might be done working for other people. Got fired from a job and started looking into writing and freelancing, but 2015 will be the year to see if I can make it on my own or not. I remain optimistic.

Things You Accomplished in 2014

I spent a lot of this year in Afghanistan, and it was the best learning experience I could ask for. I worked with more countries than I can remember, and my worldview just blew up. When I talk to people in the US I'm always guessing at what their heritage is, because those national stereotypes are just burned into my head now.

Plus, my boss was the best manager I've ever come across, and after watching that man play the game, I'm never worried about being able function in any other workplace.

I managed to go down to the Dominican Republic for two weeks, which was a great time. Besides the women, a personal highlight of mine was when I was leaving. They need to know if you're Dominican or another nationality when you're flying out, and when I walked up to the line, the girl said, "Dominicano? A donde vas?" I had to say, "No. I'm American." She got those huge surprise eyes, and was like, "I'm sorry! You have a very Dominican face!" I'm German-Irish, so it definitely wasn't my face. But, I put a lot of effort to watch and understand Dominican movements and gestures, so it was nice to know that I got it down (mainly so when I get lost in places like Los Alcarrizos, I can move like I belong).

I also got to spend a couple days in Romania. No bangs, but it was still fun. The place reminded me of a huge small town carnival, in a good way.

After I got back, I got my Concealed Carry Permit. It changes your whole outlook on situations, like riding a motorcycle does for driving. You're suddenly aware of everybody, and the little things just slide away. It seems that I'm getting a lot more positive reactions from people with that outlook, too.

Oh, and Dominican chicas inspired me to learn bachata, salsa, and merengue. Dancing bachata with a chick makes her so much hotter.

- Learned a LOT about business. Found out I like marketing and sales. Going to finish up college, then head into that space.
- Started my first income stream. (still in college though). Hopefully have more contracts coming up as a freelancer.
- Got through 2 more BS semesters of engineering with a 3.0+. 3.5 more BS semesters to go...
- Got to like 20 pullups.
- Have some really cool projects lined up.

Bad Stuff:
- Got a speeding ticket
- Screwed up my car tires ~2 times.

I'm going to buy a new car this year after I save enough cash. I hate my car.

This next year: Ignore girls. School + Making Money.

Then after I have some location independent positive cashflow spend the next said years chasing women all over the world. Once again.

Things You Accomplished in 2014

Good thread to find before NYE where I'm at.

The first half of 2014 was pretty average for me, but the second half has been the most productive one of my life. I have this thing about writing my achievements down a wall sticky sheet every 3 months, and in the second half of 2014, I had to use several.

What partially inspired me was travelling overseas around mid-year where I met girls from dozens of other countries and realising how much higher my SMV is outside of Australia. The other part is being on RVF and seeing all of you out there doing good things. And I also felt like I'm punching below my potentials.

So far I've achieved:

- Move to a centrally located apartment, cut down on daily travels, increase walking, save commute time for getting more done, great locations for dates and closing
- Fix my long term injuries and bring my lifting to the next level. I've been hitting regular PBs at the gym and in competition for months. Now I feel like I can achieve numbers previously I didn't even dream of, e.g 3.5x BW deadlift, 3xBW squat... Of course I have much to do before I can get them.
- Learn Spanish, I can handle basic conversations now
- Learn several new work-related skills, master some of them to a great degree that usually would take someone several years, which leads to...
- Transform what I do at work and bring my profile up in the industry, which leads to...
- New job (poached, old work tried to offer more to get me to stay) to lead one of the top tech teams in my field in this country, which will raise my profile to an international level. And I will also get to travel to many countries as part of it. This is while others in my field are struggling to find any work.
- Learn basic investments and start a small portfolio
- Create a significant cash flow
- Track all my expenses
- Track and manage todo lists for productivity
- Cook most of my meals
- Save more than 50% (now more than 2/3) of my takehome pay
- Regular reading
- Learn a new dance style
- And many more little habits which help all of the above and more

Most importantly, I'm building up a strong momentum to be location independent and eventual early retirement.

In achieving all of the above, I also found that the whole "chase your goals and women will chase you" isn't necessarily true. This second half of 2014, despite being the best for everything else in my life, is also the worst for women that I've ever had since discovering Game. It's mostly because of the lack of quality I see around me (my standards have risen since I knew what I can get overseas), my lack of patience, and lack of time to play the game. Anyway, it will be a temporary dip for the sake of my investments in the future.

I'm looking at some major achievements in 2015, can't wait to get started! Well actually I'm already getting started by planning my first couple of weeks back from the holidays so I'll hit the ground running.

- Found a new job
- took the courses necessary and got the tickets to progress in my trade
- increased my hourly wage by 44% based on my experience and qualifications
- built a small but solid cash balance, still growing with every paycheque
- cut my living expenses by 23% (while increasing income), and have generally become far more spendthrift

All in all an essential forward step forward from 2013 which was a necessary stepping stone.

At Dec 2014 I am better off than Dec 2013.

I've taken a bit of a hiatus from the forum, just busy with life, but I'll give this a shot.

-Accepted a job and moved to Asia. Yes, I work for the man, but it's a dream job. Work...isn't work. And oh, what a feeling it is when you make up every morning excited and motivated for the day. Additionally, the pay and living situation is top notch. Work pays my rent for a beautiful apartment, and living in Asia, about 3/4 of my pay is spent on travel and retirement. I'm living the dream today, while being prudent about living the dream tomorrow.

-Developed even stronger bonds with my family and friends. The less you see the people that really matter, the more you appreciate them. I've also noticed that there is more openness and rawness in the conversations I have with my close friends and my parents. There isn't the time or need anymore to skirt around the truth.

-Kicked off 2014 in Tel Aviv. Spent a long weekend in Austin. Checked out Hong Kong a couple of times. Got some good diving and terrible partying in on Bali. Had a weekend in BKK. Hell, I moved to Vietnam.

-Figured out how to use my credit score to my advantage to rack up FF miles and fly long haul routes in business or first class.

-Bought a bicycle and use it as my main mode of transport.

-Read some high quality non-fiction. Namely:
Guns, Germs, and Steel

Things You Accomplished in 2014

In 2013 I lived in China and Thailand for most of the year. In 2014 I went back home and got a job, so I was pleased that I could take a year out and then get back into mundane life. This doesn't sound much, but a friend of a friend went travelling as I did, came home last year then couldn't re-integrate into society.

In 2014 I had an online money making disaster, but compensated by working my savings harder my signing up to loads of P2P lenders. Some of my cash is now earning 13% instead of 0% in my bank account.

I had yet another job related disaster in 2014, but that lead me to discover my Myers Brigg's personality is INFJ (the rarest type) which pretty much explains every part of my life to date. Go and find yours if you don't already know it.

In 2015 I will do a lot of personal development. INFJ's have some interesting talents, and I need to explore this aspect of my life.

I also intend to go travelling again, and I've signed up to do my basic 120hr TEFL course, and will attend a few open days about other courses.

Lastly I need to shift a few lb's. When I got my Chinese body check in 2013 (to get the visa) the docs noticed I had a mildly fatty liver. So I'm cutting the booze, and also trying out the paleo diet. The diet is going well, especially as I don't really have a sweet tooth and paleo foods pack so much natural flavour. When combined with exercise this would be an awesome diet.
