My brother has his own business.
And the way he got coached to dodge bans due to speeding was to say that if he didn't have a car - he would have to lay people off.
That strikes me as the only tactic that might work. If you can make it sound plausible.

You file a discovery request. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some court form that covered speeding ticket discovery.
Re: time and effort - it's all a waste of time. The nearly $400 speeding ticket I got out of wasn't worth the time I put into it per my billing rate.

These strategies generally work well. Most often if you don't automatically accept, and decide to challenge, you'll win. However............it all depends on the judge. If it is a small town and the officer and judge know each other well, a corrupt judge might hang you no matter what you do. But judges are also bored and like attention and they are real people too, meaning they might just let you off because you showed up and he got to see another new person etc. But whatever you do, don't piss the judge off. Figure out his style and see if you can adapt to it. Always be respectful, and kiss ass without being too obvious about it, and be serious when necessary but also have some personality.
I recommend everyone have experience in court. If you haven't court watched etc you should absolutely do it. You'll learn a lot and also be comfortable should you find yourself in a position where you're the one having an issue decided.
But generally, fight these things on your own. Anything else, you better lawyer up, and with a good one. It makes all the difference. The court system isn't about the law but about the relationships between the lawyers and judges etc. That's the truth and it will remain that way for quite awhile.

I just got ticketed 310$ today for the below:
1) I am parked on the road on a residential street, facing one direction. I had to go the other direction so I make a 180 degree turn. What I did was turn, reverse a little and then complete the turn.
( side note: is this considered a U turn? or is a U turn where you completly do a 180 degree turn without stopping to reverse).
This is all happening in a 30 km/hr school zone where the regular speed limit is 50 km/h when not during school time.
2) Cop stops me and charges me for the U turn and " not wearing my seatbelt" . At this point I am confused and slightly dazed as this is the first time this has happened to me.
3) He asks me if I have ever gotten a ticket. I truthfully respond "no". He responds with " well now you have 2"
I assume I should follow what is said in this thread about speeding tickets and apply it to my circumstances. Anyone else have other suggestions. Im in Alberta, Canada by the way.

What today made me realize is that I finally understand why people hate cops. I used to be one who "supported" cops vs supporting fake victims. Now I just dont care, to each his own. Why support the police state and their money printing machine. At the minimum if youre going to fine me, make it something reasonable, not 155$ for each ticket.
It's funny that they are doing their duty right now, but in my negihborhood, Ive had my tires slashed, windshield spray painted ( along with 10 other cars). The convenient store where this happens gets robbed like 2x a month at least and these cops cant do shit about any of that, but they will ticket people for alleged minor infractions. The place got robbed of some cigarettes and cash but it had a tracking chip, the cops swarmed the place and helicopters were involved yet they couldnt find the thief. What a joke.
I hate how people think this is a free country, a place where you can get criminally charged for anything. This is one thing I love about the "3rd world". I can do whatever I want, with good conscience, as long as I am not hurting anyone else. Even if I get stopped for not wearing a helmet while riding a scooter, it's a minor fine, not something outrageous.
Eff the police state.

In Australia I recall getting fined about $150 for going 4km/h over the limit on a road with no marked limit which was deliberately very low. But it's for safety right? I also suffered a total fine north of $500 for misreading a bullshit-complicated parking sign with about 4 clauses (was about 5 times as long as it was wide) that got my car towed.
But democracy is the best system, right?
Just "don't break the law", right?
When some cocksucker robs you of hundreds of dollars with a trap or "victimless crime", you're in the wrong, right? It's not that he's simply an armed bandit in a blue costume or anything.
Amen on the 3rd world being the new "free world". The 1st world is rapidly approaching the "freedom" of Iran. Hell, I no doubt one day Iranians or Chinese will say "well at least we don't live in Australia".

I hate that sometimes fight bullshit tickets is not financially suitable.
They should allow you to recover attorneys fees like in civil cases.
I'm the king of tickets, and have to keep my record clean for coast guard reasons, so I always get out of them, and it costs.
Smaller things are what make me mad.
I got a ticket for not curbing my wheels. This is a new thing in Hawaii. My lawyer showed me how curbing my wheels forces me to violate the parking close to the curb rule.
But, to pay him to present this is just stupid. Its $39. For me to go down there and explain it to the judge is just not worth my time. Thus, they just get my money.
Aloha!

bloody hell, those 2 tickets I received are all I have been thinking about since I got them. It's taking a toll on my emotional and mental wellbeing, and before anyone calls me a pussy on it, anything that hurts me financially is a big deal. I'm a recent graduate with student debt plus my parents are eventually going to find out about this due to my car insurance increasing, plus I will probably get 4 demerit points.
It's crazy how something so little can screw you over so badly.

Last year I was pulled over speeding on the way to work. 70 in a 55.
I hired a lawyer. Mine was a good one, and was more expensive.
All in all, I ended up with ticket dismissed. Not on my record.
The lawyer's fees, court costs etc. were around $1000. I calculated it would be roughly the same as paying the fine and increased insurance rates
There are other, less expensive lawyers in your area. Also, this is the Capital region, were everything is three times what it would cost when you get back to America.
I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters all the same. They love being dominated.

I had my license suspended and a court date for a speeding ticket and failure to appear.
Would have cost me 1400 plus accepting the charges so increase in insurance plus points on my license and a misdemeanor on my record.
Instead I hired a lawyer for 500 who got my license reinstated and pushed the court date out a couple months and he will try to fight all charges and get everything dismissed if not reduced. Money well spent.
I tried to fight a separate ticket a year ago and walked into a courtroom of 30+ people. There were only 4 cops in the room. I listened as person after person got their case totally dismissed/dropped cuz their cop didn't show up. Just my luck my cop actually showed up and I had to pay the ticket+court fees.
Fucking whole system is bullshit.

Got my first speeding ticket yesterday.
35 in 30. The cop said, "I can't not do anything, I already called it in. If you take this in, they'll probably throw it out."
Thanks for admitting you're wasting everybody's time, if only I had recorded that and play it when I go to court.

Does anybody know if minor speeding ticket without points (already went through court) does expire after few years or will I have to pay it next time I'm in Switzerland?

I just got caught an hour ago doing 120km in an 80km zone. I lost my license because I'm only 21 and still on my Ps in Australia. Minimum 3 month suspension. Need car for work though. So I've probably lost my job.

I used the delay as long as possible and then not plead not guilty route before and it worked.
I was issued a bs $500 ticket for trespassing when I was a young teenager and couldn't possibly pay it. So I kept postponing my court date which bought me about 6-7 months.
When the court date finally arrived, I showed up ready to present my case. Cop never showed, case was thrown out and I didnt lay a dime.
I don't know if id recommend this or do it again though. It really weighed on my mind and postponing was a huge hassle. I was simply broke at the time and it was my best option. Today I would have probably just payed it.

Do you need to prove a reason for delaying the courts? The date on my ticket is the day before I leave the country for 1.5 months, so I can't officially use the excuse of "I'm not in the country" lol.
But from doing a lot of research the delaying thing will be the best case, while building a case. HONAN is right though, this shit weighs on your mind. I dream about these tickets and that pig cop.

I mailed in my signed tickets over 3 weeks ago ( which means I plead not guilty). I have not gotten any response back from them yet. Not sure if should just let it be but my court date was listed for Nov 21 and Im leaving the country on Nov 22.
If they dont respond, I cant request the notes of the officer during the inicident nor proceed with any of the other suggestions listed above. I dont think I should call them, cause what if they just forgot and I remind them lol.
Knowing my luck however, my tickets probably got lost in the mail.

forgot what the appereance was for, all I know was that the officer said if you want to dispute come on this day ( Nov 21).
To clear up the matter, I am leaving on vacation for 1.5 months so yes, I will be coming back to my home in Canada.
Oh so the clerk has to schedule my trial after they recieve the tickets I sent in through the mail and then they would send me back a notice to me that it had been scheduled?
So if I dont say anything to them and Nov 21 passes by, wont I be charged with late fees then?
