No-Homo Skin Care Tips

I've been very careful with my skin for my whole life and it's made a big difference now I'm 40. My GF's have been in their 20's and don't care about how old I am because I look so young. I sometimes show them ID because they don't believe me.

A lot of things you do to make your skin look great are things you wouldn't think about. My tips for having great skin at any age:

Change your pillowcase every 2 days. Sleep on 1 side for a night, then flip it and sleep on the other side the next night, then change it. I have 8 pillowcase I am always rotating.

Don't sleep on your side, only sleep on your back. I used to sleep on my side, because it was much more comfortable this way for me. I used to sleep on one side only but then realized it was making my face look bad on that side, so I would take turns sleeping on each side but of course that would make both sides age prematurely by having your skin and muscles compressed and squished for 8 hours a day. Sleep on your side and look at your face when you wake up in the morning, it looks pretty bad. Your facial muscles and wrinkles will look much better if you only sleep on your back and your face is not compressed and can breathe.
Trust me, over time this makes a big difference. At first I had trouble falling asleep on my back, but after a few days I got used to it and my face looks way better this way. I wish I had done this many years ago.

Avoid going out a lot in bright sunny weather, it will kill your skin over time. If you have to, don't use sunscreen, use a BLACK umbrella, it will do a much better job than sunscreen on your face, and it will cover your neck also, plus you avoid all the chemicals. Whenever I am in South East Asia or somewhere else hot and sunny I always carry a BLACK umbrella with me where ever I go, against the sun and rain. I got a model that is small and light enough that I can put it in my cargo shorts pocket when I'm inside. Get this one, I did and it is absolutely tiny and weighs almost nothing. I don't go anywhere without it. You will not be able to live without it once you've got it.

http://www.fultonumbrellas.com/shop/wome...black.html

Always wear dark sunglasses whenever you can. It will protect your eyes and also your skin from squinting and the skin around your eyes will look much better. Even if it is cloudy, take them with you just in case. Using the above umbrella and sunglasses will also allow you to disguise yourself and hide if you have to.

Get a 10X magnifying mirror. I know most guys would never think of something like this, but once again trust me. I stayed at a hotel in Poland a few years ago that had one and once I got used to using it there, once I left I bought one right away and can't survive without one now. If you see your face up close and magnified 10x for the first time, you might be horrified at what you see, but once you clear up the mess you will look much better. Use the 10X mirror as your reference so that if you look good in that you will look amazing in reality. That' what I do. The best one I could find is this one below. It's perfect because it is small enough to travel with and comes with a pouch for that. It has built in LED lights that you can switch on and off if you need to use it in the dark, and uses AAA batteries. It comes with 3 suction cups that you can attach to a wall or mirror and had a retractable stand.

http://www.amazon.com/Danielle-D414-Ulti...or+lighted

Get a blemish removal tool and use it while looking in the above mirror to make your skin as clean and clear as possible. Avoid your fingers, a tool like the one in the link below will do a much better job of getting blackheads and whiteheads out while not making the skin around it red. Once again, I got this tool years ago and couldn't live without it now. It gets rid if blemishes with minimal effort and redness on the skin.

http://www.tweezerman.com/store/product/...care-tool/

Also get a pair of mini tweezers to get any extra hairs on your face out with the help of the mirror. Believe it or not the best tweezers I've found are the ones that come with some swiss army knives. If you go to a store that sells swiss army knives, just ask them for spare tweezers. They usually have them for $2 and last for years.

A lot of American and even European brands of men's cosmetics are garbage after comparing them to Asian ones. I've tried a lot of men's facial cleansers from different brands, and they were OK but nothing special. Strangely the best one I ever used was one and old Japanese GF left behind when she went back there. I was going to throw it out but decided to try it and it was the best one I ever used. I now swear by it and buy it at asian supermarkets. The asians take beauty much more seriously than the USA and even Europe, so they know what they are doing. This one is just an average Japanese brand product that sells for about $10 but it blew away the $30 European one I was using. I was my face with it twice in the shower every night. First time to get rid of dirt and 2nd time to make it absolutely squeaky clean. My face has never been better. You just need a little bit, it foams very well. Best part is that it is not feminine packaging. Try it, and you will hopefully swear by it like I do:

http://www.amazon.com/Shiseido-Sengansen...B001CC1VV2

I agree with a previous poster that tea tree oil does wonders for blemishes. I use it on my oily nose. I put no cream on it. Best of all its natural and works better than chemicals like alcohol and benzoyl peroxide.

Once a week in use the blackhead tool while looking in the magnifying mirror and get rid of all the blemishes that week has given me. Although my face looks red afterwards, I then shower and wash twice and put tea tree oil on it. Then I put polysporin OINTMENT on it and then sleep on my back and the next morning my face looks perfectly clear and not red. Don't pay for facials guys, just buy the tools I show above and do it yourself for nothing once a week and your skin will thank you.

If you do all the things I mention in this very long post, you will hopefully thank me. Do all these things consistently and you will look much better in the long run. Guys with great skin are rare and girls will notice it, trust me!

Interesting Will. I never thought about considering Asian face washes until now. I think people might feel that it's to complicated to keep their face looking great for as long as possible. If someone wanted a quick summary of what to do to keep their face in good shape...

- Wash it with a gentle, soothing face wash or bar in the morning so your face wont dry out.
- Use a "rougher" face wash at night time to get the dirt and shit out from all day.
- Use a facial mask once a week and put blackhead strips on your nose right afterwards when you see them coming out (I use them maybe every other month but I get bad blackheads on my nose)
- Use a gentle, aloe vera shaving cream and try to shave as little as possible so you're not irritating your skin.
- Always try to wear sunglasses in the sun to avoid eye wrinkles.
- Change pillowcases as often as possible. Flip your pillow over every night if you can't do it all the time, it's better than nothing.
- Use sunscreen or something for your face when you're gonna be outside all day. Don't be scared of the sun though. I've noticed it actually helps with back pimples and on my face when I get a nice tan.
- If you're staying somewhere with no face wash, just rinse it with hot water in the shower. Don't use a bar of soap or anything like that because you'll break out quick if you have a sensitive face.
- Rinse the sweat off your face after you get sweaty if you can't take a shower right away.

I think that's about everything.

That's all I use:

Two very basic and cheap products in Brazil.

Murumuru: fruit from the family of the coconut, grows in palmtrees.

The pure Murumuru butter: For the skin. If I don't forget, I use it after shower at night on my face. Great results.

The shaving soap: Get rid of foams and cans; especially for travelers this is something very practical. The soap lasts really long. The foam of the murumuru soap is somewhat thicker and more water resistant, thus enabling a smoother usage of the blades. I entirely abandoned Gillette or any brands of shaving foam/cream.

I've never experienced bacne, but have had facial acne for many years, and only now do I feel like I'm finally getting rid of it for good.

In your case, you probably haven't been doing anything differently as of late (correct me if I'm wrong). Have your pore sizes suddenly changed? Are you sleeping in filth? Probably not...

This leads me to believe, that in all cases of acne, it comes from within. So how to fix it? I have a few recommendations:

Vitamins/Minerals:
-Vitamin D: 5000 iu daily
-Fish Oil (High quality): 1-2 g of combined EPA/DHA daily
-Zinc (High quality): 30 mg daily
-Multivitamin (high quality)

To reiterate, make sure you are using high quality supplements or you're wasting your time and money. The reason I'm in favor of using vitamins/minerals to cure acne is that my skin is clearing up fantastically as of late and I am putting nothing on my face except water in the shower.

Another critical thing is to eat right which it seems liek you're doing. Keep it up! Veggies and fruits, moderate meat consumption, complex carbs etc.

Perhaps there is some external factor that is contributing to your bacne. In that case, make sure to change your sheets often and don't irritate the skin on your back with excessive products.

I would give that a try for a few weeks and I would be surprised if you didn't see some results.

btw this should work for everyone

I already said to go out in the sun with no shirt if you have back acne. It dries them up.

Tea Tree oil is the best product I've found to combat pimples, it usually helps to dry them and clear them up pretty quickly, or at least much quicker than if you don't do anything. I've been getting pimples a bit lately I think because I've started doing some BJJ and getting people putting their hands all over your face and getting smushed up against the filthy mat. Acne is a different thing I suppose, but I think so much of pimples is because you are not keeping your face clean enough, and washing it enough, I now always wash my face with hot water immediately after BJJ than wipe my face with desert essence tea tree oil pads. If you have back acne you got to spend more time washing your back in the shower, I know in the past I had occasionally been lazy and not washed my back when showering, but your back gets sweaty and funky too.

Yesterday I was at an outdoor event during the day time and I was amazed by in the day light how I could see so many people's true skin health. So many women with mega pimples, and fucked up skin, then they go and try to hide it by caking on a bunch of make up which just exacerbates the problem and keeps them in a constant cycle of bad skin.

I think so much of your skin health is tied to your diet and lifestyle, I'm not surprised when a girl's skin breaks out and she gets a bunch of pimples when she eats nasty fast food like Taco Bell, drinks soda like Dr. Pepper, smokes cigs, doesn't excercise, etc. You want nice skin, you got to eat a healthy balaned diet with fruits and veggies, drink a lot of water, use the right facial care products, not put a bunch of nasty synthetic chemical shit on your face. Wash your clothes, sheets, pillow cases, talk on speaker when on cell phone, etc.

I'm pretty religious about my skin care regiment and have been taking it to the next levels, one quick tip I will share with you is to moisturize your skin with essential oils. Instead of using a moisturizing cream, which I still recommend, mix an essential oil a couple times a week, I currently using pure organic avocado oil, but there are a bunch of other great ones that work really well I'd recommend.

How often do you use avocado oil? What other oils do you use?

What is a common "mixture" that you would make?

Thanks

I have been using avocado oil for about 3-4 weeks now, when I saw it marked way down on sale and thought I would give it a try, since then I have used a few other oils as I've been getting the fat hook up on skin care products. I use the avocado oil about once a week, sometimes twice and usually try to use it after I shave and my pores are open.

I recommend using it after a shower or shave, but try to put it on a few hours before bed and note that it will make your face look oily, wet, shinny, so probably not great for daytime use. A little seems to go a long way, but I tend to apply it pretty liberally, and it can get on and stain your clothes and sheets so be careful. Ofcourse you could always take a paper towel and wipe the excess oil off after some time, but I prefer to give it a few hours at least to let the maximum amount to absorb into my skin.

I've since tried on a few occassions a few other oils, rose hip, argan, and tamanu. Tamanu is probably my favorite along with avocado oil, but they all work well and I hear great things about argan oil. There are tons of other essential oils that are great for your skin, jojoba, sea buckthorn, shit I bet even coconut oil or even a little bit of extra virgin olive oil can be good to apply to the skin for moisturizing benefits.

At some point I might drop a new skin care thread where I share new tips, but I hope this helps for now.

Thanks for the tips ! Seth_rose ill definately try the vitamins and minerals stuff you mentioned. I already change my sheets/pillow cases weekly, and no, i dont live in filth hah.

Ill also try to go to the beach more.. sometimes the water helps dry them out too and like houston said that combined with the sun.

Giovonny I have some on my face but its mainly just along my jaw line.. kindof dont mind it too much right now. No really awful breakouts or anything im just mainly concerned about it on my body right now. And i usually workout with my shirt off, and if not its always a clean shirt

For the shaving section, which shaving gel/creams would you recommend? You said avoid ones with additives etc but i don't know which products don't have them.

One thing that lets me down is my shaving. I seem to have the most sensitive skin possible; I shave with a sharp manual razor (i buy the pricier ones hoping to get a better shave) after a shower, shave with the grain, only going over the same area once, not pressing too hardly on my skin, and pretty much everything else you should do but (without sounding retarded) i still seem to cut my skin when shaving!

$300 worth of Botox or Dysport. You won't need much since you won't want them to freeze your whole forehead.

That'll last you 6-9 months.

It's better to use small doses of botox before you get lines and wrinkles.

I do the pillow thing, but sleeping on my back is such a challenge. I'm lying there for 30 minutes and I haven't even fallen asleep. I've tried and tried but I just can't sleep on my back. So what I do is just look at my face and see which side has better/worse skin. The side where the skin is in better condition is the side I sleep on, so the side with worse skin has a chance to improve.

Skin care tips - there is good information to help you feel and look healthy. Do you have recurring acne or eczema, pimples, blackheads or cold sores? Did you inherit sensitive, oily or dry skin? Perhaps you are simply looking for tips in finding a grease less moisturizer or how to get rid of wrinkles.

First determine your skin type beauty arrangementen

Oily:

o most common in teenagers because of hormone shifts in adolescence

o prone to acne, blackheads, whiteheads and pimples

Tips:

o use oil-free moisturizers to maintain a shine-free complexion

o keep skin very clean

o needs special cleansing with hot water and cleanser to prevent pores becoming clogged

o avoid harsh products that strip natural oils

Dry:

o tight, rough feel and dull appearance

o problems caused by wind, extremes temperatures and air-conditioning

o ages more slowly

Tips:

o wash face with a cleanser once a day - preferably in the evening

o rinse thoroughly

o pat dry with a soft towel - rubbing can irritate

o in the morning just splash cool water or apply a moisturizer

o baths and showers - every other day or less

o avoid using products that contain alcohol which can cause irritation

There are cleansers available which help reduce bacteria on the skin. There are alcohol-free toners that protect against environmental elements that can further dry the skin.

Combination

Most of us have this type, an oily area or T-zone across the forehead, nose, and chin with dryness on the cheeks. Ideally, one product for each of the areas would work but this is expensive and unnecessary. A simpler way is to use a cleanser for the central oily panel and dilute it with water for the drier areas. You may want to experiment a bit as the dry areas may not need as frequent moisturizing.

Tips

o control oiliness in problem zones to prevent breakouts

o keep cheeks well moisturized

Find good cleansing gels with a fusion of botanical extracts of aloe vera, sage, chamomile, vitamin A & E and essential oils. This is a product that will nourish and leave the skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

Sensitive

o thin or fine-textured and prone to allergic reactions

o reacts quickly to both heat and cold

o sunburns and windburn easily

o irritated often by temperature changes, some detergents, cosmetics and alcohol used on the skin

o may be red and blotchy, with visible surface veins

Tips

Use mild baby soap on the face, rinsing thoroughly and pat dry using a soft towel. Don't use makeup or perfume in case of a reaction without first trying it on the inside of the wrist.

Tips for Care of Normal Skin

Keep it clean using a products that may be fortified with effective antioxidants. The combination of vitamins A, C, and E and green and white tea makes this a perfect addition to any anti-aging routine.

Mature skin

o becomes rougher

o develops lesions such as benign tumors

o becomes slack

o becomes more transparent with age

o becomes more fragile with age come together

o becomes more easily bruised
Tips

o use a moisturising cream both day and night

o drink a lot of water every day

o avoid sun damage

o a short walk daily is good for circulation and encourages the transport of oxygen to all cells of the body

There are products that cater to the older person. Enjoy a good cleansing skin care regimen which contains UV filters that improve the skin's defences against the elements. Complement this with an anti aging product developed to fight wrinkles and other fine lines.

My father is almost 50 and looks around 32 or so. I hope I get his luck...

"Christian love bears evil, but it does not tolerate it. It does penance for the sins of others, but it is not broadminded about sin. Real love involves real hatred: whoever has lost the power of moral indignation and the urge to drive the sellers from temples has also lost a living, fervent love of Truth."
