For those with constant annoying adult acne, hope this helps ..

Isotretinoin/Accutane - I've come across this supposed miracle acne drug before, but was always put off by the horror stories you read online. This year I decided to finally get my skin sorted and took the risk - I've been taking a low dose (20mg) a day for 4 weeks now. It stop's your skin producing too much oil which for most people is the main cause of acne. My skin is now looking the best is has in a long time [Image: blush.gif]

My acne has never been terrible but was persistent and would always flare up at the worst times! For now I am also using a salicylic acid peel once a week, 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream at night and a light moisturizer in the day which I think is helping too (though I used all this before, without accutane, and results were mediocre).

I also drink plenty of water, have a good diet and change pillow cases fairly regularly. The blackhead removal tool recommended earlier is also very useful. Wish I'd done all this years ago!

Haha, I did exactly the same last year and wished I had done it five years ago[Image: dodgy.gif]

I am not sure what your dermatologist told you, but I was explicitly told not to use any aggressive creams (e.g. any kind of acid or BPO) while on Isotretinoin due to an increased risk of scarring (as Isotretinoin substantially thins the skin). Please be careful!

I would start with prescription retinol (tretinoin) first as botox is a more serious commitment. I've been using 0.5% strength tretinoin for almost a month, and my fine lines are disappearing fast. It'll take up to six months to start noticing real results. Check out before-and-after photos of people who have used it. Definitely noticeable, and it also increases collagen in your face plus makes your pores shrink.

I've been using 0.5% Tretinion since February and the fine wrinkles are disappearing as well as overall improved consistency of the skin. I also wash my face (and body) with African black soap during the morning shower and use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream after the shower. Before bed, I'll wash my face with CeraVe Hydrating Skin Cleanser before using the Retnol. The Derm recommend a hydrating soap before applying the cream. I think my skin is looking better, I had some darker spots before that appear to be lightening for a smoother look. I also aim for drinking a gallon of water a day and that seems to have tightened up the skin.

Valkryie, san miguel, I concur with what you have said

I took accutane/isotretinoin for 7 months and finished about a month and a half ago. By about the fourth month my face was completely clear. Literally cleared up 90% of my acne. I still have scars all over my back but fuck, its better than have red pimples that would explode from time to time. Drastically improved my life with women, work, confidence, everything.

I too, wish I had taken this five years ago. But hey, heres to the future. Also, watch out drinking excessively on it (although I got shitty about once a week while taking it). Skin gets extremely dry always. Since I have completed the treatment I still occasionally use chapstick but not 5x a day like I was before. I didn't use any product on my skin during treatment other than trader joes body wash once a day on my face.

Keep in mind there are some serious side effects for some people on the drug, just, as of yet I have had very few. I had occasional knee pain as it seemed as though my cartilage in my knee cap was "drying up" but haven't thought about that in about two or three months.

Guys, any help with eye bag?

My skin is ok, but I work 9-5 in front of two screens. It's wreaking havoc on my under-eyes and I have developed eye bag lines. This is pretty serious at 25 years old.

I've done all I can: reduce luminosity, use Flux, keep my distance from the screen. but how to make the eye bag go away?

Going to bump this thread:

Since last Thursday I've been having issues with my skin.

I started becoming really itchy all over my body, which would leave large red patches afterwards.

This started becoming the norm after a regular shower hot or luke warm.

My chest would become super red and itchy.

I thought maybe it's the body wash or bar soap, I didn't use that for 2 days, still got red patches and itchyness.

I thought it might be my hair product or the water I was using. I stopped using my hair product, still same effects.

I took a shower at the gym, same shit happened.

Typically after a shower it starts with redness/itchyness on my chest and other parts of my body.

It goes away after 30 minutes or so - however I still get itchy parts on my body throughout the day.

Also I noticed the top of my biceps near my shoulder get bumps that look like this:

NOTE: This is not my picture, mine is a milder form of this with a handful of bups lie

[Image: 648x364-Heat_Rash-miliaria_crystalline.jpg]

Another thing, my feet get really bone deep itches and so do my hands.

I'm wondering if it's hives, allergy reaction, or something else ?

It's strange that it just started last week and I don't know what it could be.

I haven't really ate anything out of the ordinary either.

Best remedy is healthy living/sleep of course.

But some other remedies which have helped me are freezing cucumber slices and then putting them on my eyes for 15-20 minutes. This actually works.

You can also buy collagen eye pads from Amazon which you can put on your eyes but they didn't work as well for me.

These supplements also work really well, although you have to take 6 pills a day. These pills stimulate collagen production in your body which makes all aspects of your skin better, and I've noticed my eye bags go down too:

Thanks Silverfox for the update.

I just completed six months of 0.5% tretinoin. No joke, I look five years younger at least. I also started taking Propecia at the same time, so that helps quite a bit.

My wrinkles have vanished, pores shrunk, developed better complexion and dewier skin, my frown lines are reduced. It's clear this stuff works.

I put it on every other night, now it's almost every night. Recently I've started using tretinoin one night and Tazorac 0.1% the other night. Tazorac is a synthetic retinoid that targets slightly different parts of the skin cell. It's supposedly as good as tretinoin, but using them interchangeably could do more. We'll see, however I've developed some dry skin since using Tazorac.

To conclude: this stuff works based on my experience, it's obviously clinically proven to work, it's cheap, easy to use, does not require any surgery or expensive out-of-pocket costs. Side effects are minimal, e.g., some dry skin in the beginning. You have to wear sunscreen if you use tretinoin as it increases your skin's photosensitivity. If you're over 30 and are starting to notice your skin aging, then in my opinion this should be your first step.

Have you checked this: Cholinergic urticaria

Your physical symptoms looks similar, as does some of the triggering signs. These itchy bumps may be a reaction to sudden changes in heat or sweating. Try cold showers for a few days and report back.

Disclaimer: I'm a physical therapist, not a doctor. As such I recommend you visit a good doc and undergo an allergy test.

Darian, I ended up not being able to sleep last night because of intense scratching.

It felt like tiny little things were crawling all over my body.

I said fuck it and went to urgent care this morning.

They told me it's more than likely heat rash, it's the body's own histamine reaction to something.

I explained all my systems in detail along with pictures I took.

They ended up giving me a shot in hip/ass, fuck that wasn't fun for a few minutes lol.

It was a steroid shot, then they gave me a prescription for a topical cortisteoird when I break out.

They also gave me a script for Zyrtec, but I already have Benadryl so I'll take 25mg before working out and 25mg before bed.

This shit was just weird and random, I'm hoping it'll go away now.

I stopped washing my face with anything other than water (previously used black soap), and my skin has never been better.

I tried going no shampoo, but it's been rough. After a few days my hair was getting really greasy and clumpy, so I tried using a bit of baking soda. That only seemed to make it worse, so I tried lime juice, which didn't help much. My scalp also started to itch, so I tried putting on some tea tree oil, which helped but only temporarily.

I finally broke down and used a shampoo soap bar (doesn't have the detergents or sulfates that are in a lot of shampoos), and that seemed to solve my issues. A tiny bit of coconut oil balanced out the dryness.

Does using the shampoo soap mean my hair grease won't eventually even out like those of you who go no shampoo? I don't see any other options at this point.

_______

Good luck Kaotic. Have you tried using tea tree oil on those itchy spots?

Pee in a glass bottle and let it sit for a few months with the bottle cap loosened. Go outside and apply the aged urine to your body and let it absorb. It will smell strong.

This is the all time best way to treat your skin. It has been used in India since ancient times. Its a super model beauty secret. Aged urine is like a super vitamin and also a skin relaxant.

I have done it myself a couple times and highly recommend it. This technique requires an outdoor shower afterwards. It is the undisputed healthiest thing there is for your skin.

I wonder if anyone on here is going to actually try this? Sounds interesting, but don't think I will be giving it a go.

I had that for about 1-2 months a while ago, in the spring. Very similar.

I couldn't run without itching.

It helped when I drank a lot of water, and I guess having that for a long time made me calmer as a person, because I could not get angry or panic without the bumps happening.

Hey OG. Start searching natural Indian medicine and uses for urine. It is popular in India. My family lived there when I was little.

Basically in our mothers wombs we float suspended in liquid, and its mostly urine. It is completely sterile.

In the civil war aged urine was used for dysinfecting surgical tools for medical operations in the field. It is incredible stuff.

Im telling you super models secretly bath in their own aged urine. It is something they will not admit to but I think Marilyn Monroe admitted to using it.

It is the healthiest thing on earth for treating the skin.

I always had oily and acne-prone skin. Regularly broke out on my upper back, just as the previous acne had healed. Face has been largely stable since I turned 22, apart from single zits now and then. Been through many sorts of creams, shampoos and what have you since I was 14.

In the last year I found what works for me (finally).

Dietary: Eliminate sugar and empty carbohydrates. If there's sugar in the foodstuff you're eating (fruit, ketchup) that's okay. Candy, chips, cookies? Nope. Sugar drives inflammation and acne is inflammation. Every time you eat sugar, imagine you're feeding disgusting and growing acne cysts.

Hygiene/showers: Wash your face with water only. For your body, use tar soap and a natural mousturizing soap of your choice; I'd recommend something like a honey/oats blend or goat's milk soap.

Why tar soap? It's been used for centuries for various ailments, particularly in Scandinavia. It's anti-septic, doesn't dry your skin, and depending on your taste, it smells great. You will smell fucking manly using tar soap; not like the smoking embers of a camp fire, more like a blend of trees and fertile earth. Not overpowering, just a hint. The first 10 days after using tar soap once day, my back had cleared up 75%.

After scrubbing your body with tar soap, you build up a nice fat lather with the goat's milk or honey/oats blend. This fat will seal in moisture.

After the shower, use a non-comedogenic moisturizer on your body and face. Non-comedogenic means it won't clog your pores.

Done. It all takes 10 minutes from the time you turn on your shower to applying the last dab of moisturizer.

Tar Soap (non-affiliate Amazon link)

Goat's Milk Soap with Honey & Oatmeal (non-affiliate Amazon link)

Moisturizer (non-affiliate Amazon link) <The one I use, it's great.

Lastly, an old proverb from Finland:

Quote:Quote:

If booze, tar or the sauna won't help, the illness is fatal.

Hope this helps my fellow brothers with over-active sebum production.

Im currently having a problem where i just have constantly flakey and sometimes red skin around my forehead as well as chest and shoulders.

I try exfoliating my foreheard which just makes the redness of my head worse. I tried putting Vitamin E cream on it to stop it being so dry but It just gets dry and itchy again.

Its annoying the hell out of me.

The best thing I have ever done to improve my skin (used to get regular white heads and red inflammations) is to cut out sweet sugary food, drastically reduce added sugar intake in all foods (fruit is always ok).

Sugar in something like Tomato Ketchup is just about ok. Chocolate ice cream is not. So if dining out I never eat desert. When eating at home again I don't eat sweet food and grab a piece of fruit instead.

After about 4 weeks I noticed a lot less white heads but still the occasional flare up.

After about 8 weeks no more white heads and skin is noticeably better with red marks practically gone

Around 24 weeks skin should be perfect with no sign of red marks

To see a difference take a photo of your face on day 1. You need to stick at it for at least 8 weeks. Then take another photo. The difference will be obvious.

I had tried lots of difference creams, scrubs, topical treatments but they never got the problem sorted, most of the time they made things worse.

In terms of direct skin care I now wash face with Cetaphil quickly once in the evening. In the morning I take a shower and just rinse my face in warm (not hot) water.

I might give this a go MrTickle, my skin just never seems to lose its redness and any external treatment is just obviously going to be a band aid for a deeper underlying issues.

How extensive is it? Sounds like its possibly seborrheic dermatitis. Google image that and see if it looks similar.
