Which brand of black soap are you guys using? How are you applying it? Can black soap replace a facial cleanser?

http://www.gll-getalife.com/get-style/en...ap-for-men

Use it like a normal soap. Rub it all over your body.

It depends what you are using a facial cleanser for. I've never used a facial cleanser (besides water) so I'm not sure.

I use a cleanser for acne prevention/treatment. Can the black soap do the job instead?

Try it out, let us know.

I am post-acne but here's a few tips that got me past it:

-Controlled sun exposure with no sunscreen
-Increased face washing (I wash my face a few times during the day after using the toilet)
-Decreased shaving
-Clean diet
-HOT STEAMY showers especially on your face

I'll post this link again because I'm about to do the face mask and I think this is the best routine:

Why is everyone singling out cold water as good rather than warm or hot?

One of things that helped me with Acne, is diet.

No Dairy
No Red Meat or at least reduce it..

I was Vegan for a year and it changed my system big time. I know alot of people knock the lifestyle on here, but give it a try before you knock it.

Oh and I use Black Soap...

I've heard about no dairy, might give it a try but whey is a big part of my diet...

^Dairy creates a lot of mucus in your body.

There is plenty of information online you can read about the downside of dairy and form your own opinion.

I also believe the meat/protein thing is overblown, just my opinion though.

You have any studies to back that up?

I use to read this site awhile back ago called notmilk.com and it had some interesting facts.

Everything is part of an industry, the main goal is to make money. Remember that silly drink milk campaign and right now they have one telling people to drink chocolate milk after working out.

In terms of the mucus, I believe it is related to Cancer. I try to eat foods that have the right PH balance, most of it is green veggie food and not the most appetizing.

My face is sometimes so oily that when I wake up in the morning I can feel the oily grease on my face so moisturisers are out of the window as that just adds to the grease until I remove it. My face has blemishes and lots of spots you can't notice unless I go up really close to a mirror and count. I think 99% of them are gone anyway now I'm not a child. When I was 16 all hormonal it was really bad. I had 50 or more spots but they weren't red and off-putting or large, they blended in with my complexion like a darker shade and girls said these spots made me more attractive for some reason.

I use this in the morning and night in order to clean my face then remove spots and blemishes.

Once I've done, I can moisturise my face and hands if they get dry.

I was told that white people can't use this, and I'm not sure if they were being racist. It's good anyway.

^^ Isn't Nivea a bit heavy to use on your face?

Palmers is good stuff, I would just use Coconut Oil instead and save money.

Nivea Cream doesn't damage yout face. Just don't use too much at once as it goes in your pores. The small tub lasts for months.

Nivea creme is highly comedogenic. Wouldn't recommend that for those who are breakout prone or have naturally oily skin.

I tried eating little to no dairy for a month or two and didn't notice any difference in acne. I am currently eating diary again and it hasn't gotten worse. I have heard that this works for some people though, do it for a few months and gauge your results.

Also, for me, I feel like when I eat a lot of fruits I break out a lot. The natural sugars just fuck my skin over. Same as when I eat candy.

Regarding acne, not sure if was mentioned before but when I had acne at the time, Echinacea root tea did wonders for me.

Don't sleep on your side, only sleep on your back . . . Sleep on your side and look at your face when you wake up in the morning, it looks pretty bad. Your facial muscles and wrinkles will look much better if you only sleep on your back and your face is not compressed and can breathe.

Agree. Takes some training but can be achieved.

-Retin-A takes several (4-6) weeks of consistent use to get dialed in. In the interim, users will suffer from redness, flaking, dryness, sensitivity. These symptoms will subside as new layers of healthy skin replace old layers and all the facial skin cells start dividing at the same time. You must have faith and power through (especially weeks 2 & 3, which are the worst) the caustic phases, as Retin-A is arguably one of the best anti-aging products for your skin. If it is very irritating at the outset, application can be titrated in 2-3x per week (instead of daily) in the beginning.

Retin-A often makes your skin worse before it makes it better. If you stop applying, the skin once again becomes sensitive to it, and you need to through the 'bad' stages yet again. So if you ever want to see benefit from it, you need to 'commit for life' so to speak. Yet if it really irritates your skin, you have to stop using, or you'll really damage yourself. So like you said, you're in for a struggle with this thing.

You need to religiously avoid the sun as well (once again, now and forever). While it's highly recommended to avoid sun on your face anyway, with Retin-A the damage will be 10 fold and much more immediate. You can stop applying 'before summer' for example, but once you start applying again ('after summer'), you'll need to go through the adjustment period yet again.

Retin-A is really a double edged sword. Do you research well and consult a doctor. Some people do swear by it though so you can consider giving it a try, knowing the above and being extra careful with it.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas,

I woke up with HORRIBLE under eye wrinkles.
I searched through the last 4 pages of this thread since I only want the most updated info. What would you guys recommend for under-eye wrinkles?

Also, the Boots No. 7 sounds really convincing, but the link was dead. Is it still a product you guys vouch for?

Putting toothpaste on my pimples seems to dry them out. Works for me. Also now I dont use regular soap and lotion but utilise facewash and moisturisers.

Don't debate me.

The No7 range got renamed - it's now called "No7 Men Protect & Perfect Intense ADVANCED Serum"
I'm still using it, semi pricy but it's always on a 3 for 2 offer which can be stacked with other discount codes if you buy in bulk.

The eye cream from the same range is worth trying if your eyes are looking tired - will take a while to kick in, but noticeably reduced my smile lines. Don't expect miracles though.

The No7 moisturiser is fine but nothing special, especially given how much it costs - I'd recommend the much cheaper Boots Botanics one, at 1/5th the price.

I use the following:

1) Moisture twice a day.
For dry skin - best bet is Aveeno which uses oatmeal and is dermatologicaly tested and does actually work or E45. Both are typically recommended by dermatologists.
Otherwise - No 7 make a good moisturiser for more sensitive skin. Also OZ Naturals have some quality products including a sea infused herbal moisturiser with vitamin c, vitamin e and algae keratin extract. Vitamin C is apparently good for collagen building. Whether this actually works or not fuck knows as I don't think it's dermatologically tested.
2) Cleanse twice a day.
I use Clarins cleanser, but it's more expensive. Sometime I use a Waitrose natural cleanser or Clearasil. Really they all do the job.
3) Toner twice a day.
I use Clarins again. http://www.boots.com/en/Clarins-Cleansin...Skin_7257/
Both cleanser and toner I use with cosmetic cotton pads before washing down with cold water.
4) Exfoliator - twice a week.
Just rub a little bit of gel on your face. Again the usual companies do these Nivea (cheap), Clarins, No7 etc.
5) Under eyes - OZ Naturals, No7 have some good stuff for this to try to reduce the dark circles.
6) Scar care - if you have slight bruises or cuts anywhere I apply silicon gel Kelo Cote before going to sleep. It is scientifically proven to reduce scarring. One other one which is really good is Biafine, which is also good for burning and the like.
7) Concealer - If you want to take it to the next level you can buy some quality concealer if you have scars or want to hide any wrinkles on the face. Just make sure it closely matches your skin colour.
8) Lip balm - for cold sores/dry lips. Carmex seem to be the best of the mainstream brands for this. I regularly use it three plus times a day as my lips go very dry.

I think most of these are overkill. I second redbeard's recommendation for the Nubian black soap. The only things I use are shaving oil, soap, hyaluronic acid, and coconut oil. When I had acne, I was using tea tree oil until it cleared up. It's super simple. My routine is super simple and lately I've been getting tons of compliments on my complexion. Here's what I do:

1) Wet face, apply Somersets shave oil. It lubricates better than anything else I've ever used.
2) Shave with safety razor. Shaving is exfoliating by it's nature. Any exfoliant is unnecessary. The shave oil also has tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil, making it also an effective astringent and aftershave to boot.
3) Shower, use nubian black soap.
4) Apply hyaluronic acid. It's the molecule that retains skin moisture, and diminishes as we age.
5) Moisturize with coconut oil.

I'm post acne, and what worked for me was tea tree oil. I did some research into what actually causes acne, and I'm convinced it's due to demodex mites. Mites live in the pores of your skin. They have no colons, so when they die, they release bacteria which creates an inflammatory response in the skin, giving the well known red acne bump appearance. Their typical lifespan is 4 weeks. Tea tree oil kills them.

I used to wet my hands and face, then use a dropper to place 1 drop of 100% TTO on my palm, rub my palms together, and smear it on my face. It's potent stuff, so 1 drop is more than enough. My acne got worse the first 2 weeks (normal, the TTO was killing off the demodex mites, releasing more bacteria), but after a month I was pretty much completely clear. If you've got acne and tried everything already, give that a shot. 1 bottle is under $15 and should last a year or more.
