I try eating a shit load of food and drink before I go out, slows down the flow of alcohol to the intestines plus it helps you drink slower.

I'm going to see if this yeast thing works. I'm more interested in some kind of "miracle solution", which probably doesn't exist.

Stuff like eat more food, and drink water, are logical solutions, which are not exciting.

Being the borderline alcoholic that I am, I like to put on a show every time I go out drinking. This includes various games and chugging contests. Increasing my capacity without having to throw up food would be an excellent skill.

Currently sober, but I'll certainly experiment with the yeast next time I drink [maybe at the Derby parties], and I will report back.

"In 1986, Casciani et al at the University of Milan, studied the effect of glutathione on blood alcohol, acetaldehyde and hepatic triglyceride levels and found a significant reducing effect."

Heard about glutathione on Joe Rogan's podcast. Apparently it boots the liver's ability to break down alcohol. Could be worth a try.

Drink without getting drunk

I tried it out last night. In the hotel room before I went out, I put 3/4 oz yeast powder in yogurt and ate it. About 30 minutes later I was hoisting my first brew here. I drank the equivalent of about four 6% alcohol, 12-oz beers in 90 minutes. I should have been fairly inebriated when I left the venue, because I'm a lightweight and I had an empty stomach, but I only felt moderately buzzed.

I went back to the room and ate another yogurt with 3/4 oz yeast. I then went to the hotel bar and drank four martinis over about 90 minutes, then went to another bar and drank another two (double size) martinis and a shot of tequila over about two hours. I was fairly inebriated but not drunk, although I'm not sure that the yeast had the same effect as with the beer. I went to sleep about 2 a.m. I didn't lose my memory and I didn't have a hangover the next day.

I think the yeast neutralized 30% of the beer and 20% of the cocktail alcohol. It's kind of a pain because it doesn't taste very good so you probably need to carry some yogurt with you to mix it with to make it palatable. It didn't make me burp, but it did make me fart a lot and my breath was very yeasty.

Of course, it could be that my reaction was affected by psychological bias. So, I need to test it out more to see if I get consistent results.

I'm putting this in the game forum because it seems to me that being able to drink without getting drunk would help with game. I have cockblocked myself by getting too drunk on a number of occasions.

According to this article, right before drinking you should ingest several teaspoons of dry/active yeast such as you can buy in the grocery store. I believe Fleischmann's is a common brand of yeast in the US. According to the article, the yeast will sit in your stomach and help break down the alcohol before it goes into your blood stream.

Anyone know if this works or not? I'm going out this weekend and plan on trying it out to see what happens.

I'm a bartender and I have this trick to share with you guys.

The best cure for hangover/getting drunk is a hot cup of tea with honey and lemon/lime

As soon as you are feeling tipsy, prepare a steaming cup of tea with a teaspoon of honey and juice from a lemon/lime quarter. Finish it before continue drinking, and finish it hot. It will dissolve the alcohol in your system or help flushing it out.

I lost count of how many times I have to take care of drunk/disorderly customers or friends at party. This is like a magical healing potion.

We use a variation of this trick in some top-end bars to make people buy more drinks while still retaining the good taste.

Careful though, once you drink it you won't be able to sleep for the night.

I do lots of business in Asia and the drinking culture is huge there. It's considered very bad form to refuse drinks or not reciprocate doing numerous "bottoms up" shots with clients and partners. Non Asians get much more leeway, but being Asian, I don't have that luxury.

Learned this trick from a hostess girl: as soon as you sit down, finish a can of coke or bottle of beer down to the last 20%. Then when your partners inevitably make motions to "cheers", you do likewise and then spit the shot into the mostly empty container and make it look like you're chasing.

Guys never seem to notice although I've had several girls give me a knowing look. I like to drink as much as the next guy, but I hate hangovers and I don't see this as a waste of money so much as just the cost of doing business.

Lately I've been experimenting with drinking fresh vegetable juice from my Vita-Mix blender about 1-2 hours before I go out. The mix has the usual ingredients- honey, Greek yogurt, avocado, tomato, carrot, celery, kale, lime, apple, brussel sprout, cucumber, ginger root, broccoli, bell pepper, and cauliflower. I've found that when I do this, I don't get drunk as easily or as quickly. Also, if I do drink to excess, my hangover is much milder. Next time, I will try adding the dry yeast to the mix to see if that makes even more of a difference.

Being fat or big helps a lot.

As a scrawny guy, if I drink half as much as my chubby friend, I'll be twice as drunk.

McCarthy used to eat a ton of butter straight before drinking with reporters. They'd generally end up far more intoxicated than he.

On a side note, he died young, but it does work, I've tried it.

So in a nutshell, most of the suggestions are:
-probiotics (yogurt, yeast)
-vitamins and electrolytes, esp. vit C (fruit smoothies, tea with lemon, honey, etc)
-slowing down digestion rate (butter / fats, big meal before drinking)
-alcohol absorption (oatmeal / big meals again, activated charcoal)
-spit it out / pretend to drink
-get your girl to drink it instead

What's the point of drinking if you want to remove the effects of the alcohol? Just drink water and tell everyone it's vodka and lemonade, or coke and tell everyone it's scotch and coke. Personally, I would rather use antibiotics or some other form of medication to double the effects lol.

Drunk = Not giving a fuck

Not giving a fuck = confidence

Confidence = Women

This is if we're talking bar/club game. Obviously you don't want to get smashed on a one on one date.

I do vodka waters with a 2 lemon slices.

I then get water with 2 lemons, without vodka of course.

I switch back and forth, no soda used, no sugars, I stay hydrated but buzzed.

Drink without getting drunk

I've mentioned another way to drink less in my latest ROK article:

http://www.returnofkings.com/44965/5-rea...-on-a-date

Quote:Quote:

4. You Drink More

I’ve mentioned before that you can typically get up to five pours from one bottle. What if I told you that it could be stretched to 8-10 glasses?

All you have to do is pour less each time. I like to use two or three fingers to measure the height of the liquid in the glass. With practice, you don’t even need the fingers to measure, free pouring perfectly each time.

If anyone (like your date) asks why you are drinking so slowly, tell them you just like to take your time to appreciate the wine. Less liquid in the glass means you can swirl more vigorously, releasing more aromas. And why is everyone in a rush to drink? Why not slow down and have a good time? Smile confidently as you say this.

Make a game out of it. Teach her how to engage the senses. What colours do you see? What do you smell? What do you taste? How does it feel in your mouth (heh)?

5. You Drink Less

Most wines hover around 10%-15% alcohol by volume. Compare this to most spirits which regularly go over the 40% mark.

If you’re on a date, you don’t want to impair your judgement just because you’ve had one drink too many. Just one badly calibrated move can result in you scaring the cat. After a few shots of tequila, your calibration might be off. Is now the right time to go for the kiss? Have you built up enough rapport? Was that her licking her lips or just a nervous tic?

With wine, you are free to moderate your intake by pouring less (Tip #4, above), basking in that comfortable zone between mundane sobriety and total inebriation. Have a conversation. Flirt a little. Sit back, relax, and smell the rosés. There’s more to life and seduction than furiously banging out one-night stands in club bathrooms.

Drink without getting drunk

A lot of good suggestions here. Based on what I'm reading, I'm going to continue with the Vitamix vegetable/fruit brew before I go out and try adding 1/4-1/2 stick of butter and three packets of dry yeast. I'm also going to try adding a tablespoon of saffron and a tablespoon of turmeric, becuase I heard they help the liver more efficiently process alcohol. I'll report back on how it goes.
