I've lived about 3 years total in Russia, over multiple stints. I've had a variety of black friends in that time, including some Africans I hung out with regularly while living in a tier 2/3 city for six months.

In terms of night game a whole lot of them ran into the problem that they were the center of attention at clubs, and girls loved dancing with them and sometimes even made out with them, but they couldn't get the bang because the girls did not want their reputations tarnished by banging a black dude.

I don't believe there is a correlation between how hot/successful a women is and the level of exotic appeal for her. Women like what they like. Haha yeah Old Havana that's a fun spot for non white people, though there is a face control guy that sometimes gives brown people shit at the door if they don't come with girls. Lots of Turks there, the ratios can get pretty bad. Latino clubs overall were my bread and butter when I lived in Moscow. In retrospect I would have rather stuck to social circle game and international oriented events - that's where I met most of the girls I did well with. Getting wasted on weekends with an unreceptive crowd was a complete waste of time.

Nemencine just brought this to my attention and my initial thoughts are:

The Black guy in the videos has finally gotten what was coming to him. Before I read the last post where Roosh provided a video update about his legal troubles and possible deportation. I hate to say it but a guy like him was asking for it because he did not have enough tact, to understand his situation correctly. Some guys call it peacocking when guys dress flamboyantly, but any kind of attention whoring like that can cost you in the wrong location. I could easily have done what he did in China like he did Russia, but I knew better because that kind of attention is frowned upon in the East from a culture perspective, and would have cost me big in the end. Getting deported, means basically you will not have a chance to ever come back. All those years and time learning their language is GONE and WASTED! Unlike me, he doesn't have a Russian wife/family to protect him that either. I been learning Mandarin since 2005 since my first college level course. If I got banned from China that loss would be heavy for me. Not the end of the world, but still man..that would suck!

Unlike Roosh, he was unrefined and unsophisticated in his approach to appeal to Russians. Roosh I'm sure has made mistakes too, but one thing I noticed about him is that he makes serious adjustments on the fly and has grown VERY shrewd in the way he carries himself nowadays. Nowadays it can be harder to follow what he is doing on a day to day basis, but he is more popular than ever before. THAT is how to make adjustments. He could still catch a case, but his risk is alot less I would say.

Forget what we personally think about Condi Rice, at least she managed to appeal to them without showcasing any kind of wretched American style stuff, except the politics stuff. Being fluent in a language is actually useless without the deep cultural understanding to go along with it. While he seemed to understand their culture , it looked like it was only on a modest street level. Just because he is a well spoken Black American will not mean that he is intelligent enough to understand the cultural and historical realities around him.

The stuff about the black stereotypes and his hip hop image is something I would like to discuss in that thread with others to see what they think to. In my dating guide I am working on addressing this very same kind of thing. When you got any non-American people saying shit like Whats up my nigga, and all this nigga that, nigga this stuff, he is subconsciously pulling down himself and other black people worldwide. I do not buy that junk about that is just how Russian people call black people. In China they have a word to describe black people, "hei ren" (black people). Hei means black color, ren means person. You mean to tell me that in Russian language, black person is phonetically pronounced nigger? I don't buy it. If Chinese use that word around me, and I personally never had that experience, I would either correct them or leave them alone. When you enable that kind of stuff, you are making things worse. Teaching any kind of American Slang is bad enough to Easterners.

Them knowing that does not help them talk to everyday black people and everyday Americans. Standard English is more than enough for them. We do not need the rest of the world with our bad habits. They know nigger is an insult. They use that to embolden their own self esteem against any and all threats he presents against their tribal values as an outsider. The fact that he lets them makes them feel comfortable doing that around him is a false sense of security because while they "like him", they do not respect him in any way. Would a Russian in America like having a nickname of Lenin, Stalin, or Boris just because we think it is funny? Highly unlikely and if they did, no one would actually respect him for allowing it.

Black men should drop alot of this hiphop stuff when in certain countries. For one, hiphop as a culture is dead anyway (circa 2004 at the latest). Two, it makes you look like a clown and an entertainer. Everyone laughs at the disco guy stuck in the 70's. Someone not to be taken serious at all. Do any UK men with any class or self-respect dress like chavs? Running around in small places in China, locals would ask me if I was a doctor, a scientist, or something like that, because they said I looked like I was a very "highly educated" person. Turning the hip hop stuff into an identity hurt him in ways he may never understand, unless someone broke it down for him. Carrying yourself as a man with dignity is far more important first than you own individual cultural identity. I understand what he was trying to do, but it was a busted strategy from the get go. I personally enjoy teaching Chinese people I meet who somehow think Obama is the best black man to ever live in America, that guys like Frederick McKinley Jones invented refrigerated trucking or Charles R. Personal example of leading with the brash and following through with the humble:

I was in dorms once and I went to one of my British friends room. He was rooming with some Danish cat. The Danish cat was rather snobbish and gave me a look of disdain when I came in that late afternoon. It was warm and I think I had just come off from a hearty debate with some international Nigerian students. Hence, I was flushed and my vocal tones were a tad loud (an essential when debating with bonafide Naijas).
The Dane seemed annoyed at my presence but after a while of hearing me converse and running through an array of topics with the British friend, his body language changed and he eventually warmed up and started cracking his own jokes.

If I had come in humble, the Dane may have just sentenced me from appearance alone (which many people and cultures do - it's simply easier than risking time to figure a person out from scratch).

When I say "abandon" I mean abandon all this urban stuff as a crutch. One dimensional game sucks in general anywhere. Hiphop game sometimes gets you nothing but nigger lover types that want big dick or that swag. That is okay for just getting mere lays, like I said before. This was much more than just being about the women for this guy. This dude embodied this stuff and banner ran with this stuff, regurgitating the vile aspects of the same issues that actually KILLED hiphop culture and itself. Regardless on our individual views of the casual use of the word "nigga" among one another, it is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest to believe that the word was ever a good thing for black america or hiphop. When younger whites here wanted to assimilate into black american culture in an effort to blend cultural identity by using that word, that got awkward, ugly, and ended up being an epic failure for multiple reasons. Where are Fred Durst and Kid Rock now? What are they doing now? Did their movement go anywhere? No.

This guy is repeating that recent history all over again. Back to game, I personally think hiphop game is very one-dimensional. Easy is just easy. Doesn't mean that is the best you got. Guys should never limit themselves like that. A black cowboy experiment with my humor skills should be interesting. My wife thinks it's silly but I bet I could pull plenty qq numbers doing that. (my wife won't trip, she knows it for you guys). Game is not limited to just the popular precanned setups everyone else uses. Mix stuff up. Outfits and swag just get attention. I notice how that Dane was more enamored with your mouthpiece instead. Jokes and good conversation is always more important than pushing a stereotype or a prop.

Humble guy persona, is just a technique really. You can run asshole game in a nanosecond regardless of how you are dressed or started out. If the gals you are chasing are rough in nature, why would you come at them with nice guy game? But then again, you can always start off that way, shock and stun them with crass humor, then reel them back in with romance shit. Maybe I am sounding corny with this but like Bruce Lee would say, be like water.

The media does a great job of painting black men in a negative light, most people don't see us as individuals but as a collective. Christ look at the two biggest movies of last year, Twelve years as a Slave and The Butler. I guess Hollywood couldn't think of anything better to make, I could think of a few positive stories I would like told but we all know that will not happen.
Look at Hip-Hop which has pretty much been buried, this is the image that is broadcasted to people across the world. The music has no message, only talking about pure materialistic crap.
I met a black guy in Croatia, who makes a good living touring those EE countries teaching breakdancing.

TravellingKai - you make great points but this dude doesn't effect your world. I also wear different looks to mess with people, I wouldnt be caught dead in that hip hop stuff.

He definitely affects everyone's world I think. He is already getting death threats from WN and skinheads in Russia. Wasn't he already approached by them on the street in one of those links above? I forgot already. Anyway, it's his life and funeral. Live fast die young right, American style right? I'm not offended by him or anything like that, I just hope others lurking and other RVF members understand why the things he is doing has disadvantages. On the surface it looks somewhat harmless on a casual glance, but there are some deeper problems below that. Just my 2 cents, sorry if it came off like a rant.

I wouldn't call it a rant. Your first post in this thread nailed in my view. Phil and his supporters have basically failed to acknowledge that Russian society has a different set of values and that what he is doing is not welcome by most of the population.

There is some racism in Russia, but most of what he experiences has nothing to do with it. Making political statements in a foreign country is not wise, especially in Russia. It wouldn't hurt him to cut out the clowning/peacocking (or whatever it's called) either.
