First visited Taipei in October....2015? I had an overnight layover on a MONDAY on my way to Vietnam for 5 weeks. I got to my hotel in the afternoon, got on the hotel Wi-Fi and Tinder....and before long had about 10 good quality matches, either young or early 30s but athletic. One chick was ~36 and thick. After getting good chats/responses from about 4 of those women I got the vibe that the 36/thick chick was most DTF for that night. Met her for drinks......she was a little *too* thick but...fuck it. I'm there at that point, and she had a cool personality. She ended up taking me to some opulent Taiwanese love hotel (which she paid for) and we fucked until the morning, at which point I went back to my actual hotel, got my stuff, and flew to Vietnam. Five weeks later I met up with her again on my return layover, and since she was late meeting me she paid for a gigantic traditional Chinese dinner and the same amazing love hotel again. I wish I remembered the name/location of that place, it was that opulent. And not crazy expensive, either, like ~$100 for the night I think.

So I thought Taiwan was awesome.

Fast forward to my current trip. I changed my Tinder location last week (Thursday) to Taipei (because Valentine's Day, right?). I used a Boost Monday night. I arrived here Tuesday afternoon and used another Boost. By this point I had MAYBE 6 new matches, and NONE of them were even responding. I met up with my business associate, who is a kinda short and skinny guy from African. He's a VERY well educated STEM-field guy and speaks 3 languages, but no Mandarin. He previously lived in Vietnam for 2-3 years (where I met him) and he was CLEANING UP there, so he's got solid game. He's had NO luck with Taiwanese chicks, and really doesn't like their vibe either. He's convinced they are all still brainwashed to worship at the altar of the white man, as they seem to fall over themselves to date any garden-variety schlub English teacher who comes through. He's been here over 1.5years and not had one Taiwanese girlfriend. We did have a random encounter with a young 7-Eleven employee:

So some women are definitely mandingo-curious, but it seems super rare. As an aside, my buddy seemed to think all these Indonesian women on the college campuses in hijabs and shit are lowkey hoebags. I'm not sure I have time to find out.

I've now been here two nights, on Tinder since last week. Total about 15 Tinder matches (like 2 hours worth in Manila, maybe a day's worth in Hanoi), of which only 3 have even sent single-line responses and then nothing. Another chick agreed to meet tonight after taking the conversation to Instagram. She wanted to go to a bar for happy hour. My judgement from her Instagram pics: she's a quirky 4/10 drunkard who looks like the village bicycle for every white English teacher in Taipei. I end up arriving at the bar after happy hour ended and she had already left and went home alone. I tried to coax her back out to meet but doubted it would work, and really didn't want to break my neck trying for such low-grade ass anyway. She offered to meet Friday but I'm heading back to Japan Friday. Even if I was still here I'd rather try my hand at nightclub game instead of allocating a prime weekend night to her.

My African buddy said my 6-hour turn around on Tinder smashing a few years back was a total fluke and this current trip seems to confirm that.

Note: I studied Mandarin about 10 years ago but have forgotten almost all of it. I'm remembering stuff just being here, though. Not enough to run day game or aim for high-level locals who don't speak English or anything like that.

Just a quick note, "Handsome guy" is most likely a direct Chinglish translation of 帥哥 (shuài gē, handsome brother) in Mandarin by a girl whose English might not be the best, and it's just a way to refer to a guy in Taiwanese Mandarin. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're actually handsome. You can even hear it between men without any implication of homosexuality.

On the other hand, she might have actually meant it. In any case it's a sign that she's open to further conversation.

That's still how it is more or less - a lot of the girls who teach in Taiwan were weaboos or koreaboos who switched after a few years.

There is good demand, yes. The benefits in Taiwan for ESL are not good though. Don't really get subsidized housing and transport like you would in other countries.

If you're not a native speaker then you will need more than just a TESOL.

If you are a native speaker, a 2 year degree is enough - technically you need a 2 year degree + tefl, but it doesn't really matter that much. 4 year degree a tefl isn't required at all if you want to work at a cram school.

My Taipei journal

Bio:
Mid 30s, Asian, 5'8, average-looks-and-built, (sometimes girls say I am cute, mostly in Asia), knows game since 2008 but very on and off practice.

First day:
Arrived in Taipei on Sunday and opened a French girl in airport, had some student chat (she is studying in Taiwan) She's a 7 but not responding well to me, exchanged numbers and ejected. Arriving at hotel and went to a nearby mall and tried some daygame. Open two sets, both fizzled. I say hi and they are surprised/afraid of strangers and just walked away, by now I am tired and went back to the hotel.

Total three openings.

First night pt 1 moved to AI, a cosy bar with an open air balcony. Met a random dude who is somewhat of a natural, and we started chilling at the bar table. Opened three two sets, and a single set along the bar table. Some KINO and friendly chatter, but me and my wing were a little loud and we did annoyed some sets. By midnight, the bartender came and say we need to leave if we keep hitting on girls. My wing was annoyed and I was slightly embarrassed but later felt a tinge pride that we opened all the sets. FIRST FOR ME.

We then moved to the club below called FRANK, it's a techo-like club with high roofs and a second floor circling the dance floor. By now a little tipsy, and my wing opened up so we opened another two sets. One set was actually with a group of college friends and we did. Our pseudo-American accent stood out - Which means that people overheard us and some probably think we are ABCs (we are not but spend many years in the west - hence the word "pseudo", in any case it worked for us).

Total four openings (three two person sets).

First night pt 2
In the party, by now I must have spoken to a few more sets very casually but I can't recall anymore. I opened a set of two person with my wing. This hot tall and tanned Asian girl, let's call her JANE I'd give her a 7 (body a 9). We initially have good chemistry but since she was in a group I was less brave to get physical. When we move to the dance floor she was obviously showing signs when I held her hand she held back tight. But because I didn't want to take over her since she is the hotter one among her friends I also wanted to get permission from my wing, so I backed out a little and started gaming an average girl by our side.

After maybe ten minutes my wing and the sets were gone, so I gathered they must have moved to the dance floor but to my disappointed JANE was dancing with a college guy and my wing was just standing by the side being beta, and I also became beta. My wing and I tried to pull the three girls together but the college guy keep grabbing JANE over and after a few minutes they started kissing. I was like FUCK. But after a few minutes my wing and I actually pulled her back as she was not going to do a hot french kiss with the college kid. So I push JANE to my wing, which somehow he then asked me to handle her, and that point I decided FUCK IT I am gonna game her all by myself.
I took it to the next level, brought her out from the dance floor and tried getting a drink for us two to cool it down, by then I can feel her energy running away and she was actually looking at the IG she and the college kid took together. I was like FUCK but after drinks I grab her back to the dance flood started dancing and getting physical, I didn't try to kiss her first cos I didn't want to look desperate so being so physical I wanted for her to initiate the kiss which she did. So in the end we started making out in the dance floor, by the bar area and my hands were inside her dress, by that time we were all a little tipsy and i said to her looking into her eyes and said "I want to fuck you". Which she did not answer but look me back deeper in the eyes.

The club wrapped up at 4am and six of us , both of her friends also got hooked up with some college kids (one of them thanks to me cos I drag the college kid over to talk to her friend) we had some early breakfast and then finally it's three girls and me. By now JANE and I are super touchy and kissing. I sent the three of them back and logistically I couldn't close, but a few hours later I went out with JANE for dinner and took her home, the rest were history. We spent two good days together

Second night
Strictly it's not the second night but the second night I game in this city. Friday night I went to Triangle which rumor to have tons of college kids especially foreign students studying in Taiwan. True enough there;s alot. The place is like a band bar that is about 500m2 give or take. I told myself that I have to keep up the tempo and just opened once I get in, but it took me 15 minutes to muster the courage to opened. I opened first set, and opened another four sets, two of the girls of four sets were responsive so we started talking and at mid point I was worried how can I game them as both were clearly interested to chat. I picked the hotter one a 7 and focus on her, let's call her MARY.

Things was hard to manage as there were four girls and I didn't know how to do (I wasn't nervous of anything but just actionless while dancing) In the end their friends came, there were not really close friends but some white bouncers that works there, from their interaction clearly there is some friendship, and the bouncer brought shots for us and clearly since I was with the ladies I got free shots, but after the shots they obviously tried to screen me out, I decided not to react, and since the girls also reacted positively and I guess they could have known from previous hang outs, so I got muscled out by the few white boys.

By then I decided to take it easy and drop the focus on MARY, so instantly I became more alive and started dancing with four girls at different , minor hugging and holdind hands. Other girls probably saw me and it was then easy for me to talk to the girls casually on the other tables. I took another girl from the next table to dance, she was a 5 but was very touchy and I could have kissed her if I wanted, but I decided not to elevate (I later saw her french kissing a white college kid before leaving). By now I see MARY dancing with a guy, and knew there was no game with MARY. Overall I felt good as I was enjoying myself and dance with half a dozen of girls even if I came alone.
Total 5 -6 openings. two group sets. And tbh one opened me.

Observation
I still worry how other girls will look at me if I talk to different sets, this was obvious feeling in the second night. Should I just not bother and open? I also bother a little when I see other patrons starring.

I probably had an easier time in Taiwan because I spoke the language with accent, so some presume I am American or Hong Kong or what not which has high status level.

I read a few chapter's of Roosh's book and realized that my game in the past years aren't really solid games, During less good times I can hang out for a few hours at cafes and only one 1 set, while accumulatively I have open a few hundred sets it is still not on the same level or mindset of success. Note: I've been gaming since college and I am now mid 30s, and also intermittently dropping out of the game for a few years when in serious relationships. And believe it or not, I am in the community more for interaction with girls rather than banging them per say. Am I just lying to myself, or there are guys who feel the same? There were many times in my years that I didn't elevate just because it was a right kind of feeling and I didn't feel the need to close it with a lay.

I realized some of the white guys in Taiwan dare to get physical real quick. Maybe it's my stereotype sinking in but is it because they have more social proofing, or simply more confidence. In any case, no blaming as I am 100% responsible of what I am and what I can be.

Second day

Open three sets today. One was a waitress so she might have simply been compelled to chat, another two during my MRT trip back. One had friendly chat for 15 mins and the other just walked away. The sucky things was that the girl that just walked away walked towards the exit and I had a split second delay of wthether to continue talking to her but I had to also use up my train ticket if I exit, crap. None of the three will be a close, unless not until I build up major chemistry which is something not I am into for these three sets.

Third night
Called one of the girl I number closed at Triangle and had a last minute date. Game her in the bar she was impressed and I was holding her hand while she talk, but couldn’t make out as it’s more of a open area chilled bar. I think I could have closed or attempted to close her but decided to eject as I think she was not on par with my expectations, maybe a 6 in with alcohol first night we met and a 4 that night.

observation
Another take home is that I again deliberated and it took me an hour of walking and eating tidbits before I muster the courage to open, I didn’t have any major AA where I used to such as sweat and tremor but I still worry about rejection I guess. I only stared warming up at the second hour and opened all three in the span of an hour + , still an improvement for me but could have wasted less time. Thoughts like she will think I am weird, too old, married bla bla still flashed through.

Also to add that as an ABC there’s certain unfair advantage gaming in Taipei.

I probably won't be getting my flag here. Did not do nearly enough cold approaches, wasted time with bad leads and did not pipeline for online.

Getting them out is another story - with random ghosting and whatnot.
