Normies are fleeing to places that they would never have usually gone to such as Taiwan and ruining it for people that actually give a shit about the local culture.

Lel, that is quite the arrogant viewpoint you got there... so just because somebody "cares" more about one countries culture, they somehow deserve to travel there more than the other person.

That's one of the worst thing about being an immigrant, especially one to an otherwise homogenous society like East Asia.

You work your hardest to adapt to their culture and contribute to the community, but the average Taiwanese still judges you by the cargo shorts and beer belly nitwits on holiday.

I hear this a lot about Asian countries. But it's really no different in the west as much as people like to claim they're diverse and accepting there. In the US, immigrants live in parallel societies. Indians, Chinese, Hispanics, Eastern Europeans, etc. all live in their own neighborhoods in my part of the country. I really only see either second or third generation people immigrate or the rare exceptions that are very well educated and speak fluent English.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

Never said anything about deserving... Only that a location can be ruined by people who don't care for the locals or the culture, ruining it for everyone.

I don't really see anything arrogant or controversial about that opinion.

Obvious example, Brits are hated in many countries due to their antics abroad...But in taiwan, they are generally thought of as 'Gentlemen'.

Alot of discussions on this forum are based around local attitudes to foreigners and cultural insights.

My point was that Taiwan (and China) is experiencing a new type of foreign expat. An Expat that dislikes the west (will never admit it), but also hates Asia at the same time, yet they still live there within their expat community because it beats life back home.

Therefor expect local Taiwanese attitudes to change based on the new arrival of these expats.
